Dark Knight coaster confirmed for SFGAm in 2008

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby DejaVu2001 on February 22nd, 2008, 1:08 pm
Well, heres more on SFNE: http://www.wwlp.com/Global/story.asp?S= ... =menu600_1
The entire frame is done. That puts them slightly ahead of SFGAdv (SFGAdv will probably take the lead again now that SFNE is trapped in red tape again).

Meanwhile, SFGAm has no vertical construction whatsoever. There is no way SFGAm's Dark Knight Coaster is opening on Opening Day. SFNE has their entire building frame done, and plans to open the ride May 26th. That leaves two possibilities, either SFNE's is going to open way earlier than planned, or ours is opening way later than planned. Unfortunately, the latter seems far more likely.

Thats from their town meeting this morning, and by the looks SFNE will be in second to have the coaster done since they got the framework up.

Didn't they announce that it would be open by Memorial Day weekend, not opening weekend?

It does not look like it will open on time right now but you never know. There has been lots of snow which I sure is delaying the project.

Well, its a mouse so it wont take that long to build. The only thing they need to do is build the building. And, how long does a building really take to build? So I am assuming it will be open opening day.

Besides, we have time....

Does anyone know how long it took to build Cajun?

I think they started vertical construction around Opening Day 2004 and it opened in late May.

I realize the ride itself is easy to build. The point I'm trying to make here is that a park (SFNE) that isn't opening the ride until May 26th already has their building frame complete while ours is still dirt.

Maybe I'm just misssing it, but I was trying to find how you would find that link on the actual page itself. For example, on The Dark Night page
http://www.sixflags.com/greatAmerica/ri ... aster.aspx
It does not list anywhere something like "Click here for Construction Photo's".

While I know the link is real, I am just not seeing a page on the site that linked to it.

Go figure...

Hrmm...how did that guy get to where he did... My guess is he jumped the fence cause I am sure that fence extends to that lake and past it. If that is true, then he is brave. I'm not complaining though. I am always up for pics on TDK! :)
