You people are fickle. One minute you are all "OMG CHANG IS COMING I'll KILL SOMEONE IF IT DOESN'T AHH!", and the next you are all "Yeah no, we don't need chang. Some other park does..blah blah blah.."
Would you make up your damn mind and go with it?
Have a take and don't suck, it's the Jim Rome Show!
I do not see any reason to think Chang will not come here...I do not believe people on boards and will wait patiently till September or August when it is announced. I just do not see any reason why they would bring parts of it here and have SSA removed very close to each other if nothing was coming...And the HH expansion talk has no merit.
I never got excited over chang.... I'm not a coaster nut, I can rarely get to sfgam, but I am a purist. I like iron wolf and would hate to see it go. It's b&m's first and is a piece of history. I don't like raging bulls cars so I would rather see bull go than iron wolf, whizzer, demon, eagle, or suf. Yes, this will never happen so don't get mad... I just would love to see a monster multi looper or another signature ride.... There is history in every ride here save for viper, tdk, Cajun, and suf.... And bull was our last original coaster. It's been over a decade....

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!! Sorry, couldn't resist
Although wooden coasters cost less then steel coasters, they need a lot more maintenance over time like retracking every once in a while. I love GCI coasters, i'm just thinking that some wooden coasters in the Six Flags chain have been neglected and are in bad shape.

We were blessed with Viper 14 years after Eagle debuted. I do think we need a new wooden coaster eventually (4-6 years) but a mega looper is one thing is desperately preferred.
Well this is why it's interesting with chang in the mix. We have two awesome woodies (one out and back and one cyclone clone. We have a good compact standup that could use some cars, whizzer is a classic an a great intro coaster. Demon is a timeless arrow looper and bull is a hyper twister. Suf is a typical flying coaster and batman is the perfect inverted looper. As this topic covered chang would be a bear to fit in our park without losing something, and I don't think iron wolfs removal would be enough. Plus that's like trading a classic muscle car for a new mustang... It's still not a huge upgrade, and wolf is a b&m classic and a very early stand up. This leaves us with a few possibilities. They might tear down wolf and other things in the area to fit chang. Cheap, easy, and an upgrade, but makes no sense since they would send wolf somewhere else. So unless wolf fits perfectly somewhere else this isn't realistic. Why would they spend millions to convert chang to a new ride. If they can convert chang to a floorless or sit down, they still have to either modify the layout or remove either demon or whizzer, and either is a pr nightmare. I really don't see chang ending up here, it makes no logistic or financial sense.
You mean the little dipper, right? Surely this is the only ride that will fit SSS space lol. As for chang... There are a few places it would fit with some minor ride layout modifications, but this is expensive to do.
I think some people are forgetting that we are getting a Wooden Coaster in 2010. Little Dipper would be the parks 3rd wooden coaster. So As much as a GCI wooden coaster would be awesome. I have serious doubts that a 4th GCI would be added to our park. Its pretty much unheard of to have 4 wooden coasters in one park.
(Yes, I know someone will jump up and tell me about some park that has 4 wooden coasters)
But the point is I really don't see a corporate park adding a 4th wooden coaster. Then again, I could be wrong.
A gravity group coaster is an option, as they are cheaper to build than pure steel, but cost less to maintain than wood. They are also very versatile and can be an "est" coaster for reasonable money. A custom built coaster can also fit custom spaces, and would draw crowds if it was a worthy coaster. That being said the park has lost a lot of inversions lately. Between Deja vu and shockwave we lost ten.... Now if we build a mega looper it can be custom fit so probably wouldn't displace too many rides. This would also be the first new headliner since suf. We could use a new ride to draw people from farther out. I mean bull and eagle might still draw people from far away, but we have too many clones that people can say "I've been on that elsewhere, I'd rather go to xxxxx" despite what you may think once a year or once every few year visitors provide a lot of cash to the park. We could use a new extreme woodie, but we could use a mega looper more. Be it sit down, floorless, inverted, flying, or other... We could use another headline worthy coaster.
And for the record, yes if they eat tons of parking lot they could place chang there, or another ride. There are lots of options if you design a ride to fit the spaces we have. Also mt Olympus has 4 wooden coasters.... One of them beat kingda ka for best new coaster of 06 in a prominant magazines reviews. Don't count a woodie out, but we still could use a mega looper of any type more. And to be honest a shuttle or launch ride can be compact and a new coaster we don't have.... So I hope wer excited whatever we get!
Please, this is a topic about CHANG, not a non-existent new wooden coaster that our park will NOT be getting anytime soon. Yes, wooden coasters are cheaper than steel, but what you are saying is pure speculation and opinion. When I open this thread, I wanna see some news on Chang and some ideas about THAT coaster. I can live with that, but please stop saying that a new Gravity Group coaster is an option...because it isn't.

While I strayed from topic for speculations and opinions, I was making valid points.... It makes more sense to put a new coaster here and put chang in a park that needs a stand up. Chang is a huge ride and eats space. Bottom line I doubt were getting it.
Also since the cars could go to iron wolf, unless we see all of chang here, with new colors... I wouldn't get excited. Since chang is going up next year, we won't get a press release soon, and there really is no news in what, three months? I think a relevant but slightly off topic post is better than a dead thread.....
I'd like to add a question... What was the largest ride that ever had major layout changes? Drachen (sp?) fire had about the same degree of change as demon ( but subtractive instead of additive) can anyone think of a ride that had major layout changes? I could see a few places chang could go if they could tweak the layout, and b&m could do it in a year.... Yes it's expensive, but if it could be converted to floorless and squeezed into the park by minor layout tweaks... Without removing a coaster, I think everyone would be happy. If they could do it and only remove iron wolf, well that would make most people happy.... Does anybody know the park layout and elevation changes well enough to know if chang would fit anywhere as is?
^Chang wouldn't have to be modified to fit in our park. Also the heart line on a floorless is the same as a stand up. Stand up coasters are hearlined for the highest possible person. A floorless train actually sits a bit lower then a stand up. So they could easily just switch trains.
