Raging Bull Brakes

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

So I noticed a couple of years ago that the final set of brakes just before the first building had been changed a bit. I used to enjoy standing in line watching it hit that point and the peoples legs, arms, and heads would all shoot out in front of them at the same time and then fly back, it was very entertaining ;-)
Now of course that no longer happens, as they have clearly toned them down a bit. I figure they did this to put less strain on the trains, and brakes, also I suppose the people. So heres my question:
How do they decide how strong the breaks need to be at a certain point and since they apparently can change them, why did they wait a few years to calm them down?
I read in another topic that the trim breaks were possibly increased over the years, could that have caused the ride to enter those end brakes slower, making it so they didn't actually alter them, but the ride just doesn't have as much speed to be slowed down?

While I am not sure on the brake run at the end, the other ones are either speed or weight sensitive. I've ridden bull with maybe 6 people at 9 AM during last years random ERT for passholders on a cold day. The ride never used the trims once but once the park opened and more people rode, the trims were working.

^^I think they are speed sensitive. Someone else had mention that in a trip report earlier and FParker mentioned that they are.

I know what you're talking about Nightrider, I used to enjoy watching that too. I think it was about 3 years ago the final brakes were toned down a bit to allow for the train to slow down more gradually.

I rode Bull for the first time of the year last month and I noticed the end brakes really came on smoothly, not nearly as strong and jolts everybody. I like it better that way. However, I have noticed the trims seems to kick in stronger than usual. Not sure if it's just in my head it's going slower or if it really is.
