The holding 'brakes' blew a electrical control or storage component. These components are not normally stocked and have a long lead time to make (At least 4 months...)

^Thanks for clearing that up.

V2 does take some crowds in the north-eastern side of the park away though. Although much of the crowds is either in Southwest or the middle of the park. It still stinks that it'll be closed because I usually get bored without it.

V2 is one of my favorite rides in the park. For me the best 2 rides are right next to each other BTR and V2. I know everybody says RB but There is nothing like getting yanked up the back spike at 65 MPH.

Wow this topic is kind of heated. It's really not a big deal. Sure, it's a major ride that will be down, but think about it this way. The weather in early April is unpredictable, as seen from last weeks snow storm. V2 generates a lot of power and needs to be fairly warm to operate properly. With the weather being very inconsistant, it would be much safer to delay V2's opening than risk damaging the ride by trying to run it while the weather is cold and have it be down most, if not, all of the season.

V2 is one of the easiest rides to get running in cold weather... Whizzer is the hardest...

Im sure management knew in advance that the park was opening earlier this year, and unless V2's problems were brand new/unexpected it should have been ready for opening day. And even if the problem is fairly new they could have the ride running if they were willing to spend the proper time/money to get it running. They would spend the monye if it had to do with there flashpass system, im sure!!!

It was stated that the frames are being replaced. So I don't think it is GA fault that that V2 will not be open on opening day. Lets blame that on Intamin. Storm Runner and Fahrenheit won't open with Hershey Park. Are you going yell at Hershey. It was a short off season and if only V2 is down that is pretty good. As for the off season the first month is basically preparing the rides for winter and removing trains and cars. The last month of the off season is de-winterizing rides put trains and cars back on and testing the rides. So for 3 months of rehab I think the park did a pretty good job.

Why is it Whizzer? Is it because of the hills it has? Has Whizzer ever valleyed during the season during cold weather? I would only imagine that V2 does better in the cold because of the heat it gives off. You go in Mr. Freeze with no air conditioning, and that place is quite hot even though it might be around 70 outside.

That makes sense to me to put a ride in a building so the heat outside doesn't get the LIMs, but yet they don't put the air-conditioning on sometimes, and the heat is trapped with more heat. It's like it's suffocating itself.

Whizzer can't really valley, it has anti-rollbacks at the tops of all the hills. It can get stuck on the anti-rollbacks in the cold though.

Wasn't it stuck on a anti-rollback opening day last year?

Considering the minimal turnout for April in general from the general public, not to mention such an early opening weekend, we should be happy V2 is the only major ride down. Don't go if you want everything to look like it does in June and July. Wait till then. My friend drove by the park today. Lots of cars in the lot and Superman/Giant Drop/Eagle were testing

V2 wasnt running Sat April 11, 2009/

And SF had a very long offsesason where they should haver been able to have every ride up and running from opening day. As for Hershery Park, i dont care as i wont be going to that park this year.

Why should Hershey not be held to the same standards you have for SFGAm? Hershey is a far superior park. I don't see what difference it makes if you go there or not.

Hey Guys,

Wow, that's a great pic! I'm really excited to go this year! But how can it be a Great American experience without V2? IT CAN'T! I hope all is well with V2 once everything is back to normal......
I can't wait! :)

If you examine the photo you can see whats different about V2. Compare old pictures to the new and you can see it.

Okay,

So I'm a little confused here. Everyone's saying that they are still waiting for the holds & what not, but if so, they wouldn't be putting on the cars yet(or does it not matter if they have the brake to put on the cars).

On the other hand, people are saying that they have the holds. If that's the case, why are the putting on the cars already?

So, wouldn't the new hold already be on if they are putting on the cars?

Lastly, do they take the trains off during Winter? Does it normally take a long time to put on the cars/trains?

Thanks!
