The locals are the ONLY people who should be allowed to attend. Why would a town's residents be banned from attending their own town's meetings? What kind of government are YOU running?
I'm perfectly fine with people complaining about other people complaining (though it is pretty ironic, isn't it?), but your statement just doesn't make any sense.
^ I agree. The posts above yours is ridiculous in nature along with the one above it.
As much as I love thrill rides, I'm not sure I would want to live next door to a large amusement park like Great America although I suspect my kids would disagree with me.

An intelligent resident may even have a valid complaint about the park and its plans, and it would be his or her right to complain to the board about it and give their side of the issue. This is what living in a democracy is all about.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
Honestly, the only people who have a right to complain are the people who lived in the area BEFORE Six Flags was built. Anytime after, just stop. You made the decision to live by Six Flags, no one else did. It is the same way I feel when I hear Wrigleyville Residents complaing about Wrigley Field noise, etc. You chose to live in that area, you knew exactly what you were getting into when you moved in. Deal with it, and move along.
But you can look at it this way, if they purchased there house when the park was in the off season then they would not know how loud the park can be when its open. And then they have ever right to speak there mind about it.
There are plenty of other ways in which people have little choice where to move. What if a job required the family to move to Gurnee and they could only afford a home near the park?

You still don't Have to live in Gurnee. It's not like Gurnee is in the middle of nowhere and the nearest town is in hour away. It wouldn't kill someone if they had to drive 10-15 mins to work.
Has anyone seen or heard of any further construction? The last I heard was the initial clearing of the land, but when can we expect to see footers being poured?
People keep asking questions that nobody here is going to possibly know the answer to (except for the lurking Six Flags employees, who won't answer). Just be patient, there will be a link to the webcam posted when Six Flags decides to post one, and they'll start doing footers at some point in the next few months. I'm sure whenever they do, many many people on this thread will be talking about it, nobody is going to miss anything.
I am confused. Based on this pic, going by the stairway up to the station house, it appears the railroad tracks have been removed. Am I looking at this wrong? (I probably am)
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
