I have always thought that the space over Rapids and the flume area was a totally open space for a new steel hyper-coaster. Plenty of area to place supports and have a coaster overhead. We always see other parks do this, why not SFGAM.
If six flags wanted to expand I could see them buying the Darlene dr and Darlene ct roads and house lots as well as buy the south road park arena and then in the area behind roaring rapids they could put a walkway over there. With all of that space they could put in another themed area and if they don't have enough space for that then they could clear the woods right along hwy 21 and make it a massive themed area with potentially 2 coaster lots and finally another walkway through the employee parking lot given that they'd remove that
I know this sounds insanely complicated but if we needed more space that would defiently work
^Nooooooooooooo!! There are other spaces where they don't have to remove rides or the space that Ragin Cajun is leaving.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
You would've thought that Marriott would've bought the entire block Great America resides on. Wasn't the park there before everything else on that block?
EDIT: Does anyone think that they could convert the Picnic Grove into a new themed area, but expand it towards the admin buildings more?

Why would you say that?!! I love those two rides!!!! They deserve to stay!!!!

^ But the Ragin' Cajun spot can be expanded on both sides. They can move the queue to add space and they could cut into the Picnic Grove pathway. It would be way easier to build a Sky Screamer there than in HTFM's or TP's spot.
I've said it & I've seen it mentioned, if we get a skyscreamer with the "skyscreamer" name attached I really pray the park is smart enough to paint it red/white/blue & name it "the Great American Skyscreamer"! So putting one in RC sad demise of a location will irritate me.
Texas Skyscreamer is gorgeous, hope they see the american theme obviously would fit us as well! ;D
Does anyone else remember when you weren't able to walk across the bridge from HTS to County Fair? The park layout was basically just a giant circle then. The new coaster will be good at keeping people in the back of the park, for a longer period of time (more time/money).
In all honesty, I wouldn't mind seeing another small Hurrican Harbor addition. Just like a single tower complex with a few slides.
Also if you look at the Roaring Rapids layout, and the amount of space the ride takes up, you could easily build a massive coaster over the spot (while keeping the ride in tact).

If they don't get Orbit up soon, they'd probably replace it with a Skyscreamer, since the name and color may go good with that area.
I can really only see 3 locations that make sense for a skyscreamer: County Fair, Hometown Square, and Carousel Plaza.
I know I'll get haters on this one, but I wouldn't mind them replacing Revolution with a "Great American Skyscreamer". All they'd have to do is get rid of the stairs, redo the exit, and it's all good. They already have the queue (which is plenty)
If Rajun Cajun is leaving wouldn't there be a sign earlier saying something how you should get your last ride on it? They did that with Iron Wolf even before the announcements happened. What if Six Flags America just got a similar ride but a new one? Just a thought.
^ Iron Wolf's closure was announced on August 5th when the ride closed on September 5th. Ragin' Cajun, being a portable ride, and much smaller, will operate for the rest of the season. So there's no reason to announce it this early.
Also, they don't need to announce anything. Splashwater Falls, Deja Vu, Space Shuttle America, and Great America Raceway never had any advance notice given.

My favorite park (and home park) is King's Island, and I have always been in love with the rides, atmosphere...just everything about that place. And, I feel the same way when I'm at GAm. You don't get that feeling when you're at parks like Cedar Point or places that are pretty much just concrete and steel. Everything just feels perfect at the park and I hate thinking that one day those rides are going to be gone, and replaced with something else. As I talked about earlier with James, I worry about Whizzer and Demon a lot when they start making plans for something new. Both, Arrow and Schwarzkopf are dying breeds; so the upkeep for these rides is insane. I know one day they will have no choice but to tear them down, but that's something that just has to happen. Those two rides help put us on the map at one time, but more things have came along and done the same thing....Ragin Cajun wasn't one of those things. Sure it's a good ride, but it's a carnival ride. I personally feel that GAm is making a good decision by getting rid of it and putting it at SFA. That park is slowly starting to get back on its feet, because before Wolf was moved there, it didn't have much going for it. Whatever goes in place of Cajun, we'll still end up enjoying it as much; if not more than Cajun!
I rambled...it's 6am! Whatever.
I feel the same way you do, and I actually used to dislike Six Flags parks as well, but to say that Cedar Point is just concrete and steel is absurd! I grew up going to GAm and CP (instead of KI) and I feel like no place on earth is more beautiful, perfect or has more atmosphere than Cedar Point.

Rajin Cajun is a much smaller ride and is easier to transport and reassemble so they could always announce that last rides are during fright fest where as iron wold being a much bigger coaster took all of the time to take apart, reprint, and rebuild in sfa
