it will be a portable bowling alley like what was setup at SFStL last year, outside of that I think a temporary stage was mentioned also for vu's spot(well, part of it obviously).

What the heck is that? Please not another basketball game...

They should put up a big sign that reads "New coaster coming in 2009" where Deja Vu and Splashwater Falls are. "Under-construction" and "New coaster in 2009" would be acceptable by me.

Not if there's not a new coaster going in that spot, they shouldn't.

for what they put there they should put a sign saying something like "Here laid two of the best rides in Great America History, 'Sky Whirl, Deja Vu and Splash Water Falls' "

They obviously weren't the best rides in SFGAm's history or they would still be there.

^WHAT?!??!?!?!?? YOU DONT KNOW WHAT HAYBALER WAS??!??! You must be a yougin or something because you would remember what that was!

Anyway, it was a ride where v2 currently resides and was a ride where all the cars were connected, spun around super fast (~50mph i think) and the track went up and down. Here, it was like this http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=himalaya+ride&spell=1

As I said in TDK thread, I was out at South Park today checking out the progress. I also looked at VU, and noticed that nothing new appears to have been removed. Both towers are still up, so is the cobra roll and the little platform under it.

I'm thinking that they have been working on getting the station out. Soon, we will see either the cobra roll come out, or one of the towers.

With each passing day, and the fact that the towers are still there, makes me wonder how much of VU will be left at the park on opening day.

Something else to keep in mind is the private events in April. From a thread in the meetings and gatherings forum, Goku1910 is going on April 19th. While the park opens to the GP in 37 days, he will be in the park in 30 days. Goku1910 if you're reading this, make sure to bring a camera that day! :-)

^Ugh. Don't quote the person right above you. It's annoying and a waste of space.

As far as Haybaler goes, yes, it was where DV resided. Haybaler was to the left and SkyWhirl was to the right. So demonboy, if you don't know which you obviously don't, stop getting on someone elses case for not knowing.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

^ No, its "Hay Baler" See the pictrue for the proof.

Also, for those wondering what it looked like, here is a picture.

[albumimg]2152[/albumimg]

Thanks goes to Julie Stone for the pictures. Of course, I'm the one running her web site on my own Compaq DL380 in my house, so I can use them when I need, as long as I give credit to her. :) Web site on the pics is no longer valid, however. If you want the new one, PM me and I'll pass it along.

So, now I have to ask myself....Is this post considered "Off Topic" per w00dland's thread? I think we may be drifting here......

As of today, they have started removing the boomerang evacuation platform. I got a few pictures, but none of them ended up being any good :( Basically, the platform itself is gone, and the to 10ft of the stairs are gone.

Update: Deconstruction of the Cobra Roll has begun. So far, from what I could see, it looks like the right half corkscrew of it is gone. Here are some pics:

Here is a zoomed in pic(I used my camera's crop feature to get this close):

Here is all the way zoomed in without cropping it:
