^ I wouldn't be surprised if the park was waiting on some part(s) for Orbit. When's the last time it's had an extensive rehab where it was totally stripped down?
^HA! Well...then my guess would be that some part just malfunctioned after they reassembled (similar to Crawler's motor that counter-rotated the ride). However, whatever it must be was something that affected the entire operation of the ride.
And if it's a special part...it's not like it's sitting on a warehouse shelf just waiting for use. I also wonder if days are numbered since there have been other SF parks that have scrapped their enterprise rides...not sure if they were similar models though.
I did a bit of thinking while on my marathon ride of the zippin pippin today.... I have come to the conclusion that this ride must have something up its sleve. I simply do not see how a 165 foot tall coaster can burn off this much energy in that small of a track. This is mind blowing stuff. Viper is only 100 ft tall and has 50mph speed and almost 3500 ft of track. Zippin pippin is 70ft tall 40mph and under 3000 ft of track. American eagle has 4650 ft of track 127ft height... yes eagles max speed is from 147ft drop but still. Eagle and viper and even pippin all have decent speed at the brakes. Raging bull is similar speed to what we are talking about and runs through 5000ft plus of track with some pretty heavy trims. This new ride has way way way too much energy to not have some pretty epic tricks up its sleeve. My guess would be only 4000ft track and that means a ton of energy for cool stuff. Not sure what to make of this revelation.
^As many others have already said, including myself, take a look at Outlaw Run. 162ft drop, 68mph, and only 2,937 ft of track. I remember when that was announced, I was thinking man, that is real short! Then, I went down and rode it a crazy amount of times. Every second of that ride is awesome. You really don't hear anyone complaining about the length because it doesn't waste one foot of the track it has. It's kind of like, say, the BTR of wood coasters. Fast, intense, and short. I'd rather a ride be short like that, than be long and drawn out. If this is in fact an RMC like it is looking like it is, just look at the 3 coasters they have done. All of them are getting rave reviews. I have no doubt the same will be happening here next year if it is one of those.

I did think about that at one point in time - that other Enterprises are or have been taken out, but the thing with SFGAm is that the park has the most flats in the chain unless maybe Mexico. And the Orbit does have walk-on lines on some days, but usually a lot of the cars get filled. In my opinion, the park does have space for new flats without taking any out if they want to put them in Trailblazer spot, soon maybe Ragin Cajun, and than even next to Sky Trek Tower, there is a bunch of room they could easily put something. You take a park like Georgia in which they got rid of the Wheelie (an Enterprise), and that park isn't the biggest park. They wanted to put a Skyscreamer in, and they had to take out something. Personally, I think they messed up that park when they didn't take out Ninja, and didn't put in Dare Devil Dive in that location instead. Could have put the Skyscreamer where Dare Devil is. Too late now..
And the Wheelie is still operating. It's just in Florida now.. It's not like it wasn't working.

^ Sky Screamer was put in Wheelies spot because SFOG has a 200 foot height limit. Wheelie is at a low point in the park, so putting Sky Screamer in it's spot let them build the 240 foot version. Even if they replaced Ninja with DDD, Sky Screamer would still have replaced Wheelie.

Easily - it doesn't. Look at Full Throttle, it drops 160 feet into the brake run. Six Flags has no problem cutting rides short to save money. I'm sure this will still be an awesome ride, but just from looking at the height chart we can see that this ride will end with speed still left to kill.
You can get rid of energy through maneuvers or brakes. A big investment in a new ride like this is going to go big...it will not be brakes that take out most of the energy!
Forgive this post, forgive me for Im gonna sound 14 all over again...
This could be another 2001... well, ok hopefully not truly (seein the issues that were goin on) but what if its another two coasters, one season? We have approval for one but theres no need for one thats up to 124ft... Im only thinkin this cause I had a dream about a zacspin at the park. No idea why buttttt it happened...
Do we need one? Hell no. We need capacity coasters. Do they look cool? Yes. Was it cool in my dream? Yes, wicked. LOL Ok Im walkin away no, no one assassinate me, thank you. ;D
I really hope the new roller coaster is like Outlaw Run, because that's my most favoriteist wooden roller coaster ever! Here's me on Outlaw Run! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg_VN9nV3vE

Removing the original audio is probably the smartest thing anyone could ever do to a roller coaster video.

Concerning a skyscreamer, if SFGAm puts one in, it'll probably go in a very patriotic part of the park so they could call it the "Great American Skyscreamer" and paint it red, white, and blue. So who knows? Maybe they could put together some land in Carousel Plaza to fit it, or possibly Hometown Square. I just don't see a Skyscreamer in Ragin Cajun's location, just because they could still fit a smaller coaster in there. They can still fit a flat in the Trailblazer location, a small coaster in the SWAmp location. BUT, they can always build a platform on the lake in Yukon and build it on that manmade lake. Just thinking out loud!

I signed up in case I'm able to go but I wish they would give you the instructions sooner than Wednesday night. It also depends on gas money if I'll make the trip or not. If the rides were open I would definitely go but I just don't have $40 in gas money to spend making a trip to Gurnee for an announcement that someone will probably have a live stream of or tweets.
