im only going to be doing the new haunt if you can pay per haunted house....last year was a disappointment paying 20 bucks and not getting scared through them...the work done to them was fantastic but the shortness(i know they dont have much room to work with) and the scare factor wasnt there......maybe if the price came down i would buy the wristband but 20 bucks for me seems high
DejaVu2001 wrote:^ Before the wristbands, it was $10-15 a house. So I don't understand how anyone can complain about $20 for everything.
that is true! but i would just do m.o.t. every year and wasnt a big deal! i just dont like not being able to buy 1 haunt...be nice to have that privilege and a wristband for all!
I'm not sure if this true but I heard last year that if you asked you could buy single house tickets for $15 bucks. If one ticket is already that much I don't see why anyone wouldn't just buy a wristband and get five more haunts for five dollars.
I don't think that was true because i called them up last year to find out the prices of the houses and they said that it was 19.99 fo the unlimited use wristband and that they weren't doing individual haunts at all. Anyone else remember when FF was open from 10:30-midnight. Also a question that has been plaguing me for the past few years is what happened to all of the fog machines that they used to have throughout the park. Was that strictly a JPM thing? I really miss that it added the absolute right amount of creep factor. Anyone else think we might see Tiny reborn on Goliath next year?

It wasn't $15 per house, it was $5, and they only sold those to Xtreme Pass Holders.
It reveals Yukon Territory will be rethemed as Deadwood Grove, Southwest Territory will be rethemed as Skull Valley, County Fair (Goliath end) will be rethemed as Grim Hollow, and Carousel Plaza will be rethemed as Purgatory Plaza. All other areas are the same as last year.
Ride changes: Rue Le Dodge is now House of Conjure instead of the long french name no one really knew how to say Fiddler's Fling is now Spider Spin King Chaos has changed back to Blood Bath East River Crawler returns as East River Kraken
Everything else is the same as last year. Prices are also the same as last year, Regular Wristband = $19.99, Express = $59.99
^Orleans Place is back to Seven Sins Cemetery as well, but I don't get why though as they redid the tombs to take off the sins, and all of the costumes are for voodoo, not the sins. Looks like a solid year though with lots of new stuff. I can't think of any other park that comes close to having 11 scare zones. I'm glad they finally ditched Tinseltown Terror and it's good to know there will still be a daytime parade as well. Hopefully Deadwood Grove will be filled with chainsaws, we've always been lacking in that department.
First weekend is the best, followed by the second weekend, and closing weekend. The 4th weekend should be avoided at all cost unless you're going just to people watch
How will the crowds be on October 12 (third weekend)? Will they be almost as bad as the fourth weekend or still manageable? (I want to get at least one haunted house and all of the B&M's+Viper+Eagle.)
"Remove this man before I commit an act of violence against him." -Ron Swanson
Third one is more influenced by weather, if it's cold, it won't be too much worse than the 2nd weekend, if it's warm, it will be just about as bad as the 4th weekend.
Bad for Fright Fest can be awful, and it can come whenever there's good weather. I was there last year on the second Sunday of October and the park was already packed at opening, with the line to get in the parking lot reaching out of the park to Joe's Crab Shack. I was there for the travel channel shoot and left right after because it was way too crowded to have an enjoyable day. The best days to get on rides during FF are the first weekend, crappy weather days, or Fridays.

Why would it be that way - that closing weekend is better than the 4th week? Is it because people are costume shopping, and getting candy that weekend?

Crowds are very large during FF. Expect longer lines than average depending on attraction. Last year I think I waited about 50 mins for Viper. House lines can be a bit long Massacre Medical Center hardly moved. General rule of thmb is warmer weather lots and lots of people slight dip in temps people leave because they are not prepared. Cold and touch rainy ghost town pun intended.
No major Fright Fest props were put up since last week. Lots of cornhusks around trees and some clown stuff in Mardi Gras. Despite being a scare zone this year, Yukon still had all the usual happy family friendly decorations. There were some things laying around in HH, but the only thing I could make out were the two small UFOS. Wicked Woods has a campground scene set up which I believe is new, the rest looked the same as last year.
I was at the park and talking to one of the ride people he said that Larry will be up on STT this week. We will have to wait and see if he knows whats going on.
