Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

If you don't like it. Don't ride it. Simple as that. No need to go around complaining.

^That seems to be the problem, no one is ridding it.

Really? Huh. That must be why it had a 30 minute wait yesterday.

The ride has riders. Devout ones like myself. And it has haters. Like onyx. If you like it great, let's ride! If you don't, stop the hate. Simple as that. Iron wolf is 20 years old. What do you expect. It runs non B&M trains. Demon is rougher, and isn't going anywhere.

You where at the park yesterday David, everything had at least a 30 minute wait. You know as well as everyone else, the writing is on the wall for IW.

With GASM getting taken down I would think that demons life will now be extended due to the sudden abundance of extra parts. That being said Wolf is probably the next to go. However, that probably wont be for a few years seeing as it still does draw people on a daily basis. Why take out a ride that people are still riding. As long as the ride remains safe to run and easy to maintain I don't see them removing it for a few years.

Here's the difference though. Iron Wolf is from B&M a company still alive and kicking. Demon is from Arrow. A company long gone, the only thing left is spare parts, from a company that did not originally manufacture said parts.

I'm sure some company manufactures parts still, there's so many arrow coasters still out there, who would miss out on the opportunity?

Wasn't the whole reason S&S bought Arrow was the fact they had a huge spare parts division?

Parts for demon isn't the problem....parts for arrow coasters are easy to come by. What makes demon rough in it's toughest part is the entrance to the corkscrew....for some reason, arrow thinks it's a good idea to have the turn bank in before the corkscrew, if that wasn't banked, it would be smooth like butter.

Yeah, only reason S&S bought arrow was for the spare parts division, also Vekoma and Arrow have probably about 75% commonality, and mechanically it's near 100% so Vekoma parts can be used. Also Intamin has been known to make spare parts for Arrow rides. Spare parts for Arrow rides is a pretty huge commodity.

Problem with arrow rides is a lot of them are reaching the end of their life spans, where it gets to the point where they cost more money to maintain than they are worth, especially since metal can only be welded back together so many times before it gets extremely brittle. Really only the likes of Disney is willing to put up with those costs in the case of Matterhorn.

On top of that, I thought early Vekomas even used Arrow trains.

Definitely looks like it. Some of the early Boomerangs look identical.

For Iron Wolf to be busy it needs to be a packed crowd at the park. Otherwise, 10-15 minutes and you ride AT MOST. I fyou asked anyone at the park (general public), which ride they would least likely miss if taken out (not to mention fuss over) itwould be Iron Wolf. Dark Knight still draws families in despite a massive decrease from 2008. Demon is still popular. Whizzer is epic to this day. For everyone. Wolf is just...expiring.

They won't take Demon or Whizzer out for at least a couple years. They are the original rides and probably have the largest fan base even though the lines may reflect that (also have you heard Demon's theme song it's epic). Plus, you saw what happened with the Whizzer epidemic, and also as you guys have stated several times, there are a lot of spare parts. Iron Wolf just doesn't seem like they would let it go. It has some historic value and it's also really small. Unless they got a daemon-esque ride in there your looking at another kiddie land or kid coaster. I think you guys should try and support Iron Wolf because if it goes you aren't getting a new grand looping giant mega super coaster, your getting a mister six dance coaster.
"Park staff later claimed that they were offered a hundred bucks a pop to try to the slide, but refused after seeing that test dummies often emerged on the other end dismembered. The looping slide was actually closed down for most of the park’s life due to these injury concerns."

If we were to get Mr. Six's Dance Coaster, that would be the stupidest idea ever. We have the identical coaster at our park.

Early Boomerangs, well even up into the mid-late 80's did in fact use Arrow trains, ditto for pretty much all of the Vekoma Corkscrew coasters.

This topic has become identical to Chang Watch. Is there really a need for it? Both topics are discussing future additions anyway.

That's pretty interesting! They didn't make their own Corkscrew style trains then?

I didn't know there was a cause that needed help. No trolling allowed david, just keep your opinions to yourself. We're here to discuss SFGAm, not judge each others posts.

Just saying, this topic should be closed while the discussion moves over to Chang Watch.

you sure? Because in Chang Watch, everyone has seemed to have shifted to discussing "What are we getting?" and not Chang specifically because Chang has been supposedly cancelled. And you're doing the same thing here.

This is talking about the future of Iron Wolf, and what would probably replace the inevitably doomed Iron Wolf.

Couldn't a ride like Batman at Six Flags New England fit into that spot? I have never riden it, but it looks like(size wise) about the same size as Iron Wolf, give or take.
The Mr. Six at the park is REALLY creepy

I'm ready for a Ragin' Cajun good time

Chang Watch has already discussed the removal of Iron Wolf and the "What if...?" affiliation.

Again david, you're not reading, just trolling.

^Probably. But with the price of steel up, and the original plans for us changed, its not happening.
Top 5: 1) El Toro. 2) Maverick. 3) Millenium Force. 4) Diamondback. 5) X2.
