I think that we have a pretty good balance of thrill rides and kiddie areas. Though I'm not completely sure we truly need three kiddie areas (we could have put wiggles world in one of the other sections and taken either BBNP or CC out) I'm really impressed with Wiggles World. I think it's the best of all three sections. We don't need a new thrill ride every year. Families are very important to Six Flags.
For the user above me, I truly think that we are lucky to have 13 rollercoasters. While a few of them aren't my favorites, at least we have them. We could have six rollercoasters and they could all suck? Would you prefer that? Eventually we should get a new big coaster, but it's not necessary to have a new huge rollercoaster every year.
Thanks for posting! I personally would have 6 good rides rather than 6 good rides and 7 or so others that are awful! That way, the 7 bad rides could turn into good, adrenaline pumping, exhilarating roller coasters!!!
Also, I think that the park needs to add a "big" roller coaster within the next 3 years, because I have been on Raging Bull so many times! Superman: Ultimate Flight to.
^I just want to remind you that it is your opinion that the other coasters are awful. I personally love all the coasters at GAm (with the exception of B:TR) and feel lucky that we have such a good collection. Look at the other Great America. They can't really say much. I mean, they have the WORST ranked wooden coaster in the country, which is far from our AE or Viper. I think that you should try to take a different outlook, and maybe you'll appreciate what we have a little more.
CoasterDave316 wrote:I respect both of your opinions, and I thank you for actually using proper spelling and grammar in your posts. That's something most new people can't seem to grasp.
Now I can either take this time and write out a big long message why I disagree with the majority of what your saying or I can sum it up in a few words.
Ill choose the later.
Your both insane.
That is all.
Let them have their fun..

I would like to say that I do largely enjoy the 6 great roller coasters that Six Flags Great America has to offer. And yes, I do understand that there are other parks in the U.S. that are just awful, and are very lack luster and have very little to offer. However, is it so bad that I want our Six Flags Great America to be more like Cedar Point? I want more thrills, more thrills, more thrills. Greedy? I don't think so! I just want our amusement park to be known all over the U.S.
Ok, I think its time I jump in and say something here.
I will be the first to admit that I am a coaster enthusiasts, and would love if the park added a big coaster every year.
However, the truth is that, the park needs people from every walk of life to make it. They need the families who spend the money in the park, they need the people who will ride the big and bad coasters. They need everyone to make it. They cannot survive on families alone. They also cannot survive on the thrill seekers either (as someone pointed out already).
I am very happy with every coaster and every ride that is in the park. SFGAm has a great collection of rides, for both the thrill seeker (RB, Superman, B:TR, etc), as well as families (Whizzer, Spacely Sprocket Rockets, and all the flats). We have been blessed with a great collection of everything. We have 2 wood coasters (one racing) and 8 steel coasters (impulse/lim launch, suspended, flying, looping, family, kiddie, mouse, and indoor). While we may not have every coaster in the record books for the fastest, or the tallest, or the whatever, you have to admit that we have a diverse collection of coasters for everyone.
Personally, I love all the coasters at the park, and would be upset if the park ever took any out. Sure, I know that the day will come that rides like Whizzer or Demon, or others will be replaced with newer or faster or better rides. When that day comes, I will look back on the rides that I have had on the ride being replaced and remember all the fun I had. I will then look forward to what ever changes the park will make, and know that, while it may suck, change will happen, and it does happen for a reason.
I've been going to SFGAm for 32 years, and no matter what the park does, I will continue to go, and buy a season pass every year until the day they close their gates. Which, I hope never happens.
Hi, again, see you Saturday! However, I disagree with you. Even thought that families take their children to SFGA, they should have a separate side of the park for that sort of things. I think that would be the best idea in order to still keep a somewhat "family" orientated place around the park.
Sincerely to the person that I am going to SFGA Memorial weekend,
-jbujwit10
With all due respect, you make it sound like kids should be isolated like the smokers are. Give me a break. I have two kids myself, and have been taking them for the past 5 years to Great America. Maybe they should put a section for my little "tykes" in a corner of the park.
However, is it so bad that I want our Six Flags Great America to be more like Cedar Point? I want more thrills, more thrills, more thrills. Greedy? I don't think so! I just want our amusement park to be known all over the U.S.
Greedy. YES. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. I want our park to be like Cedar Point. I want more thrills. I want our park to be known all over the U.S. I, I, I, I. I hate to tell you this, but YOU are NOT the only one who visits Great America. As far as the thrill coasters at Cedar Point: well, you can have about half of them, because the other half are just ok, or just bad. This topic has been beaten to death here. Burhke catered to the thrill seekers and where did it get the company? Drowning in a sea of debt. When I see topics, and discussions like this, I just have to stop and shake my head. I agree with cycamps. Take a different look at what we have. We are known in the U.S. We are known as one of the best Six Flags park in the chain.
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.
Thanks a lot for your post! I do think that we have one of the top 7 best Six Flag's parks in the U.S, but I would really like to be more like a Six Flags Great Adventure. However, I guess for now I will have to respect what we have with Raging Bull, Superman: Ultimate Flight, Batman: The Ride, V2, American Eagle, and Viper.
Cove26flags wrote:We have 13 already, use what we have and it's not like they all suck. They're all great coasters and when the opportunity comes around to put in another coaster, they probably will.
I almost had a heartattack! You are so WRONG. There are definately coasters out of the 13 that SUCK!!!!
For example: 1. Whizzer 2. Demon 3. Iron Wolf 4. Ragin Cajin
So there!!!! 4 out of 13 Suck!!! And only 6 out of 13 are Good!!! Thanks to jbujwit10 saying:
"This, however, I disagree with. Out of the 13 roller coasters, here are the true good ones: 1. Raging Bull (awesome) 2. Superman: Ultimate Flight (good) 3. Viper (great) 4. Batman the Ride (ok) 5. V2" 6. American Eagle (jbujwit10 forgot this one, its ok)
So to rest my case, only 6/13 are good and 4/13 totally SUCK!!!
I say we spend some more moola and thrill rides!!!! And take out the ones that suck to make room for some better coasters.
GO THRILL SEEKERS!!!!!!!!!
With much love and devotion to roller coasters, Bethania22x, and don't you forget it!!!
I Love Roller Coasters! I Love The Adrenaline! I Love Winded Hair! I Love Theme Parks! I Love Warm Pretzels! LOL
Hi my sincere friend Bethania22x(a true lover of Raging Bull),
Thanks for you post on this topic in which I created. There has been a lot of havoc on this topic, and I'm sure much more to come.
Anyways, thanks for agreeing for me, and I am sorry for not talking about American Eagle.
Rides like Whizzer, regardless how sweet it is to have your lil' girlfriend in you lap, which you can just do at home, or the fact that it is the last roller coaster like that around, or the fact that it is one of 2 of the oldest roller coasters in the park, it needs to go, and NOW! Now is the time!!! Just imagine a new, bigger roller coaster that you can enjoy!
However, I still would like to mention that I respect the good roller coasters at the park. Those are the one's that keep me coming each and every year! And a big thanks to SFGA for that!
Bethania22x wrote:With much love and devotion to roller coasters, Bethania22x, and don't you forget it!!!
Hey, I don't think that what you said above was very nice!!! If I forget it, then I do, okay?!!! HAHAHA!
^^ I agree with you. I think we're lucky to have such a variety. I went to Cedar Point a few years ago, and not to offend the fanboys here, but I much prefer SFGAm. While there are a lot of high thrill coasters there, I didn't think many of them were that great. Yes, I do think it's greedy to only think about the thrill seekers in this idea. Shapiro's plan was to make the park more family friendly. If you don't like the family atmosphere, then don't go. It's that simple. You just have to realize that it's not all about the teenagers. Plus, if we gear it towards families, we may get a whole new generation of theme park enthusiasts, and they have to start somewhere.
Honestly, when it comes to coasters, you really cannot be the judge of what coasters are good and have to go. Keep in mind that what opinion and insight on these coasters we have may not generally be something the public would agree on. I have gotten off Iron Wolf with my ears bleedling while hearing little kids say that Iron Wolf was the best ride they've ever been on. Also, keep in mind that some people have grown up with Whizzer and have so many memories of it. While it may not be appealing to you Bethan or JTw something, you have to realize that to other people, this roller coaster is an important memory that they charish and have been fond of their entire lives. I can think of plenty of older coasters out there that are still operating like the Coney Island Cyclone. Rides like those are not being torn down because they're still appealing, just like the Whizzer. Oh, and don't forget about the fact that Whizzer was supposidly saved from being demolish because of the public outcry for Whizzer that was suppose to be replaced by Superman. Clearly, it goes to show that the public would rather treasure an older coaster than have it replaced by a newer, more innovative ride.
By the way, many other parks in the world would kill to have the collection of rides we have. I personally would rather have the nice theming, some good roller coasters and awesome ride operations to a higher class roller coaster lineup at Magic Mountain with one train on each coaster waiting in line for hours to get on them.
Well yeah but if you look at it in a business aspect, it makes more sense that we have the line-up of coasters that we have. Personally I think these rides are great and will continue to be great for years to come:
Superman-The Ultimate Flight Batman-The Ride Raging Bull American Eagle Viper Iron Wolf Vertical Velocity Demon Ragin Cajun Wizzer And soon Dark Knight These coasters are all great because they appeal to all ages. We have an amazing skyline to our park but we really don't need to add anymore to it right away. The coaster that we have are fine and we really don't need anymore in the immediate future, at least until SIx Flags can take care of their debt.
^^You've both made some very insightful posts that I really agree with. People need to stop complaining about what we don't have, and start appreciating what we do have. Sure, I'd love a new coaster or thrill ride, but I'm totally O.K. with what we have, and I think others need to be pleased to.
Here's a way for some people to "get rid" of the coasters they don't like.
Don't ride them. Don't Look at them. Pretend they aren't there. Ride a coaster that you do like if they bother you so much.
I personally love Demon, Whizzer, and Iron Wolf. Whizzer is unique and in my opinion the best family ride i've been on, Demon is one of the only smooth Arrow looping coasters still around, and Iron Wolf is the best standup coaster I've ever been on.
^ WHOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO! Ding Ding Ding! Bells and whistles! Man, that is exactly how I feel to. I think that a lot of people are going to come back tonight/today with negative reports about tdk and stuff like that also. If you do not like it, don’t ride it! It's a really simple concept. Same goes with the flat rides in which I think our park has a GREAT assortment of flats and would not give them up for anything, although, there are a couple that I don't know even exist because I choose to ignore them. Bottom line exactly what CoasterDude12-2 said!
I don't understand why you said that! If you are here just to "bash" people, then I do not think it makes sense for you to post a reply!
All that was intentioned here was to talk about my favorite theme park... SIX FLAGS GREAT AMERICA!!!
Thanks for the reply regardless,

all he was doing was pointing out how dave is thanking you guys for using proper grammar and in the same post he said Your both insane when it should have been You're both insane
Oh man does this bring back memories! Anyways, I still wish SFGA would go more toward Thrill Seekers & get some new roller coasters, like bigger one's instead of The Dark Knight. Although it was something new that added diversion, why couldn't it be a bigger, faster, & cooler roller coaster inside?
WOW! I haven't been on this forum in forever! I love everything about Six Flags! My opinions have changed. Families and Thrill Seekers should be joined as one and fun for all! ROLL ON!

Haha, yea, I guess what I want is more of a dream than anything, haha. But great times w/ these forums.
I disagree earlier on this topic even though it's an old topic about the park having 25 thrillseeker rides compared to 22 non thrillseeker rides. You got to be kidding me. The thrillseeker people aren't even going to count the bumper cars as a thrill. They probably are going to disclude Ragin Cajun, and Dark Knight also.
My opinion is that the flats are aging, and some of them should be replaced. Hey, a Flying Bobs is a ride for both thrillseekers, and the family. They put back the Wipeout at Six Flags New England. How about a ride like that?
When the park is packed, these roller coasters are getting 800 - 1000 people per hour, and the lines are more than a hour. Triple Play when packed might be a 2 cycle wait except when it's extremely packed park, and you might have to wait 3 times. Big whoop. Don't forget though that a family can be a mom, a dad, a teenager, and someone 10 years old. I'm not sure about heights, but maybe a 10 year old can get on a ride like Superman. I know the teenager could. So, the family unit is always just 4 year olds either.
Again, about the Wiggle's World that just didn't make sense is that similar rides to those were in other places of the park. If you are going to use a Wiggle's license, how about doing something better like a dark ride? It was just wasted on copies of other rides already in the park.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
