What should replace Deja Vu and Splashwater Falls?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Agreed with the guy who said to have a Maverick type coaster. Not only would it be fun to ride every once in a while but combine that with Dark Knight and Superman being so popular and you can almost guarantee reduced lines at Bull and the Woodies.

Intamin's over the shoulder restraints are interesting to say the least, but they are nice. But i also cant imagine riding Dragster with them considering Kingda Ka has the OTS restraints. The more thrilling part of Dragster for me is going down the 400 foot spiral and being able to lift up your arms and feel free.

Amen sheikra13. Sheikra rocks! It is defiantly in my top 3! Plus it would pull in thousands of people, because there is no coaster like it within like 1,000 miles.

good point but the only reason why TDK is popular is because its new and new coasters are always popular(maybe not something like spaceley's). People will eventually figure out that TDK is not worth the wait at all.

yeah lol sometimes i will walk up and down the line that is still outside of the building and tell people it is not worth the wait and they usually all leave. i really do feel bad for people that wait that long for that ride. the queue is never ending, and id rather wait 2 hours and get a couple rides on Bull.

I am all for getting a new exciting mega coaster, but I know that it is probably not going to happen for a long time.

Dark Knight cost $1,000,000 more than Voyage which is 6,400+ feet long. Six Flags has also gotten two GCI wooden coasters in the past two years (SFSTL, SFMM). Im not saying SFGAm will get a new coaster anytime soon but SF has spent money on new rides.

I do think SFGAm needs some other attractions more than a new large coaster (the parade from SFGAdv would be a great addition). Shapiro used to make a big deal out of little things such as "Nightly fireworks are an important part of our strategy" then he went and cut them. Things like that makes it no surprise people are calling for a new big coaster, because Six Flags stinks at most other things.

You hit the nail on the head of our frustrations: They did spend money this year-- on something that sucks. We could have gotten a Voyage or El Toro for that kind of cash. Now we'll probably have to wait in line for another big expenditure.

Dark Knights space could've been used on a ride like MaxAir and removed Revolution. Cheaper and way more fun and intense. Why would they care about ridership in this case. Dark Knight doesn't exclusively bring crowds in, and it is only costing more and more to run considering it does have break downs and doesn't even run at full capacity. I see the cars being worked on all the time.

The only way i used to hear about Six Flags was when a big COASTER was being made, i heard no hype with The Dark Knight coaster. If no improvements are made next year, and prices are heightened even further then you can count me in for buying a Cedar Point season pass. Id much rather go there 3 times and spend my money, then go to SfGAm 10-15 times to experience nothing that thrilling, no special night show, and more and more kid rides.

I hope for everyones sake that something is officially announced regarding something big in the future whether it be next year or the year after.

Umm I saw so many Dark Knight previews I could vomit. TV, Jewel, Park District, Internet, etc. The park needs a new "wow" factor. We have not had one since Superman came along in 2003. Then again we had a new addition in 1999, 2 in 2001, and another in 2003. Ragin Cajun in 2004 and Revolution in 2005 I think and HH. We HAVE IT GOOD. Besides MM, there is no other Six Flags park I would care to visit. Not even a different version of SUperman at Six Flags New England.

You had to have not been in this country to not hear or see any of the ads for TDK and SFGAm. I used to see at least 5 a night on TV. On top of that, if you go to Jewel stores where they sell tickets and season passes, they have banners there too advertising the ride. Media day was also pretty big, I think every TV station in Chicago and Milwaukee had something about the ride, many featured 5 minute segments about the ride.

yeah i meant word of mouth, i remember hearing about Raging Bull, and Superman and the others from alot of people but not Dark Knight.

Of course they get media coverage but I barely heard about it from other people.

Its just a disappointment, the ride feels so cheap yet it is so expensive. The effects are cheesy and its to lit up in there. I had more fun on Disaster Transport because i had no idea where i was going yet that ride is over 20 years old and doesn't even function like it used to.

The Dark Knight Kind of is a waste.

They should of saved the 7 or 8 million and put it towards a decent ride.

There are so many great coaster, even thrilling family coasters, that cost less then $10,000,000. And that is actually kind of expensive for a family coaster. I now doubt we will be seeing any major coaster in the next few years.

The way I look at it...If your going to building a themed ride you have to go all out or people are going to think it sucks. Personally, I would have rather had it without the theming and outside. $10,000,000 is way too much for a coaster...but way to cheap to make a ride themed.

The Dark Knight Coaster has been open for almost 3 months. 3 months and the lines are still longer than most rides in the park. That definitely surprises me. The lines should decrease 30%-40% next year but families will always be checking it out. Was it worth almost 8 million? No. I would have rather got a new water ride and a new flat. Actually, I hope we get that next year if not a new dive machine. You don't have a dive machine anywhere close to great America. It will bring in more people than Dark Knight ever will.

Dark Knight was just a waste of money.
Lines are still long because the GP doesnt know what the ride is most of the time until they ride it and get off and say "that sucked".

^ The lines are so long because it is a new coaster and everyone wants to try whatever is new at the park.

^And because they were dumb and put in a low capacity coaster...the ride does not fit well in out park.

It's been awhile since I've been on this board, and I was on so briefly I doubt anyone remembers me. But I can't believe that this thread is still kicking.

I was at the park on Tuesday in line for Dark Knight, even though I really didn't wanna go on it because of what I've heard on this board. 10 people came out of the ride, I casually asked them how the ride was. 9 of them said it was awful. The other said it was okay, found out we were waiting 2 hours, and said we should bolt. So us and about 10 others around us left.

But back on this topic, it would be a really awkward plot of land to build a coaster in, unless they rid of the "Speedway." It'd still be a very strange layout for a coaster unless it dove underground and was capable of tight turns. Because of that, a big coaster would be out of the question. A Maverick-type ride would probably be the best option, but unless Six Flags is planning on making one of those and cloning it, I doubt GA gets one. The last ride GA got that was its own was Raging Bull.

AND Raging Bull is GA's Best Ride if you noticed.

All the B&M coasters are more popular than anything else in the park.

I really want to see them do something good with that land.

Last time I was at the park I seen something strange. There was a crane behind Fiddlers Fling.....Which, Ironically, is next to Vu's Spot. Well, Directly across from it.

Six Flags has just dumped the New England Dark Knight Coaster to Mexico and from what I hear will start construction by the end of the year. Maybe they will like it better than fans of Great Adventure and Great America? Magic Mountain was smart to pass DK.

Wow, Magic Mountain PASSED on a roller coaster? That's like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers passing on a quarterback.

They realized DK would not go over well with the general public. MM would suffer not profit from a ride with such negative feedback. They instead got that woodie which actually makes sense since they lose Psyclone in 2006.

OK don't even start with that! I just bought Bucs season tickets for like 2 grand and if Farve would have went to them, I could've made my money back, AND THEN SOME! I was pretty pissed that day.
