The Haunted Houses before 5 pm are supposed to be $5, but that's not what happened to someone I know on Saturday. They were getting charged for $10 at 4:30 pm at the register which is before 5 pm. They had to go to guest relations and complain because this is a scam for the park to get more money. Another big group of people in front of the person I know left because they were at the register at that time, and the park's people said hey let's charge them $10, and they lost all that business. So, watch out if they want to rip you off for these haunted houses.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Plus the haunted houses are horrible. I went in the Mausoleum of Terror, which is supposed to be the scariest one, and I was very unimpressed. All the scary people inside were wearing the same black robe with white face paint, and it was predictable where they were hiding.
First of all you have to specify if you want the before 5pm ticket price because if you buy that ticket and then wait til nightfall you can't use it so they obviously assume the regular ticket price unless you specify you are going to go in before 5pm. Also, the haunted house is indoors so it doesn't matter whether it is dark or light outside. I actually think it is better when it is light outside because when you go into the darkness it takes longer for your eyes to adjust and actually makes it harder to see. The people at six flags aren't trying to "scam" people just some people don't pay attention when they are buying there tickets, how did this person buy the ticket then realize they paid $10 rather than $5 after the fact. When the employees said that would be $10 they should have said oh sorry we want the before 5pm ticket. It is that person's fault for not paying attention. I enjoy the haunted houses I think they are not overpriced at all. Studio 13 is great this year and has much tighter spaces then years past. The Mausoleum of Terror is simialr to previous years and personally my favorite part is the chainsaw at the end because that gets everyone every time. I love to watch people run out of MOT from the chain saw. One person on Sunday actually puked after because they were so scared and screaming and running so hard.
It's a misleading practice, and what they should treat it like is the matinee showing at a theatre. If I'm there before the time, I probably want the early time, otherwise I have to specify. Fault on both parts, but SFGAm is misleading.
When I got my tickets for the Mausoleum on opening day last week at around 4:20 they specifically asked me if I was going to go before 5 and I said yes, so I got the $5 one. Must have just assumed you weren't going before 5 on accident.
My brother and his girlfriend asked for the before 5 pm ticket at 4:30 pm for $5. They said no. This is not the fault on both parts. This is the fault on the park only.

If the line for the haunted house is long, and the cashiers know you won't make it to the house before 5pm, then you will get charged $10. Seeing as it was 4:30, the lines very well could have been longer than 30minutes.
^You probably go to a movie at 4:40 pm, and expect to pay non-matinee prices too. Movies are usually 2 hours, so it gets out at 6:40 pm. Well, that's past 6, so you must pay $9.50 now. Ha Ha Ha
You are probably the park spokes man or (woman) telling people it's okay to rip off people.

Unless there is a line, they can't just refuse to give you the $5 ticket.

This has never happened to me. I go to a movie that starts at 5:00pm and I pay matinee price.
If you have a season pass, do not get a fright pass. Before 5, we got a fright pass then noticed later in the day that we would've gotten in free to Rise of the Demon and Cell Bloack 'A' and wouldn't of had to pay $15 and should've just gotten the tickets for the two haunted houses and only had to pay $10 before 5.
