My 8 year old son got in line with guys from his wrestling team at about 6:15. They got to the front of the line close to 7:45, but there was some downtime with the ride and they didn't ride until a little after 8. From an 8 year old perspective, he called it "The greatest ride ever built". He rode back row. I wanted to buy the picture from the ride, but the trash in the seat in front of him was nice enough to throw gang signs while her friend flipped off the camera. They were also nice enough to stick their hands up high enough that even by zooming in, their hands were still in the picture.
He told me that their is very little pressure on the thighs from the restraints during the drop and inversions. He thought it was worth the long wait. The bad thing about getting an review from an 8 year old is that typically, all rides are "awesome". The good part is that he isn't old enough to tell us what he thinks we want to hear, he'll say exactly what he thinks. Based on his review....we give it a huge thumbs up and his teammates agreed. Consider this coaster "Scorpion Wrestling Club Approved"!
I love the boarding pass idea. Too many idiots physically push their way to the front of the line. Thankfully, my wrestlers (all state placers!) didn't have to protect their place in line against the morons.
I remember when they started the boarding passes back when Batman opened. Then for awhile they had them on all the big rides. Curious why they stopped them on the other rides?
I think this is definitely going to be the #1 or close to #1 favorite ride in the park for most visitors. They definitely made a good selection. It's going to be very popular.
I just hope they are able to improve the boarding process. 3 minute intervals people are reporting..yikes. 3 minute intervals gives a theoretical throughput of 480 people per hour. Having to first check seatbels and then check lapbars...yuck. Of course, it just opened, so hopefully this gets better.
How many employees are in the station checking restraints? Usually, when a new ride opens, Great America has a million ride ops working it - then they drop it down to two the next year lol (exaggerating!). I was wondering are they doing the same for Goliath?
I've been in line now since 10:50am, just halfway through the old queue house. They did have a issue that took about 15 mins to get it back up and running. So so far 2.5 hours in line.

There was one op on each side of the train checking restraints, unless there were two per side, each covering half of the train, but I did not really notice. The throughput is definitely bad right now, and I trust it will improve over time. But you have those riders who do not know how to fasten a seatbelt, and I saw a guy put down his lap bar not even realizing there was a seatbelt, so those knuckleheads slow things down even more. I timed the dispatch intervals a couple times yesterday and it varied between 2 and 2:30 minutes, so 3 was definitely possible.
While I was in line for Goliath yesterday I over heard people talking about when the next coaster will come. Goliath just opened so it's too soon to think about when GA's next coaster will come. As for where Goliath lands in my favorite GA coaster list, I place Goliath in forth behind X-Flight, Raging Bull and Batman the Ride.
Today I waited 4 and 1/2 hours for Goliath. It broke down four times (I'm not lying!) while I was waiting, during the 2nd breakdown, the red train got stuck on the lift hill and wasn't put back on the track while I was at the park, which eventually caused a lot of people to just leave the line after hearing "Attention Gladiators. Goliath is experiencing a temporary delay. We don't know how long the wait will be. Thank you for your patience," about 10 times. The dispatches were a bit long, but the crew is just getting use to the ride so we can't blame them, and as some other people said, some people didn't know there was a seat belt . Just as I was about to board, I saw some people from maintenance walk up to the station. The ride operator started talking, but it WASN'T another breakdown luckily. One guy was like "Dude, don't scare us like that!" Overall, Goliath is an incredible ride! The drop is AMAZING and the inversions are pure awesomeness. My only problem with Goliath is it's duration, but it was crammed in Iron Wolf's spot so I guess we couldn't really expect something really long.
Everyone should stop complaining. Within 2 years we got two amazing coasters. We all were upset we did not get a major new ride since 2003. Now we have 2. We have a killer coaster lineup. No bad seeds to be found. And RC is gone! yay!

The only "negative" reviews I've seen at all are people saying that it's not as good as (insert other world class coaster here). And that's fine, personally I don't care exactly how it compares to other rides in far away parks I'll never go to, I just want a really fun ride that I can go on all summer at my home park, and by all reports we've got that.
I rode it last night at CAD and it was awesome! It was foggy and dark. The man in front of us wasn't able to ride because of his weight, since the restrain didn't close. All of the other waits were <5 but Goliath was 1 hr. and 30 min. Was the best ride EVER! We were in line and the ride did break down with the breakdown message "Attention Gladiators, GOLIATH is experiencing a temporary delay and we do not know how long the delay will be."
I was surprised how short the lines were for all the other coaster when I was on Goliath's opening. Hurricane Harbor wasn't open at BB was not running. I am going back July 3 and maybe July 8. I have a friend who wanted to go on June 19 but he couldn't. I really don't see where a new Goliath queue line could be built. I think for now the line set up in front of the railroad station is the all were see for now.

Some people have, but they got locked. But that was in April, and now the announcement is in two months so I think if someone started one, it would be reasonable.
