How's Fright Fest?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby coastercrazy111 on October 11th, 2003, 2:39 pm
So, who has been to Fright Fest yet? I know it just started today, I know a lot of you were going. What is it like this year? How is Camp Crystal Lake? Also, where is the King Kong at? On top of Sky-Trek-Tower or what? Just give us some info on what you saw there.

Well I was at the employee only preview and I worked today, so here's what I'll tell ya.No Kong yet. Wednesday is supposed to be the "MAGIC" day. Sky Trek Tower looks awesome at night, (and only at night, trust me. But you have to be close to it) The Mausoleum of Terror was WAY better than I ever remember it. Scary as hell. Spend the $5. I didn't go into the Sleepy Hollow 3D thing, but I heard it was lame. The Scooby Doo Mystery Train is boring unless you are under the age of 10 (ride it though. There are some fun surprises) Other than that the park seems darker than years past, more colored lighting effect. A big improvement over last year.

It's a very good Fright Fest this year, they went all out this year.Sky Trek Tower does look cool at night, I hope they can get Kong up thier.Hellevator/Giant Drop has sound effects now with grinding noises and cable snapping type effects. It doesn't add much to the thrill of the ride, but it's still cool. They need to get the fog pumping out more though, I only saw the bottom fogged once.Scooby Doo Mystery Train: I do not have one good thing to say about this, they should have left the regular train lol. Not to mention, I think my train of Eagle got flicked of by Velma(sp?) as we were going up Eagle Blue's lift hill lmao.Orbit goes completly dark mid ride and has strobe lighting. Once again it doesn't really effect the ride experience but looks cool to people watching the ride. The park has alot of different colored lights that make the paths darker as said above, and the Micheal Myers music isn't played everywhere in the park for once. I only heard it by Columbia Carousel.

The Michael Myers music was played in Carosuel, Orleans/ Nightmare on bourbon street, near superstition, in county fair, and Hunted Harbor but was not playin the bridges, and you couldn't allways hear it because if other music like those dead muzitians in bourbon street.

It was cool seeing the Ski Whril cages on the Scooby Doo Mystery Train and they also had the airplanes crashed in Hometown Square. Terror Twister was fun at night with Sandstorm music on only!

Did any one go both Saturday and Sunday? If so, was there any difference between the 2 days? Like more characters or any thing like that.

Awesome pics, I can't wait for next weekend! And one question about Giant Drop. Are there sound effects ON the ride, or in line? If they are on the ride, then it must be pretty creepy.

I did there was like no difference at all really. All that was different on Sunday than saturday was THE FOAM by DEMON. It was so werid there was all this foam by DEMON's waterfall it was like shooting out foam at like 10:30am Its was very odd.http://groups.msn.com/thepapascoasterex ... hotoID=774 for a picture. Sunday was just a werid day all togethor lots of ride closed in the morning like DEMON,BTR the corn maze had a sign that said closed due to weather conditions even thought there wasnt a cloud in the sky. I think they just needed a sign to put there/ excuse to not have it open lol. There were some new characters.[/url]

I went to FF all 3 days, and there wasnt any difference with people walking around, it was just that some of the shows that were running on Sat, and Sun weren't running today, and no parade.

"2 for 1" coupons are also good this coming weekend so, yes, it will probably be crowded.

Frieght Fest was ok, but it wasn't what it was talked up to be. in my opinion the best part of necropalis was the freak show, i thought it was good. And this one clown was talking to my friends and I today like he wasn't a scary character. Over all it was better then it has been in years past, but it probably could be much better.

Was that the clown with his hair spike up and the tips of the spikes were red? I was talking to him too, he didn't scare anyone, he just stood there and talked to people. He really didn't seem to enthused about his job .

Was it the guy with the horn? Because I saw him too and all he was doing was honking that horn.
