What should replace Deja Vu and Splashwater Falls?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby blastedmonkey on February 14th, 2008, 12:32 am
I know I'm new here, but I am a big fan of Great America. I'd like to see an emphasis put back on theming. So, instead of coasters, like I know everyone on here has a penchant for, why not put in a ride or attraction that will cater to the public and put back some of the theme into the County Fair section of the park? County Fair would be a prime place to put a small barn in and have a little petting zoo type affair for the kids and adults, even though I know some of you would be willing to burn me at the stake for mentioning adding another family friendly attraction, I think it would help the park out in the long run. Or, instead of a rollercoaster, since the park is so hard-up for money that they have gotten rid of most of their entertainment, the one thing they really had going for them last year, add something small, but in keeping with the theme of County Fair, like a Ferris Wheel or something along those lines. If I were in charge of Six Flags, at the moment, I would seriously add the County Fair Petting Zoo right there where Deja Vu used to be, complete with a big barn to add some more theme to the area, and where Splashwater Falls used to be, I would add a Ferris Wheel. I think that would cater to a decent group of people, be entertaining, stay within a small budget, and bring back something that the park has been missing and been in much need of these past years, theming.

Also, what is up with Batman and Superman? I say, cut out that section of the park right there, if that is what they are gonna be doing, and theme it into the DC Comics Plaza that other parks have gotten. I know, it doesn't go with the overall theme of Great AMERICA, but at least it's a theme, and I would at least encourage that. You have to remember, Six Flags Great America isn't a thrill park or anything of the sort. Sorry to remind people of that, even though I know we all love roller coasters. It's a THEME park. There. I think that's about all I wanted to say.

Vu's spot a direct path leading form 1 side of the park to the other, Splash water falls a screamin squarl or a eurofighter

^What?

I would love to see some more restoration before a new ride. More, new, paint, better quality gardens, clean buildings, maybe repave the midways, some more shade. I think that with dejavu gone, that area could get some nice trees and grass instead of a field of concrete, gravel, and partial que paths.

^ Actually, Our buildings are pretty clean... I bet they just fence in Vu's que for this year for not 'really' knowing what they intend to do there. I still hope it Thomas and his friends! For a guy that is 22 and is a huge fan of coasters, that is hard to say, but I think it would be a correct move for our park for not adding another coaster just yet. Maybe they will move the go-karts there in order to expand HH a little bit more. Or put Thomas by SSA. Or Thomas by Vu? Thomas by SWF?

Remember, it's all about Thomas. The best train engine that has ever been created!

^Go Karts would be funny in SWF's spot, that way the Great American Raceway seems EVEN MORE slower than it already is! :D

And as for focusing on theming, I agree, but i think (with the exception of Superman, they've done a fairly good job at that. Mardi Gras is well themed and compliments Orleans Place, Wiggles World fits in that circus tent feel pretty well (enough to make it look good there). Yeah, Dark Knight isn't much of an Orleans Place thing, but the theming of it as a ride is incredible from what i've heard, so more power to them. I think as long as they move away from the theming on par with Superman (which they have), we'll be on the right track.
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter :(

How about name the go-carts Great America Raceway instead and give Barney Oldfield back to the cars. I know it sounds stupid but I could see it.

Yukon basically died in 1998 when they expanded Bugs Bunny Land into Bugs Bunny National Park and the tore out all the trees and rerouted the midway, that stream used to run right down the center of the midway with all sorts of trees surrounding it.

As far as what I'd like to see where Vu and SWF were.

Coaster: B&M Floorless would be cool. With upto/at least 3 inversions.

Ride(s): Giant Wheel and some kind of flip-you-upside-down style ride.

Area(s) Where Vu was. A Marketplace where Six Flags could sell old merchandise. And, stalls could be set up where people with memorabilia could trade and sell their own. Where SWF was. Make it a "Tweener" zone with video games, go karts, mini golf, and a Wii area.

Just my 2 Lincolns here.
Push down, then pull up. Exit to your left/right. And, enjoy the rest of your day at Six Flags! Your friendly enthusiast Kyle.

That is really weird. But I like your idea for that motocoaster. That looks pretty sweet and it looks fun for everyone.

Oh man I remember that! Theres so much that I forgot about the park! This, then the on-rides for American Eagle....I wish I had a better memory of things.

And yes, I agree that they need to bring that area back! They should also use Wilderness Theater for something...If they brought a show to that place it might make things a little better. It would also be a chance to add some scenery.

Bring back the vine covered tunnel!

I don't know why, but I really like them. SFOG has three of them. It's just so nice to walk through them, and get out of the sun for a bit. Unfortunately, I only visited SFGAm once while it was still there, back in 1999.

I enjoy little things like that about the park. I also miss the little fountain by the Orbit, as well as the nice, quiet walkway to SWT.
Finally Coaster Season!!

Is there any way Demon's tunnel could get unbreakable lights so the top row could be put back?

I wasn't old enough either to remember the original Yukon Territory. I always remebered it as a dead and lonely place all the time! I id go in 97' and 98' but I was way too little to remember it. The only thing good about things about Yukon are it's nice and cool with some shade and a good place to hang, and LOGGER'S RUNN! That drop is really intense and fun!
