Is splashwater Falls being removed??

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Eagle does need a few touchups. It seems like it has had a small popularity boost this season though. Also, does anyone know if red side will actually be running for Fright Fest?

I actually thought it has gotten smoother since most of the retracking is almost complete. Only a few sections left that need to redone and it will be all good. Maybe it seems rougher in certain areas cause the new track makes it very smooth untill you hit the old part and then you're all over the place in your seat. New trains would be great and a remodel of the station maybe with new themeing or something.
Just my opinion.

I hope they'll run it backwards on the blue side because I loved to go on that backwards. Speaking of the backwards on AE, I still hear people in line for Eagle getting exciting about riding backwards, and they don't notice that they no longer have it backwards until they actually get on the ride. I also feel that both sides of AE should always be running because each track should be treated like a different coaster. AE is not one rollercoaster! I hate that it's treated like one....

I think that the eagle has the best first drop out of the coasters at great america.

I agree. I noticed that the bench is loose on the second row in the first car on one of the red trains.

"It needs new trains and would be so much better" is the most over-used not accurate statement in the ACEr community. Eagle Red will be getting a new train next year, I dont think itll make the ride that much better.

^You might be right, but it obviously couldn't hurt.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

The benches ARE a little loose in the back, but i don't know if a whole new train would be necessary. I also thought Eagle was very smooth this year, up until the part where they haven't retracked yet....

will the new train have home made POS lap bars? if so, I see little point in the park spending on new trains :)

I had to register to say a few things.

First, Deja Vu's proximity to Splash Waterfalls is not close enough for them to both be removed in order to place one new ride. Unless, they plan to reroute the main midway again so that you must go through Southwest Territory which, they tried once before and it didn't work out well. The footprint of Splash Waterfalls is not large enough to accomodate much unless we end up seeing the return of Z-Force. If, in fact, a large ride or coaster is to be placed in the area, my money would be on the removal of Demon. It has a lot of downtime these days and the corkscrews are quite rough.

Second, The American Eagle's safety does not rest soley in the hands of Shapiro. He is not the only person making decisions. Even though it is his favorite, they're not going to keep a ride if the cost of maintaining it goes too high. The fact that it is being/has been re-tracked says that it's here to stay though. The structure needs work though. Have you noticed that the entire station sways about 4 inches when the trains hit the final brake run? That eventually will cause a big problem and I can't help but wonder what might be wrong with the parts of the structure where you are in motion and don't notice it. As for the backwards blue side, not likely gonna happen again after the lawsuit unless they get new trains.

Finally, as much as people were outraged by the idea before, I think Whizzer's future may be in jeopardy because of the high costs of maintenance. It is the last of it's kind in this country and most parts likely have to be fabricated by the park itself. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Demon go or Iron Wolf (I know! I know! It's the first B&M but, it is outragiously painful to ride and after this year, pretty much everyone I know has vowed to not ride it again. I had to leave early the last time I rode it because of the headache it caused.)

I miss the days of the park getting a innovative and/or record breaking coaster every couple of years like when I was growing up. I love Deja Vu and V2 but I was a little dissapointed to see cloned rides coming in. And don't even get me started on how dissapointing I think Superman is. It would be nice to get really excited again about a new project but, I'm not holding my breath for 2008. Hope they prove me wrong.

^ demon isn't going anywhere. it may have some downtime, but look at the height restriction (42'') its the perfect ride for kids who have grown out of the wiggles world thing, but aren't quite tall enough for rides like bull or superman.

I can see Iron Wolf being given the boot, but the only thing that would save it is the fact that it's still pretty popular with the guests, well atleast everytime I go there, IW has a line atleast a half hour long.

I'm pretty sure Demon has some of the least downtime out of all the other coasters in the park.

I have been stuck on or in line during breakdowns for Demon at least 10 times in 2 years. Considering I average about 15 visits a year that's over 30% of my visits. On the plus side, I've gotten quite a few free drink and cut-to-the-front-of-the-line vouchers for being stuck on the ride.

If anything were to go, I think it would be Iron Wolf. It's almost like that location is cursed. Z-Force is gone and now IW's future is possibly in jeopardy.

I wouldn't call that location cursed. Z-force was never supposed to be at Great America that long, because Six Flags was trying a new coaster rotation system back then. Also, Iron Wolf has been around for 17 years, which is a pretty substantial amount of time.

^yeah, longer than Shockwave got to live and look at superman, talk about a cursed spot....

As a quick comment, I think after Deja Vu, our park is done with first of their kind clones....

Wait a second. I don't know if I'm the only one who saw this.
Go to Wikipedia.org, click "English" and type Six Flags Great America into the search bar located to the left. In the "contents" section you will see a link that says 10.1 Roller Coasters. Click this link and look at the bottom of the list.

Do you think it's a technical mistake? Or was it once a rumor, and Wikipedia, um, needs to update? Or is it true?
Eh.......I got nothing.

I hope that it's not true... Another 'faimly' ride.. Why don't we just get Thomas the Train! Since we have The Whiggles, Camp Cartoon Network, and that other kids thing... Plus, we have Mardi Gras that is all kids!

I doubt Great America would do another Batman themed ride. Like rcoaster said anyone can contribute to that site, and it's notorious for having unreliable info.

Exactly^. Another coaster would be out of the question if they removed these rides it will costs them more money to actually removed and replace Deja Vu or SWF with a new one if they were to do it. GA is better off just retheming the whole area and adding a cheap flat ride somewhere or just upgrading SWF or DEJAVU so they wont have to be removed.

What about where the dippin dots is in South West Territory? Theres a decent amount of space there, even though a batman theme would 'fit' there... but still space.

Dippin Dots are awesome!
