Concerts 2010

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

So I was wondering how many people on here actually go and see the concerts? I know a lot of you enjoy seeing the shows during fright fest and am wondering what peoples thoughts are about maybe extending the concert season into fright fest next year. I know park employees monitor this site so I hope this idea can be taking into consideration. Another question I have is what bands would people like to see I know this year they were all pop singers that I had never heard of what about getting some sort of Rock&Roll group like say Kings of Leon or Nickelback or even a bigger classic name like AC/DC or Dave Matthews I would love to see Six Flags put on big name concerts like what come through the other venues in our area and not do so many pop groups.

Back in the Marriott days of the late 70's and early 80's, they did have some pretty big names for the time doing concerts there, including pop/rock acts, like Three Dog Night, and I remember in the early 80's when Barbara Mandrell was the top country act, with a huge TV variety show, and she did a concert there too. The American Eagle/Wiggles tent used to be a show tent, before the Eagle was built, similar to the ampitheater that's in Southwest Territory, and they had regular shows and a circus in there.

The pinnacle of the parks entertainment offering clearly occurred on July 10, 1992 when Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch played at the now defunct Great American Bandstand(where SSA is now) :)

Personally I dont bother going to the concerts. There are just so many people there for these events you wont be able to get on anything. And then you have to stand in line to get the tickets after you have stood in line to get into the park?! No not for me tooo Crowded. I went in 2007 durinr the third weekend of july boy that was a misteak they were having a muslim or middle eastern fest or group outing. I waited 2 1/2 hours to go on Roaring Rapids. and only logged about 10 rides total for the entire day 9-10. I also skip the Fourth of July and Labor Day as well.
