I was meaning around 3 yards when I said a few. I don't know how close it actually is from a distance but it appears to be right there by the track. I know it's early and completely unnecessary to talk about Demon leaving at this time but I wonder if it's replaced by another coaster, how close the new ride would go to X-Flight and if they could make it wrap through the ride.

If you look carefully in the video of X-Flight, you can see class windows and a path to the left inside the hangar type building. This is my assumption that could be part of the queue.
I've just set up a workflow on my computer to download the webcam image at noon every day (assuming my computer is on. I'm not going to tell my computer to turn itself on if it happens to be off at noon. I'm not that concerned about a few missed days). Then, when the ride is complete, I'll try to create a time lapse video of the construction! I should have started this as soon as I discovered the single-webcam-image URL, but I'm kinda lazy At least it won't be missing anything major.
Could end up being pretty cool, however If you set it for 11am or 1:30pm you'd end up with more interesting footage since being in construction, noon is pretty much always when you go on lunch without fail. If you set it for one of those times you'll catch glimpses later on of supports/track hanging from cranes. And once it goes vertical you may want like 4-6 captures a day for a more fluid "video"

Yeah I was thinking about adding more alarms per day. At the moment I'm going to see if the trigger works for Sunday, and then I'll add more times for this week. I could do one every hour for the daylight hours.
I've been doing the same thing since the webcam went up, normally just one a day after school, but sometimes a few a day if someone moved the webcam while I was. I've been adding the pictures to the video every few days, but at this point, its still pretty boring to watch with not much change between days.
Sweet! Now if I screw something up I won't get yelled at by everyone :S
EDIT: Alrighty, I've got everything set up to begin Monday at 8am (no work on Sundays I guess). It grabs an image at 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm. These times are the only hours when there will be daylight consistently (of course we get many more daylight hours in the spring, but I'm not going to worry about that for the sake of constancy of frames per day). Then, when DST kicks in on March 11, I eliminate the 8am time and add a 5pm time. That way each hourly capture occurs at the exact same physical time throughout the construction process. Right now my plan is just going to be capture images up until Six Flags removes the webcam, which could be any random day near opening.
Consistency is less important to me. When spring comes around and there's more crane action, those should have 2-3 photos/day. You should just put the date in the corner of the video and have the date change depending on how many pictures you have per day. That's how I'd do it. To make it easier on you I'd work on the video on a daily basis so you don't have to all at once. Have each image display for about 3 seconds and you'll get a good 10-15 minute video....hopefully your youtube account is popular enough for 15-minutes.

It could be up a lot longer than that. It was in the Riptide spot all summer until they moved it for X Flight.
Doh, I guess not then! Haha I'm just makin' stuff up as I go along. I'll definitely begin video production once construction ends, and after that, who knows what I'll do. If SF keeps it up, cool, we can spy on guests, if not, oh well.
And at 9 frames per day for ~177 days is 1593 frames. That many frames at 5 fps is over 5 minutes. That sounds good to me. I don't need to work on any video stuff right now because there's software you can use to simply take an archive of images and dump them into the app and it'll stitch them into a video for you at a variable frame rate.
Apparently QuickTime 7 Pro has this feature (it's done in-app, but it essentially does the same exact steps to reach the product with hardly any more work). I still can't believe that Apple didn't allow you to get QT7Pro free after the release of QTX in Snow Leopard. Even more unbelievable is that they didn't inject QTX with the Pro features.
Reviewing the 9 images I captured today, the only thing that changed at all was that the pile of footer casings was moved to the left (a couple of pipes were moved about, but wherever they installed them in the ground, you can't see (top right)). It sucks that only about half of the ride footprint is visible by the camera.
it's more than half visible because the ride is pretty center-oriented. You can't see what will be the final brake run and safety brake and the turn near where the arcade was. If the zero G-Roll is high enough, you'll be able to see it on the very edge near where the stage was.

They are probably working on putting in footer in the areas the camera cant see. There was a lot of them poured right in front of the camera so now the other spots need to be attended to.

I don't wanna sound like a douche or ass and no offense to everyone, but this topic has 29 pages already?? What can there be so much to talk about about the new coaster?? LOL
