Is splashwater Falls being removed??

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Would it be cool to have a water coaster either at SFGAm or SFGAm's HH? I think it would but it would have to be more thrilling than Dive to Atlantis A.K.A. BORING!!!!

Well, as far as I'm concerned, these markings don't exist...

Wow.

I guess I never really realized how much of a pain some of these rides are for Great America to deal with. All of these issues with Splashwater Falls are sort of interesting. It seems strange that the park's newest water ride (excluding the water park) has the most issues. I understand that it's more than twenty years old, but it just seems strange. Is this a problem that applies only to Great America's ride? Or are other rides like this in the same boat? I suppose I can understand to an extent, because there are plenty of parks with Arrow flumes, and Intamin is of course still around, but I haven't heard of anything new coming from Hopkins in a long time. Did they go out of business?

I don't necessarily buy the fact that we have no need for water rides now that we have a water park. Not everyone wants to get in swimsuits and go down water slides, and the water park can only accomodate so many people. If Splashwater Falls leaves, there is no water ride option for people on that side of the park if they don't want to go to Hurricane Harbor.

And I think that that area where SSA and the go karts are is just begging to be torn down and replaced by a water park expansion. Keep the Pictorium and Sky Trek Tower (and reroute its queue so its how it used to be) but get rid of everything else. It's such an out of the way area and totally unthemed and unshaded. It just needs to go.

Good spot for a separate water park entrance

That area should be used for future park expansion and not for the water park which is big enough.
They have done a decent job with the water park, but it is the main park that needs something new(if something is to be added) and not the water park.

Anyone else think this will help the company's debt problems?!

Well original plans had a separate gate for the water park with a separate admission. They were even selling combo season passes and then all of a sudden they pulled them! Why they changed plans at the last min., guess we will never know. I do think that in the very near future though that it's possible that it will become a separate park with a separate admission. But then if they were planning this I dont think they would be removing water rides from the park. Doesn't really make all that sense!

I think it would be smart to add a water coaster to HH. It will make lines for the water slides a bit smaller. It would increase the parks coaster count, and i'm sure that there not that expensive(please correct me if i am wrong)

Well, at the time, making the waterpark free was the best option. It gave people the "you can try it if you want to" attitude and attracted way more people to it than it would have if it was seperate admission. However, now that people have been there, and it's clear that most like it and consider it a decent waterpark, it can have that extra admission and people will still go. It's like the rock climbing wall at Dick's Sporting Goods. For the first month it was free so people would give it a try and like it. Then, when the reaction was positive, they realized that they could get away with charging extra for it, and people would pay. I know that isn't the greatest analogy, but you get what i'm saying.

We still don't have anything more than raw speculation on this though, do we?

as for the water park, the setup at Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun in Kansas City MO is interesting. you can go to one, or the other, or both. but they've got a lot more water park for your money, so it makes sense to charge to get into the water park.

Funnily enough, the first time I was there, it was a roasting hot day, and the waterpark and amusement park shared atleast one ride, which was VERY similar to splashwater falls. I dont know if it was the same design or not, but it operated the same way. and on the amusement park side of the ride queue, there were tons of people lined up. and on the waterpark side, we barely had to wait at all. so, we were repeatedly riding on it, while going past all these people who were standing there in line forever, waiting on the other side of the fence. it must have been infuriating to see.

Agreed. I spent a whole 2 hours in their waterpark and finished everything. Only slide worth riding was the family slide if you have 4 people in it.

Hmmm I have a feeling you guys are in your little worlds right now. Just because something closed earlier then it supposed to, it doesn't mean it's being taken out. SWF it's closed for more then 2 weeks now, if they wanted to get it down, they would do it by now. Like for Exmpl SFSTL is doing. Or they would be in process.
A for 2008 like I said before Teens, Families will be pleased. And that's all you gonna hear from me.
Six Flags Ameirca as the number 1 park at SFI.... this is JOKE!
