A look back over the past 10 years at SFGAm...

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Where is it then?
I'm not talking about park marketing they can call it whatever they want, I have not heard of a REAL Delerium model being built.

Thanks for clearing that up, wasn't sure if you meant a real Delerium was somewhere or if it was Kings Island's or Great America's.
Stupid parks stealing manufacturer names that arn't even what they are ;).

To The Beast:

Do you know why they don't build coasters anymore? I love Screamin' Eagle #1 at StL, Great American Scream Machine at SFOG, and even the Little Dipper at Kiddieland is not bad.

Although, a clone of Roar, or something along the lines of a dueling coaster like Gwazi would totally make my day!! :)

Viper's not bad, it's a so-so in my opinion. The other one is a waste of trees. Curious, why didn't Six Flags make another "Viper", or another coaster yet?

That's 16 frowns.

How can you waste trees? I'm sure they planted enough trees to make up for the Am. Eagle.

The reason for no clones...money, labor, and resources. I don't think that SF would want to invest in trying to make clones of Viper right now with their defecit problems. Then they would have to hire/pay a construction company to work for 4-6 months to construct it, and then to find the wood/laminate steel and parts to build it.

No wonder why Viper is one of the best in the chain. They only have two PTC coasters, StL and Georgia.

Well Am E is quite boring, weak, has bad drops except for the first three, has two bad helixes, and it doesn't improve going backwards. It's kind of like the park didn't have enough room to make it a big out and back coaster so they made it turn around in that stupid helix to make it a longer ride. I understand the coaster needs to turn back around but, you don't need all that wasteful track. The Little Dipper is more exciting.

Tell me another wooden coaster that runs backwards 24/7.

The first three hills on AE:B near the back of the train are an amazing experiance. And the entire ride of AE:R in the front row is even better.
Top 5 wood-5-Goliath 4-Ravine Flyer II 3-Phoenix 2-Voyage 1-El Toro
Top 5 Steel- 5-Velocicoaster 4- Maverick 3- Fury 325 2-Steel Vengeance 1-X2

Woodland: There are at least three other wooden coasters that always run at least one train backwards. they are: Thunder Road at Paramounts Carowinds, Racer at Paramounts Kings Island, and Rebel yell at Paramounts Kings Dominion.

Whatever happened to taller coasters such as the two Beasts at PKI, Mean Streak, and the Texas Giant? I've got to ride those in my lifetime.

The American Eagle was built in 1981, so I'd say 23 years.

Well it would be tough to get a coaster made by PTC considering they don't make coasters anymore. But i'm pretty sure both coasters use the ptc trains?

Mean Streak is horrid, the trims, the chest pain, the headaches. At least 50x worse than Shockwave ever was.

You could try. Anythings possible. PTC loves GAm, or you could always move one from another park. I'm just saying on the three woodies I've been on of PTC's: Refresh memory (Screamin' #1 Eagle, Great American Scream Machine, and Little Dipper) they are just awesome. I don't know how the other ones are, but these are greeeeeeeaaaaat.

Since some of you have been to PKI and PKD, how is Beastie (former Scooby Doo), and Scooby-Doo Ghoster's Coaster (former Scooby Doo one at PC) in two parks I believe? These are PTC coasters.

AE is a boring, waste of trees? Man, times have changed. I don't claim to be an expert on coasters, as GAm is pretty much the only park that I've ever experienced, but AE is one of the classic woodies of all time. Sure, it is a bit tame by today's standards. But let's not forget that the ride is 23 years old. If I am not mistaken, it was the highest, fastest coaster, or perhaps just wooden coaster, in the world at one time. Obivously, time has taken its toll as the ride seems less thrilling and much rougher than it used to be. However, the Eagle is a classic, and, for those who appreciate it for all that it once was, it's still awesome. I, for one, never want to see it go.
I'm gonna twist ya, and I'm gonna flip ya. Every time you squeal, I'm just gonna go faster and harder.

There were aloto f other woodies around when eagle was built, but it was the tallest and fastest, and it was considered a gem for its day.
