I am going to miss "the birds" this year. Although I dont see why they cant run the ride with the gorilla on top of it. They better re-theme another flat in place of this then.
That gorilla is about half the height of Condor, there is no way to perch that thing on top, there is nothing to tie it to. Also in any wind that would probably come close to tipping the tower over as it is still trailer mounted as far as I know. I'm guessing they will park the ride about 1/4 of the way up and put the gorilla on top of that then attach the rest to the tower itself well below the bird on top.
It is about time they paint Sky Trek though, it's been all rust streaky for the past decade just about. The Six Flags on the side was just plain retarded, but I guess it's their money to waste as they want to.

At this point it just looks like primer on the extra rusty parts of the tower those being joints and hatches. It's probably a reddish brown or Gray and doesn't indicate the final colors.

I would like to take a moment to thank you for using Larry's proper name. I hope everyone on the board will take notice. He appreciates it when you don't just call him the Gorilla.

I did get out to the park tonight, but got there to late for any pictures. STT at least to me does have a dark blue color on the joints and hatches. Did not look to be put on in a "neat" way...which would have me agree with what Mike had said about it being a primer.
Crowds were non-existent due to the weather. Everything was a walk-on. In fact, from about 9:35 till close I had my own personal ERT on eagle, as I was the only one riding it.

Oh how I can easily tell you're lieing... Six Flags Great America was closed yesterday Saturday September 26 for private events. Isn't that a coincidence.
^ Since that was your first post, I will cut you a bit of a break. You are correct in that on Saturday, Sept 26 and today the park is closed for private events.
However, I did go on Friday night, and if you look at the date/time stamp on my post, which is Sat Sep 26, 2009 12:59 am, it does not take much IQ to know that 12:59 AM on Saturday is 12:59 early SATURDAY MORNING (aka the middle of the night). For me to say "I did get out to the park tonight" would only be possible if I went a few hours before ON FRIDAY, and not on Saturday.

Anymore pictures of the work being done on the STT? I think it will look pretty nice. It will look more fun, modern, and clean in the park. Not only that, but it will make it look newer again than its old plain look. When was the last time its cabin got fixed up, if ever? There needs to be more improvements in the inside in my opinion.
