Earlier I had this really long winded thing I wrote up and then my computer froze and crashed so I never got to post it but essentially though, I feel very strongly about American Eagle and I truly feel that something is needed similar to X2 for American Eagle. By far it is the most majestic and iconic ride at the park. Personally The American Eagle is my favorite roller coaster ever to date! The park over that past 27 years has put a lot of work into maintaining the ride to its original form. But In the past 27 years not much has really changed, which is good!
THEN 6 trains total-NOW 4 Trains Total
Ride Control System/Braking System
Re-tracking
New Roofing on the station
New queue until the bridge
Trains have been butchered to the current form their in now...
But other than that not much has changed. If something similar to X2 was going to happen for American Eagle the park would obviously need to look at the money and logical costs associated with rebuilding this ride. With a popularity that over the years will deteriorate is it a good choice for them to take the Eagle as we know and love it and turn it into a whole new kind of Eagle? When you think Great America you think American Eagle, Raging Bull, Whizzer, Carousel. So I say yes! The park already spends many millions of dollars currently maintaining American Eagle I believe that it is smart to take on a project such as American Eagle 2?
If it were to happen there are many things that could change
-New dynamic ride control system that monitors the brake pressure throughout the day to a constant level on both sides. As well as system to monitor the chain lift speed. Similar to other Racing/Dueling Coasters so there is a perfect race every ride!
-New 3 bench PTC trains or just a major overhaul on the existing trains like what is happening this season.
-Flip the Station Entrance and the Exit similar to Gemini's station.
-Add the On Ride Photos back and put the purchasing point at the exit!
-Put booster tires back in the brake shed to make sure the train comes quicker back into the stations for smoother loading/unloading.
In the end though it really is a matter of money, popularity, and what the logical decision would be! I truly hope Six Flags restores this gem to a world class experience!

I ment for that to be for rielyboy. As Brian said, he deleted a few posts. Sorry for the confusion.
Actually, RagingBullFan said that, not me. However, him and I have the same icon next to our name, so I can see why you may have been confused.
My reason for using that icon is that is the ride I ran when I worked at the park (1988-1992). However, to avoid problems in the future, maybe I will look at changing it.
Also, thanks DejaVu2001 for pointing out the proper date when Eagle had the seatbelts return. Not only was that the same year that Viper got them, it was also the same year that Columbia had them as well!
BrianPlencner wrote:Speaking of Buzz Bars, Eagle actually opened with them on the trains. They were replaced a few years later with the current lap bars that we have today.
I also remember a period of time that the seat belts were not there (just the lap bars). Then, sometime in 2001 or 2002, the seat belts came back.

I knew that but I didn't know there used to be no seatbelts.

^^Sorry about that. I guess I looked at your display picture.
I would LOVE to have an on-ride photo for Eagle. I'd buy that in an instant, as I'm sure others would too. It's sort of like having On-ride photos for Spacely's. The kids ride the ride, want the photo, and make their parents buy it for them. It'd be the same here. Other than Demon, this is a lot of people's first "big" coaster, and I could see them making some profit.

Eagle had an on ride up until a few years ago. I have one from probably a decade ago, has a message from Jim Wintrode in it saying something or other about thanking you for visiting the park and riding the ride and spending your $$ on a pic or something along those lines (I honestly have no idea where it is, but I know it's probably right next to my Shockwave Onride)
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
I remember the Eagle on rides! I have one red and two blue ones. One blue one is from my first ride on it, then the second one was when it was backwards.
I also have a Shockwave one
And wasn't there one on Batman before 97? Because I swear I had a on-ride from Batman but I can find one. And I wish I had it because it was my first time on it.

Yeah, This year is gonna be my little cousins first year to ride Demon. I told her it's like a giant slide. Didn't tell about the hangbanging but she's only 5 so. I also told her I'll ride it with her I just need my best friend in my pocket, ADVIL! An every day theme park pain reliever.
