I always wondered what it would have been like if SUF took Whizzers spot. Flying through the trees, close encounters, and real dark atmosphere. Do you think it would have been like that or do you think they would have paved the Whizzer area and made it boring?
Have a take and don't suck, it's the Jim Rome Show!
Yeah, they probably would just get rid of all the trees if it was in Whizzer spot. I'm with the other people that say putting buildings around the ride would have been cool for Superman.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
That's the only good thing about some of these coasters people want the park to get rid of. The landscape has grown in over all these years around rides like Whizzer and Iron Wolf, and it really compliments each ride.

YES! I'm sorry but i wouldn't mind the bizarro re-theme to this. going through those fake buildings was actually awesome on both Bizarros.
I think they should finish the theme on Raging Bull that they were supposed to do before the ride opened.
The final frenzy of the ride was supposed to be a ghost town that the bull chased all the residents out of. Weaving in and out of buildings before the brake run. But funding got cut and now all you see it just a leveled out gravel field...ready for construction.
I agree with justa bout everyone else here; if SUF was put in Whizzer's location, all of those trees would have been leveled. I don't think it would be a safety concern, but rather a construction issue. All those trees would just be in the way, and make it difficult for the crew to move around.
This is also another reason why they shouldn't remove Whizzer. The landscape has grown around that ride and given it a very unique feel that you don't get on most other coasters. If they tired this again, it would take 15-20 years before landscaping even got to the level that it is around Whizzer now. Just take a look at some pictures of SFGAm (then MGA), and you'll see that it looks rather plain over in the area and you can clearly see the coaster from other areas of the park. Now, you really can't see much of it if you're not in the queue line.

That proves my point perfectly, or at least illustrates what I meant. All of the trees are there, but they are younger and smaller and don't envelop the ride the way they do now. All of that landscaping was likely put there with the plan of one day having it grow around the ride the way it did. They could do it again if they had put SUF there, but again, it would take around 15-20 years to grow to the level it has now. Though, if they were planning on that, they could probably save some of the trees they have now and re plant then when the construction was complete.
I think Superman is just fine where it is, and very glad that they didn't tear Whizzer down. However, I think Superman could be better with a few more theming elements, like fake buildings to fly around and through. After all, Superman does most of his work in Metropolis the city, and our Superman flies around a meadow (although it is much much better than the parking lot that Shockwave was built on.). I think flying through tunnels with fog, and perhaps some fire effects like Bizarro would be cool, too.

Really? Weaving around buildings would be awesome. Hopefully they will do that in the near future. But i mean the ride is already as fun as it is, maybe they won't do it. How did you find out that information?
/\ RB was designed during the Time Warner era and Premier bought the parks before it was built and cut the budget for a lot of the theming. They did the same with Goliath at SFMM and probably other additions around this time.
