Iknow this is about politics but I am very curios. Will Six Flags get any money from the 700 billion dollar bail out? Six Flags is a company that needs money and I want to know if they will get some out of this.
How about we think about how much Six Flags * up, and realize they can't do anything about it. They added TONS of huge roller coasters to the chain, and probably spent over 100 million on new coasters with money THEY DON'T HAVE. They SHOULDN'T have built HH, any of the kids worlds, or added more than 5 roller coasters to the chain in the past 5 years.
It's funny, because there are theme parks out there that are so good, that they have like 5 roller coasters, and haven't built new ones in years, but the park is so good, people come back. Six Flags dug themselves into a hole where they NEED to build new roller coasters ALL the time, because they don't have anything else to do in the park.
Grezzed Lightnin is seriously being dismantled and sent to Geauga Lake was we speak. You guys are so oblivious to the obvious, it's terrible.
Two-Face also isn't being sold, it's they're just testing it with GIB trains (SFGAm's old ones to be exact, they took SFOG's instead of ours, which is why they can't sell it) because they think it will make the ride run better. They just wanted to double check that the old trains do work so they could sell them on Craig's List.
We also DO need a moto-coaster in BTR's HUGE queue space! We could MAYBE even fit a station there! HOW THRILLING! We could call it Nolan's Lighthouse. Because it goes with the Yankee Harbor theme.
Then we can get a a TTD clone, and use skytrek as the support tower. WOW WOULDNT THAT BE AWESOME?!
Then to satisfy some of the members here craving for launch rides AND a ski-lift style ride... We'll make, KINGDA CHAIR! KING OF CHAIRS! 0-5 IN 9 SECONDSSSS!!! Marketing wont have a problem getting that one out there! It can also be the worlds fastest ski-lift, the worlds tallest, the worlds longest, AND THE ONLY ONE DESIGNED BY A SFGAMWORLD MEMBER!
We can also take a ride like revoultion, MAGICALLY flip the seats outword, make a retractable floor, and COMPLETELY redo the way the ride runs without a SINGLE PROBLEM! Those guys at HUSS (pronounced "huh"-ss) are sure bright!
That was by far the best post I've EVER made. [/sarcasm]
That was one of the funniest posts I've seen. It's hilarious that only a select few really appreciate that post, and everyone else doesn't seem to understand sarcasm.
i understood the sarcasm but since my life was taken over by The Wedding Singer i was not "in the loop" on things such as if TW was actually being taken down, but I have my life back now since the show is over so you will be seeing more of me.
"The rides are GREAT, The shows are GREAT, the fun is GREAT. At Marriott"s GREAT AMERICA!"
^No, the people who are writing unnecessary paragraphs making fun of everyone. People are putting in their ideas, and then everyone is just like 0MG not gunna happen, blah blah blah. It's just lame. Forums have turned into a great madness of mad people, and no one is allowed to state their own opinion anymore.
Make our park a place where you can go a have a great and fun filled day. Make the park a place to go and escape from the world and forget about your problems. A place where you can ride rides, eat great unique food, enjoy unique and relaxing music, look at all the great scenery and landscaping, see some one of a kind shows, and enjoy the night time. We had most of this in 07 even with all the changes....I dont see what happened from this year to last.
Now, this has nothing to do with the ride removals. But in 07, the park looked great and was a fun place to go. And this year it is not the same. I can not pinpoint exact what changed but its not the same.
Right because what we need is a 13 year old lecturing us about SF's business operation every other post and that they shouldnt have built one of the most succesful waterparks ever and instead should get S&S Slingshots.
Haha, you're so funny. I still don't believe they even paid for HH. Or they might have just finished payments. And I never directly stated they shouldn't have put in the water park for a slingshot. I am just supporting my point that there aren't enough things to do besides ride roller coasters in the park, and Six Flags, Inc. has become so dependent on roller coasters, that is has taken so much money from them.
/\ Regardless, you did say in one post THEY SHOULDNT OF BUILT HH TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY etc then in another post said WE NEED A SLINGSHOT.
Hurricane Harbor was probably the best investment to ever be made at SFGAm, just look at its draw power. Nobody would go to SFGAm just to for the S&S slingshot, however people (thousands a day) do go to SFGAm just to go to HH. I personally have never even gone there in swim trunks to enjoy it and dont plan to, but im not blind and can see that during the summer its always crowded. In 2005 alone all summer the rides never even had lines because almost everyone was in the waterpark or trying to ge t in. Not only does it sell season passes: people are on property longer, if people are in the waterpark most are not going to have their entire family change to go across the street to Burger King for lunch then go back and change again, they are going to buy lunch at the Pink Flamingo. HH was a win-win for SFGAm.
Adding large scale flat rides wouldnt "make the park more well rounded" in my opinion. SFGAm has a lot of thrill rides and solid flats. The Glow in the Park Parade, for example, would be an oustanding and marketable addition. Its proven popular at other parks, and families dont have to wait in long lines next to teenagers like they do with TDK .

Show me a large-scale ride that has been paid off after one season. Exactly.
You're saying that Six Flags is bad for getting all of these rides, and not paying them off the second they get them.
PEOPLE DO THAT EVERYDAY! It's called a credit card.
Like SFGAm07 said, HH was one of, if not the BEST investment the park has ever made. In 2005 the lines for almost every water slide were longer than Raging Bull's and Deja Vu's COMBINED. I know it's not nearly that extreme now, but it still makes the lines bearable on normal summer days.
If you went at all during the summer, you should be grateful for that water park, or else your wait times probably would have been doubled.
Also, something like a water-park holds its appeal. You can't market a roller-coaster for much longer than its opening season. You can market a water park as long as you want, and it's twice as easy when there's a theme park next door.
I mean don't get me wrong, some of you do have some really good ideas... ...if we were playing Roller Coaster Tycoon.
Hurricane Harbor was a wise investment and nobody can say otherwise. You have roller coasters and water attractions in one park. Stuff for the kids, teens, adults and people who wanna cool down and slide down Barracuda.
Hurricane Harbor was a good idea, even though I think they could have done a better job with it. The idea of having a good waterpark in gurnee is a great idea, but having it connected to the park was stupid. I really think they should have taken better advantage of the land across the highway that they used to have. Most people that go to Six Flags for the day chose either amusement or waterpark. The average person goes to SFGAM once or twice a year. They could have built across the highway and people would have made a two day visit out of it instead of one day, because they wouldn't want to bother with drying off and driving across the highway. They could have still redone the parking lot and left the current HH lot as dirt until they decided to add something new.
I understand the whole "family view" that most people go with when talking about amusement parks (especially SF parks). I disagree with it though. It's good to mix things up a little bit and not just build thril rides. At the same time it's good to mix things up and not just build family rides. The park needs to figure out the equilibrium point on this. Attracting just families will bring in more money these next few years, but after awhile they're going to not be able to bring in many more families and will start to lose teans/ people without kids. I know that most of my friends don't want to go to SFGAM as much, that includes me. It gets boring after awhile. There's nothing new worth waiting for. When there's a new ride teens will go for several years after that ride is built and sill be willing to wait in a full queue for it. That doesn't happen after 5 years though.
The best thing for SFGAM would be something big and thrilling, but something that eats up people at the same time and doesn't have a huge line. Intamin does a great job with their designs, but six flags probably wouldn't fork out the money for one of their coasters. A hydra type ride would be great in SWF area. As much as SF doesn't like to admit it, people come to the parks for coasters, not mini golf or a water shooter ride.
