DV Advisory

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Galvan on October 11th, 2003, 8:33 pm
Hey yall, its Mike back from Fright Fest.....(TR Forthcoming)But this post is an advisory to all DejaVu fans......:!: DEJAVU ADVISORY :!:Heres the story: Tonight around 6:45pm I rode DV on Seat 7A(The Seat that over looks the exit and Demon) Anyway, i followed the exact instructions as the ride ops tell you, Leave the Green OTSR in the Air buckle seat belt etc etc. Anyway, prior to the Train's dispatch, My OTSR unlocked completely, i figured i did not lock the OTSR down all the way, so i pressed the OTSR down again. It was Locked again so i thought, As the train rose to the tower, The OTSR completely unlocked again. This scared the crap out of me, im talking about completely unlocked so much so that without the OTSR extra seatbelt, you would be hearing about an Accident at SFGA. This is not an isolated incident, in fact this has happened to me again on that Seat, and my Friend also incountered this on the same seat. I notified the Ride OP, they did not close the seat or ride or anything, So i did notify Guest Relations about this potential safety Hazard.I was not at all mad at the park,or the ride ops or anything, i wanted to prevent an accident or an incident that would make DV either get taken down or Six Flags sued.Remember this is DV Seat 7A(The Seat overlooking the Exit & Demon)

This is the first time that I've heard of an incident like this. I'm glad to see that you're safe, though.

From what I heard, if your restraints pop open, then you get an exit pass. I think some people complained about viper a few times. I don't know if they belived you about DeJaVu. I certinaly think it is possible.

Well, they may have fixed it because my sister and I rode in 7a around 8 and neither her restraint or mine unlocked... :?

Well, if it makes you feel better that seat was closed off at the end of the night.

I hadn't been to Great America since 2000 so I hadn't had the chance to ride the 3 new coasters!!! Well, I went to opening day of Fright Fest and I HAD SOOOO MUCH FUN! DEJA VU ROCKS!!!!!! My girlfriend and I sat in the back row. It is such an intense ride. AMAZING!!! I like how the the side seats are divided. It kind of gives the feeling of riding alone. SO AWESOME!!! I LOVED IT! I'm glad I didn't sit in the "bad" seat though. I would have freaked out! V2 was great too. We rode that in the front seat. I'm really impressed with the new coasters. Superman was alright. I enjoy the feeling of flying, but the ride really wasn't that great. Raging Bull is still my #1 but Deja Vu has knocked my #2, Millenium Force, down to #3. Okay, I'm done rambling. . .

I seem to think that opening of the chest restraint is near impossible. Not that iam saying that people that have said so are crazy. But, when i think about it. It just does not make sense. First the chest restraints are pressure locked when the ride fires up. So they should not unlock until the train comes back to the station. On top of that they only unlock by pushing inward or should i say towards youre chest. Next thing we have to look at is that you are going up the vertical lift and when you are going up youre body is pressed against the chest restraint. Now the pin or whatever that is locked or pushed in to keep the restraint closed is not the exact size of the hole it goes into. So you have a slight amount of free play. Now back to the lift thing, youre pressed against the restraint so the free play is at its outer most point thus pulling the seat belt tight even if the restraint opened you would not even be able to tell. But according to the other guy the seat was closed. But they probley closed it cause of the complaint that was made and they did not want to chance it but iam telling you all that if and only if the restriant opened you would not be able to tell especially on the lift. Me and my wife rode 7A and no problems i actually seem to think deja vu chest restraints are pretty tight fitting compared to some other rides. And of coarse they would have to be tight cause of the vertical lifts and drop. Thank you and god speed!!

I don't know about that one. But that could explain why we got two coasters in 01.

I guess if Deja Vu was a gift, so was SFMM's, SFoG's, and WBMW Madrid. Yes, that makes total sense. Vekoma decided because Six Flags bought 2 flying dutchman in 2001, that they would just give Six Flags four expensive prototypes. Yeah, thats it, Vekoma was so happy to sell 2 fliers, that they just gave away 4 prototypes.Too bad places like Best Buy don't have policies like that... Then I could have the Nomad Zen that I want along with my Nomad Muvo. But, if they did that, they would need to file for bankrupcy protection, like Vekoma had to. Oh, now it's so clear why Vekoma had so little money they had to do that! They gave away 4 prototypes as gifts!Ok, I'm sorry for saturating you with sarcasm. I won't do it again today.
