That Was at KK, now its at Sfgam.
Likes it mater?
The park used to make about 1.3 million visitors before it was a Six Flags park. Chang's lines used to be fat! It was rumored back then that there was always a thrid Train in the storged or whatever on the side of chang on the transfer track, but their wasn't.
It takes atleast 2-3 mins to get everyone on Chang suited for the ride. First you gotta get the guess to exit the ride and then open the gates for the on coming riders. Later you will need to help the guess sit in the seats and then lock the seats so the guess can stand up stright. So many guess try to sit down so the operators have to un lock the locks and re lock them again so the guess are standing up, And then the ride is only 1 and a half to 2 mins long, so their was not enough time for a 3rd train.
So even before it was Six Flags, "when the park was under better managment and had more guess", the ride could not operate with 3 trains.
^Likes it was a joke. Chang can run 3 trains, and It was originally planned to, but KK only bought two trains. Just look at the transfer shed 3 slots. And saying its not long enough is a bunch of BS. Take a look below.
From RCDB Mantis: Length: 3900' Height: 145' Drop: 137' Inversions: 4 Speed: 60 mph Duration: 2:40 Max Vertical Angle: 52 Degrees Elements: 119' tall Loop 103' tall Dive Loop 83' tall Inclined Loop Corkscrew Trains: 3 trains with 8 cars per train. Riders are arranged 4 across in a single row for a total of 32 riders per train.
Chang: Length: 4155' Height: 154' Drop: 144' Inversions: 5 Speed: 63 mph Duration: 2:30 Max Vertical Angle: 45 Degrees Elements: 121' 7" tall Loop 103' 10" tall Dive Loop 72' tall Inclined Loop Corkscrew Corkscrew 7 cars per train. Riders are arranged 4 across in a single row for a total of 28 riders per train.
As you can see Chang is longer and has shorter trains and yet mantis can run 3 trains when it has longer trains and a shorter length.
Ok I'm sorry, My mobile texts can be pretty bad but please as one told me, use spell check or read your posts before posting them....that was kind of irritating to read sccard01, I apologize for comin off rude........
yes it most likely is possible to run 3trains, Mantis started with 3 back in the 90s.
Chang CAN operate three trains, and easily at that. The ride has a brake run that can accommodate all three trains at once! Chang also has Block Brakes, so don't you dare say that it can't run three trains because it never has. Because it can, and I'm confident it will.

Chang might be able to run three trains without stacking, but I highly doubt Six Flags would spend extra money just for a third train when it was running fine with two at Kentucky Kingdom.

Well, Chang only was purchased with 2 trains so it has never run 3 (and rarely ran 2).... so I'm sure that GAm is only going to use 2 as well

This. It's not like other coasters that have quick load times, B&M stand-ups suck even with the best crews as they can not prevent people from not getting how to ride.
Yes but IW is a completely different layout obviously & as you said, it has a block brake. I said it most likely CAN run three due to the status of Mantis in the beginning.
Does Mantis run three normally? Because if it does Chang can no doubt run three. Although I don't think we will even have that option because the park probably won't buy another, unless they were to do a SFGAdv bizzaro makeover thing with the cars.

Just because it CAN, doesn't mean it SHOULD.
The only rides in great America that should be running three is Bull/Whizzer. But Whizzer can sometimes be bad....depends on who's there. Bull can easily run three trains efficiently. For Example Demon can, but probably shouldn't.....especially with the way the have the Flash Pass set up.
"I've been told that some part of every wish will be heard but lately I lost sight of the truth in those words."
No Mantis HAS NOT ran three for years just sayin it did, but I agree, it shouldn't. Especially if it is ran like Mantis...STAND UP, LEGS ALL THE BACK, STAND UP STRAIGHT, STAND UPPP!!!!
haha..ugh oh my....Havin to go talk to guests stuck at MAIN transfer or safetys is not good on Mantis....soooo many complaints, more than any other coaster I worked. So I'm gonna say, yes it has to do with standing.
I would be fine with a 2 train operation on Chang, but I wouldn't want it having only 1 train in the course at a time. I say send a train as soon it hits the middle block on Chang. Iron Wolf from a video is about 1 minute, and 30, and someone said the duration of Chang is 2 minutes and 30. For Whizzer, they do the same thing with 2 trains. They wait when the train comes completely back for sending another one. For Viper, they do something different. They send it when it goes down the one part.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Any coaster running 3 trains makes me happy. I don't remember 3 trains running on Mantis, and with the loading times I find it hard to imagine a 3 train operation without at least one or both trains waiting at the end of the ride.
