Actually inverts use the exact same system as regular above track coasters. Those wheels support some of the weight of the train, but at the corners of each car there are small wheels that ride in a L shaped piece of angle Iron on each side of the transfer track. That allows all the wheels to hang free for maintenance reasons of all sorts (inspection, replacement, longevity, etc).
Dollywood got done with Wild Eagle cause they started way early. The ride is actually around 95% complete, the track has been done for a while now. Basically as soon as they receive the trains and they are assembled on the tracks, testing will begin.

WOWEEEEE!!!!!! so their changing theyre plans for the red drop or something??? it looks black to me in their. also where did u find this picture?? i didnt even no that the first drop was done.
^That isn't X-Flight, that is a similar drop on another Wing Coaster opening soon called Swarm at Thorpe Park. The first drop isn't anywhere near being done yet.

They may have been asked / given financial incentive by B&M to finish early so they could have their engineers go out earlier and test, dial in the ride and get it ready for the season before a rush, and they have to do the same for the other 2 parks.
not saying that I have information, but something tells me that they don't have a ton of engineers that are versed in this new type of ride and want their top guys dialing these rides in.
Well, Swarm is also completed structurally. No idea where they're at on the electric and other support systems though. I would assume they will also likely begin testing as well as soon as the trains arrive.
I think for DW it's more a case of they don't want to have an active construction site at the apex of a large hill/mountain in blizzards/ice storms. As for Thorpe they always get stuff done early/on time, I remember back in early July of 2002 Nemesis Inferno had already gone vertical with a surprising amount of track already up. Of course this may all seem extremely strange to us since we've never had to deal with it, but parks like Thorpe and Dollywood like to have their new rides open on the opening day of their seasons without fail including all themeing and landscaping, of course to them our system of "it might should be done kinda around may or june-ish" is equally alien to them.

I'm not sure if you caught this or not, but the image in my above post updates with each frame of the webcam. The URL I used grabs the latest captured image from the *live* webcam. Therefore, every time you load this page, the image will be refreshed with the latest image.
I've been posting the image (http://166.241.21.24/-wvhttp-01-/GetOneShot) one time on each page (see page 26 and 27), so that every time you come to this thread for updates, you also get a glimpse of the latest construction work.
omg awesome!! Thank you! ...I was actually wondering that cause I waited just starring at it & nothin was happening. I did this cause I swore it was so dark when I checked it last I couldnt see anything, then it was light out when i made my post so I was like hmm but sadly wasnt smart enough to connect the dots haha thanks again. ;D
Looking at the web-cam at night makes me want to walk around the park at night with nobody there. In some areas they dont have lights on and others the do. I think it would be awesome and a bit creepy at the same time.

As far as I know, That's all done by computer, they can program when the lights turn on/off, what areas are lit, etc. But it only applies to park lights, not rides, shops, etc.

Yeah just look at all the pictures and videos of Six Flags New Orleans. Creepy as hell when you see it completely deserted and broken down and rotting. That park seriously would have given Zombieland a better set with zero effort than what they used in the movie!
I feel like Six Flags is more exciting when there're not many people around. It feels like more of an adventure I guess (it's awesome right before the 10pm closing time when most have left already).
One of the coolest things I used to do was walk around Cedar Point in the middle of the night by myself with no one around. Scariest moment was when my car was parked in the very very back of the front lot. I had to go back because I left my keys at my work locker at Ripcord and there was a parking ban so I couldn't park in the back Soak City lot. A massive severe storm came rolling in out of nowhere with 40mph winds around 2am and I had to mad dash to the front of the park, and then dash all the way back to my car. It was probably a good 2 miles of constant running and cutting through the pitch black employee paths. I still remember when I was running through the wooded path between Dragster and Iron Dragon and seeing a bolt come down and hit Millennium Force blinding me, then having to run through the woods and over a tiny wonky catwalk over Mantis creek. Worst though running through that huge open parking lot, I was just imaging get hit by a bolt since the lot is so damn open. (check out attachment)
Sorry for all this off topic stuff, it's just the offseason and I miss my summer a lot
But about XFlight. I am wondering how much que they are going to put in. I noticed that the new Cedar Fair coasters seem to have no more then 45min-1hour of que which is nice because typically if people see it spilling out they may just come back later.

Same here! And I fear I will like Wild Eagle more than X-Flight because I would have ridden Wild Eagle first.
(Same case scenario, I rode Griffon before SheiKra and prefer Griffon. But I know many people that prefer SheiKra over Griffon because they rode SheiKra before they rode Griffon)
Confusing, I know
I like Griffon better and rode Sheikra first. You should't get all mushy over a coaster!
decent work can be seen on the webcam today. Seems like they're in the process of putting in the foundation for part of the station and the keyhole. By part of the station I mean the small black and red building that can be seen in the 3D rendering....I think it's an elevator for handicaps, but that's just me.

Well, here in Rockford it has started snowing again but it seems to have not hit SFGAm yet. I wonder which way the snow is headed. With that said, it looks like northern Illinois winter is finally beginning! About the X-Flight queue, I wonder how many buildings it will go through if any. I would imagine it will travel through at least one that will hopefully have some theming inside.
Top 3 Steel Coasters: 1. The Incredible Hulk 2. Maverick 3. Dragon Challenge (Fireball)
Top 3 Wood Coasters: 1. The Beast 2. American Eagle (Red) 3. Hades
This is a huge addition for SFGAm so im guessing the que will be like RB, around 1-2 hours full.

Cool story! Well, maybe not for you. I would love to just walk around any theme park at night!

If you look carefully in the video of X-Flight, you can see class windows and a path to the left inside the hangar type building. This is my assumption that could be part of the queue.

I love how the drop literally dives within a few yards from Demon's track according to the animation. It's going to be weird riding Demon. You are literally going to be in the shadow of the ride on the section before heading into the corkscrews. Go to the 1:01 mark in the video.
^Few yards? Try feet. If you look at how close those footers are to demon, you can assume where the drop is. and it's close. Sure to create one awesome view from the midway.
