Why on earth would you want it well lit? Roaring Rapids location is the perfect place for a haunted walk through and having it well lit would just ruin it and take away most of the scare factor.
A bit off the topic of our Fright Fest, but SFNE is now the third park to transform their Tea Cups into Terror Twister (the second being SFA.)
Looks fun, but the tea cups not being enclosed kinda sucks, and it doesn't seem like the lights really go with the music. Ours is still the best, by far.

Terror Twister looks better at our park then there
Mulch was only laid over one spot at the beginning. It is where a gate rises up that moves rafts into a maintenance shed, instead of sending them through the ride trough.
This is the only spot mulch will be placed inside Wicked Woods. Putting it anywhere else will be too hard to clean up after Fright Fest.
Theres only mulch in the beginning? Uh...that totally takes away from the theming. I was expecting most if not all of the path that Roaring Rapids takes up to be covered. If I recall, aren't there like little slits and holes and such where the water normally is? I hope they covered those too, otherwise people are gonna be tripping and breaking ankles. If its too hard to clean up after Fright Fest, why not fill it with water and then drain it all out again. Im sure the water will get all the mulch out...unless its too much work to fill it up again.
I am also glad other parks are following our park's trend with TT2. Our's is the original though Im sure other parks will always wanna compete and make theirs better than ours.

I think they usually put Larry the Gorilla before Fright Fest even opens. He was there when I went opening day for Fright Fest back 2 years ago. Im sure if you drive past the park on the highway this week, you will probably see him. Alongside Tiny (RIP), Larry was the other sign that Fright Fest was on its way. Can 't wait to see him next weekend!!
The biggest problem with the knock-off Terror Twisters is that their buildings aren't as easily enclosed as Chubasco is. For example, SF New England's Tea Cups has a canvas roof, and during the day, light comes in through that, so even if they did a better job on the walls, they're still fighting a losing battle.
As for Larry, he should be going up sometime this week, Thursday at the latest. Last year, they were unable to get him up in time for the first weekend because the entire week was windy. It doesn't look like that will be an issue this year as today is the only day that is supposed to be windy.

All cracks and imperfections were fulled in with caulk and sand was laid over, so I was told

Although this sounds like a good idea, the water drains into a storm sewer and sending hundreds of thousands of pounds of wood-chips would not exactly make the village or any environmentally friendly person very happy. Also, mulch costs quite a lot even when you buy it in such large quantities.
^Thanks for the info! Straightforward and informative.
Only 4 more days until Fright Fest kicks off. 5 until I go to the park!! I think it would be awesome if they held some opening ceremony for the kickoff of Fright Fest!!

Not to start a whole off topic chain, but I heard this is the last year for Dream Reapers. Is this true? I wonder if its because of the money that got stolen last year?
I'll have a TR by tomorrow night from Preview Night (I'll keep the good stuff a secret however - no one wants spoilers, right? ). To all the skeptics, this is the year to check the park out - they have surpassed the quality and amount of not only attractions but overall scenery from previous years. I'll see you all at the park on Saturday

IzCoaster wrote:Preview Night? How do you get in to that?
You either have to be an employee or know an employee. Each employee can bring a limited number of friends (I think 3). The entire park and all of the haunts are open to walk through and a limited selection of Fright Fest rides are open (This year's preview night rides include Demon, Terror Twister 2, Valhalla Fyre, and La Maison D'Obscurite)

This is correct, as is everything DejaVu2001 ever says. Very informed member of this site. And no, I am not an employee - haven't worked at the park since 2000.

yes unfortunatley it is we open next friday October 5th. Also I was still wondering what happened to the giant blow up pumpkin that would be outside the park.
I think The year Brutal Planet '97 was the best one for me. It brought about several new props, characters, a new revamped MOT, Necropolis became more fun.
