Storage Bins

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Danhockey04 on July 17th, 2004, 7:50 pm
Coaster_Cop, the thefts began at 11:00 and continued throughout the day.

Brad, I am not trying to start a fight, I know they could have gotten a locker, and I know that would have been the smart thing, but most people think that the bins are just as safe.

David, not to be rude or anything, but this is not funny because it would have never happened if it weren't for you, you urged them to go on for a third time, dont ever say that this was funny.

I know the park is not responsible for items lost in the bins because they tell you that right by, if not on the bins.

Let's just back on topis, are the bins really safe?

First, I was not yelling at you, I was telling you. Secondly, they agreed to go on with you because you wanted to, but anyways, who cares, it's over, done, finito. There is nothing we/you can do to prevent it from occurring, it is not your fault at all, but just dont say it is funny.

Now back to the topic, (stay off the incident from yesterday) are the bins truly safe?

I dont get in Danhockey, In one sentance your saying that "they should have done something" and in another post you say"I know there not responsible for lost items"

Contradiction?

It seems like a contridiction, doesn't it, but it is not.

I know that they are not responsible for lost items, but after the incident occurring two or three times in one day on the same ride, they should do something

Ok, the bins suck. I only ever use them If I absolutley have to. If you don't have $5 then bring a fanny pack, pants with zipper pockets, or bring a backpack that you can take on the rides. I do that all the time.
Also SFGAm is not resposible for your things in the bin. Heck, it even says it right on the bin. If you put somthing in one of those bins then you do so at your own risk. I learned that lesson when I put my cell phone and a $5 bill in there cause I didn't want to lose it on Iron Wolf about 2 years ago, I came back and the 5 was gone.
What was I gonna do, report it to the ops and expect to get it back? Now putting open money in there is stupid and that I know(I still feel stupid for doing that. I still wonder how I could be that stupid. ) but I was using it as an example. So basicly, don't use them unless you absolutly have to.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/

I don't what to say. People hate because some rides don't have bins such as on SUF before, and now they are bad because people are stealing stuff. I guess that's one thing you have to deal with in this world. For all you people that put things in the bins, don't.

What have we learned for today? For next time, don't play the games untill afterwards, don't buy a souvenir cup, and don't leave a $5 in the bins. I won a TMNT turtle and I just took it on the ride before underneath my shirt. So, I looked a little overweight. If you do win something, and you have a car (In other words, besides taking the bus to the park.), put it in the car. Otherwise, don't bring big things into the park that you can't put in your pockets. Purses wouldn't be a good thing either.

At least you guys have bins. Right now at Geauga Lake you cannot have any loose articles or you cannot ride the major rides. It's really stupid. you aren't allowed to set anything on the opposite side of the platform either. Maybe they should do like PKI on some of their rides and have a sliding door the op moves so that only that train's stuff avaible when the train pulls in. If a person is responsible enough they can run over there fast and get it before a potential stealer can make off with it.

It's not the park's responsibility for lost or stolen items. Plus the rules also state that any items lost or stolen can not be retrieved during operation hours.

How much more sophiscated can you go with storage bins in a station?

I'm sorry people steal but, they do. Signs are posted claiming no responsiblity for lost or stolen items best bet leave them in a locker or the car. Sometimes people suck both the crooks and the Security that laughs at you. Wait until it happens to them they will be singing a different song.

All I can say is that you're a moron if you bring a purse or handbag to the park. You've got to carry it around all day and then people complain because they can't leave it on the station platform at Superman. It also takes Security a long time to check the 20 different pockets when you come into the park. (no offense to anyone that does)

About the bins, I think they need mini-pistons (like on your car trunk but smaller) so that they don't come smashing down. You know an accident will happen one of these days. Just my opinion.

Be an ACEr for a day wear a fanny pack.

On a side note I have never had a problem with strollers. On my last trip to HW,KK,HP,Lakemont, KW, GL, MI, and SFGAM. We would just abandon the thing and no one would touch it. Talk about leaving a high priced item sitting around. Then again unless the thief is pregnent it us useless. But with a desiginated stroller parking area and the park not allowing you to take it into a show area. If there is no sign claiming they are not responsible, are then then partly liable ?

HW has a decent system in place on the Legend. They actually have lockers on the opposite side of the loading platform with those keys that only come out of the lock when you close the door. You put your items in a locker, and take the key with you while you ride.

Return back to the station, insert key, retrieve items.

That would take too long with loading time at SFGAm, I doubt they would do that, but sounds like a good idea to me.

Have you been to HW? They have great capacity.

It takes no longer to use those lockers as opposed to the storage bins.

If they knew they would need it at the time they would have had CCI design Raven to run 2 trains .

Very true but when Raven was installed, the attendance level was nowhere near what it is now.

A transfer track and some computer tweaking can get a second train on Raven. Plenty of straight track before the station house.
