I mean, how can you misquote someone saying a ride in canceled?
You're correct actually. The "quotes" from Salemi were very misleading because (as the paper stated in the correction) it made it sound like Salemi was there and speaking to the media, when he never actually did. That's a fact error, and is very, very bad journalism.

I agree 100% nobody in that article it seems confirmed or denied anything about Chang.
Ok, so they want us to believe that Chang was never planned completely for 2011? Even with the land plans, the SSA removal and pieces at the park to this day? You don't go to the board if you are not 100% sure you want the ride. It is just a process that takes a while and more than one appoval. So, that is BS.
^^It's not like they haven't planned it, but you can't put the cart before the horse. I mean, *if* (for whatever reason) a height variance was turned down (and it never has to date for GAm) then it really wouldn't matter how many drawings or proposed ideas there were.
If anything, it's the politically correct way a PR person would most likely present the information.
Well, I, for one would be ecstatic if they brought Greezed Lightnin back home to Great America where it belongs! I would probably fit in the Splashwater Falls old spot and since it is right by the car ride, they could keep the racing theme. I don't give a rip about what you "young 'uns" have to say, either.
onyxhotel08 wrote:Nobody wants GL. And I need to see a map of KK because that is weird. They have a road seperating the front of the park?
I always roll my eyes when I see anyone say "No one wants <insert something here>". Yeah thanks for speaking for the entire population because YOU don't want it. Yeah it would be cool to have GL here but no way in hell it would ever happen!

It's not that they want US to believe that Chang was never planned, they don't want the GP who wasn't paying attention to this whole situation to know.
Average everyday people read the paper; and when they hear that there WAS a coaster planned for next year, but it was canceled, they'll be sad or angry. SFGAm don't want it to look like the GP were ripped off. By saying it was just a rumor, people don't know that plans were canceled.
Free publicity thats it. So it will get people hyped up and buy season passes for next season. Whatever we get if we ever get any I hope it be good or one of the best addittion 2 the park in years.
I went to the park yesterday and checked to make sure the track was still there that is hidden behind Eagle's lift. It's still there.
And I have been waiting for some news actually confirming that the park president actually canceled plans. Looks like he has not yet. I also heard that Six Flags Online contacted SFGAdv and tried to confirm if Scream Machine was going to be closed starting July 1st to make room for a new ride. They commented back saying "As of right now, what you have been hearing is just a rumor. There has not been an official release of this information, and the Great American Scream Machine is still up and running for our guests to enjoy!" Its hard to say if it actually holds true because they never confirmed or denied the question asked.
Also I meant to post this a while ago but I never got to it. If you wanted a better shot of the Chang track here you go...

I also just thought about this today at work: If they really had any thoughts other then putting Chang at Six Flags would they have gone through the hassle of moving even any pieces of track and the trains or for that matter set up a town meeting? Seems like too much of a waste especially since our park has not had a major thrill ride since 2003 and with our park being the most profitable, they should reap the benefits of adding a new coaster to draw in more profits.
^Most likely Chang was coming, BUT on May 12th, we hear that Shapiro is gone and Al Weber is taking over. I forgot when the train with the one piece of track that they fit on the same truck most likely came to the park, but it probably came before May 12th. And why in the last meeting when they were present did SFGAm announce anything? It's probably because they were still going with Shapiro's ideas, but maybe this new guy actually questioned the reasonability of why in the world are we putting a stand-up coaster in a park that already has one? And from May 12th, this guy has to get acquainted with everything about the company, and the parks. Maybe, he even went to each park to see how each park is running.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Are we 100% sure that this is a part of Chang's track? Could it part of something else. Can anyone confirm, hopefully with zoom shots, of what is being stored in the northeast end of the employee lot? I can see it from Iron Wolf's hill but can't make out what it is. It seems to be blue and yellow, though. If it is a track section from Chang, why would they keep the track part just laying out in the open and not in one of the storage facilities or at least near to where the trains are being stored.
^ The park doesn't have endless space to store a 4000+ ft. B&M coaster. haha! But, There are only a few pieces visible, so, I don't think that much else is in storage besides maybe the station.
true, but I think we also suggested a while back that the rest of the track is still in KY in the crane yard. I just wondered why the one piece is just sitting out and any closeup shots of what is in the employee lot.
Also, I guess some folks from the gadv.com forum are holding a goodbye marathon for the GASM tomorrow. Still no official word from SF as of yet.
Well it is very unfortunate that we had very little time to plan this....but as a coaster with such historical meaning as Great American scream machine it deserves a proper goodbye. And we as gadv online are the ones that need to step up and throw this together! So I am sorry for the last minute arrangements but with gasms time coming oh so close we had no choice and this is it folks. Come out tomorow to the park 6/29 and join me jj2k and ride the one time tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world; in fact the very last looper to ever hold that title; in a one hour straight marathon from 2p - 3p. Your heads will be sore you should probably bring some Tylenol but in the end it's what needs to be done. And just to spice some things up a trivia contest will follow the one hour marathon in which the winner will win two walt Disney world park hopper tickets! So come on out and join us as we say good ye to one of the most iconic coasters in great adventure history: great American scream machine! You don't wanna miss it!

The only thing that's essentially bad for them in the fact that they're heads are going to have dents in them by the time its over.
Honestly, think about how long you are actually exposed to experiencing G-Forces during the ride cycle. You have the lift, the MCBR, and the return trip into the station where there are no intense levels of G-Forces. Astronauts used to experience amounts of G-Forces constantly for minutes on end during the Apollo/Saturn missions. The entire crew of Apollo 11 is still alive and kickin'! A total of around 45 seconds of safe G-Forces during the total ride time is not going to effect a lot of people.
I used to sit on Shockwave for 20+ rides all the time, which is a more intense ride then GASM, as GASM has a trim right before the double loop which is most intense part. They will be fine.
