Well considering all the visuals say "Coming Summer 2014", I think it's a given that this won't be complete by opening day next year. With the proximity of the construction site to Picnic Grove/Necropolis, I just don't see them really doing anything major on the site until the park closes for the season.

That makes perfect sense. I think they did not start X Flight's construction till the park closed. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that.
Heard on a Facebook page that large packages covered with a white tarp have appeared...these may contain pieces of Goliath and I would expect to see the lift hill start to go up late October

Oh yeah, because all the footers are already poured for it. Honestly, there aren't even any footers poured yet. But while I was at this weekend I did notice one thing. Near the first Iron Wolf footers for the lift hill, there was an orange marking and a wooden stake in the ground painted orange at the top. I then noticed that "RMC" was written on it, so that obviously stands for Rocky Mountain Construction so we should hopefully see some exciting things happen soon. Also talking to a security guard in Necropolis, we were talking about Goliath. He said that construction for this ride should be more exciting than it wad for X-Flight and he said that the tunnel will actually go under the service road. So I hope that's true because that would be awesome.
Ok maybe I got a little excited seeing wood show up...also I always thought the tunnel would go under the service road I was a little thrown off when they posted the pictures off flags next to the service road

The tunnel will be right next to Spacley's Sprocket Rockets.

The only thing about the layout I would change is to take out the 180 hangtime machine from the fifth circle of hell, replace it with 1-2 airtime hills, and make the "twist and shout" more of a horseshoe roll with a barrel roll at the entrance and exit. You get more inversions, more airtime, and a better ride overall.

I'm a little bummed that they changed the format though. This version is not as versatile as last year's. The auto-timelapse feature is neat, but again, you can't exactly export it very easily.

Last year's? I don't remember one for igNight. I am hoping you are referring to the X-Flight one. One reson they might've changed the format is to prevent people from moving the camera around and zooming in like they did with the X-Flight one. Just one reason why I think they might've changed it.
it's interesting that they're using precast footings. that should certainly speed up the process. i don't follow rollercoaster construction very closely, has this become standard practice for wood coasters? back in the day when i followed this stuff more closely, i seem to remember that poured in place footings were used across the board for wood or steel coasters.
