Not necessarily. For many slaves, they were happy with the fact that they received food and shelter. When the Union won, many slaves still stayed on plantations.
The way you put it, all black people were slaves, and that there are two types of people in this world - black and white. All black people think the same one way, and all white people think the same one way. Not true at all. I can't stand it when certain words (like black or slave) are used in a phrase and people automatically assume "you're being racist" when they probably can't even figure out the meaning of the word.
You must not be black. 85% of the black people who go to the park would be offended by it, the other 15% may not know what it is, or is indifferent. If there was a section of the park with confederate flags and such, actions would be taken.
I know what a racist is, firsthand. I uderstand your point, we all are individual.
I am against the whole Confederate idea, and I see what you are saying exactly. In your first post

you made it sound like all black people are slaves and that they would find it offending. I'm sure a lot of black people would, and that's why I am against it.
The first part of my post was from history class way back in 7th grade.

Sorry for any confusion.
P.S. no I'm not black
It's okay, cofedaracy stood for white supremicy (sp), and you dont have to have been a slave to be offended by that. [And with that, I'll get off the race topic]
This isn't Universal, I am not trying to be mean, but Six Flags does not have the money Universal does.[/quote]
You already said that and anyways it does have to be all nice it could be like the 1920's hollywood. That will look nice and will go along with the park.
That area was not themed well to begin with. Also, I did not see any Confederate flags, or any other flags over in that area. If you want to copy an area of there's, you know which one I say. Otherwise, forget the Confederate area, and come up with more ideas. If I can't remember an area (without looking at the map), I'm sure the GP has no idea either.
The GP knows two areas in our park, SWT and Mardi Gras. Considering SFGAm has (1. County Fair 2. Mardi Gras 3. Carousel Plaza 4. Orleans Place 5. Hometown Square 6. Yankee Harbor 7. Yukon Territory 8. SWT) that is pretty sad.

Enuthusists are General Public they pay to get in or purchase a season pass they wait in lines, pay money for food and merchendice. In other words anyone who goes to a theme park for lesire and goes through the front gate is General Public.
The only difference is that enthusisats usually go more and enjoy riding coasters and post on sites like these all day. And MOST of the time(notice the most in capitals) they do have more knowledge about coasters, parks rides, etc.
You said she knew every area. Did she know the names of every area? After a couple times you get to know that Triple Play is to the right and LR is to the left. Stuff like that sticks to people.
I might as well take SFOG for an example because I've only been there two days this year (without looking at the map). Once before this year.
*Right is mine train, and Acraphobia.
*You find the Sky Buckets which take you to D Vu.
*Near D Vu is the orbit (type ride), Ninja, Great American Scream Machine, and SUF is right next to that, and Bumper cars are right next to that. This all located in the far back of the park.
*You go up the hill and you find Antique cars, Balloons, JWR (a form of it), and a Merry-Go-Round near the Ninja line.
*Georgia Scorcher is to the left near the log ride
*After you pass GS, you get to the American area. You find an indoor scrambler, a drop ride, and "Power Dive."
*Past this is Gotham City where you have Mind Bender, BTR, swings, and an outdoor theathre.
Hopefully, you understand what I'm trying to say. So, which one is it?
About the GP, yes we are them and vice versa, but it is just a way to separate us from them. They might go to the park once or twice a year, and don't have a passion for the rides like we do. It's an easier way instead of saying non-park enthusiasts.

Im like one of the SFGA freaks that they know a lot of the stuff and some stuff I dont know I ask. I int really scared to ask or admit that I know a lot of stuff. The reason why old people know a lot more is because they gone their since the park opened so yea I know a lot for my age and even people older than me.
I think we shouldn't have a war or confederate area because not only is the park Great AMERICA it is also GREAT America. What I’m trying to say is that our park is supposed to reflect the best and brightest times in our country's history. War and especially the Civil War when we were divided against ourselves, are some of the worst times in our country.

It doesn't really matter how well a park themes an area, there will always be people that 'just don't get it'. You can go to Great America, watch people walk under the Yukon Territory sign, and hear them say, "Aww, it looks like a little forest town" Or listen to people say "Is this supposed to be the desert?" about SWT. A lot of people that frequent the park during the season really only come for the rides. Sure you could add a Gotham city area, but would people really care either way? As long as Batman is still there, I don't think it matters. If not, then why not just let the park stick with it's original charm, instead of letting it turn into something with distorted themes like PGA.
Just for the record, I am one who likes the themed areas, it adds more charm and character, than just a scattared amusement park would.
I also am not trying to pick on anyone's ideas, just stating my opinion.
This doesn't have much to do with theming a new area, but I don't want to make a new topic just for this. This is coming out of the blue, but why is the The Orbit in Hometown Square and not in County Fair? I consider the square to be right around the gazebo. The Orbit is out of this area. It doesn't real fit with the simpleton Hometown Square.

Orbit's right at the border of Hometown/County but if you look it CLEARLY is in Hometown. It's past the gazebo but the real entrance to County is under the sign that says County Fair a little furthere down.
^ When you cross the bridge (they had it closed in 2002), you are in County Fair. There used to be much more Hometown Square stuff by Orbit back when they had all the Kiddie Rides.
I was asking more of a why The Orbit is in Hometown Square and not in County Fair. The colors resemble a somewhat American feeling without the white color.

I've always thought they should move the picnic grove and make that area into a California Beach town in the 50/60's. They could get a car themed coaster, some kind of surfing ride theme. Maybe play surf music. I doubt it will every happen, but you can dream can't you?

To those people it doesn't mateer, but to others its something important. My mom for instance used to go to the park just to take me, my brotyher, and my cousins. All she would do is walk around the park, read a book here, take the train, and admire the theming in the areas. So it is important, especially to the people that dont ride coasters.
