CHANG WATCH: The Official Topic

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I am pretty sure he meant that he could see the track piece while riding Eagle.

Nothing to speculate on guys. The pic Brian posted is of Chang track at SFGAm. The maintenance shed in the backround gave it away.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

So last year we saw a staircase & support pole unloaded at the park. Now we spot track. SSA area is blocked off. Next few months should be fun.

Screamscape posted pics from sfgamzone last night that showed the piece from what looks like the lifthill of a coaster, just for further confirmation.

It's visible from Eagle's lift, but the pics were actually taken on the exit bridge.

Guys, don't start celebrating. A staircase, possible support, and minimal track have been spotted at the park. Most of the coaster is still in fact in Kentucky, and at this point Six Flags could ship it to Mexico or somewhere. WE will only know as soon as the announcement.

Agreed, I'm waiting on that zoning board.

Your "friends" in management aren't supposed to tell you anything due to confidentiality....like any other major company. Even if he does tell you, he should have also told you not to post it on forums, etc. Because it starts bogus rumors like this one. END RANT.

It maks the most sense. You get the former Splash Water Falls area in use again by having the Go-Karts there where it is much easier to find them & you have a great big new attraction at the front of the park. Most of the ride being in Kentucky probably has to do with the fact we don't have tons of room and they don't want everyone to see the ride on the sidelines and have everyone in the park asking questions.

I was implying that rumors are bogus without evidence. Remember how this topic started? Oh yeah, a rumor on screamscape with no evidence to back it up.

My personal thought on that is this. SFGAm does have the space to store it (look back to when they had Shockwave on the hill, or SUF in the employee lot). I think the reason the crane company has the ride is so that it is stored by a "neutral" 3rd party. Its not being stored at any SF Park (minus the parts SFGAm already has), and its not being stored at SFKK (owned by the Kentucky State Fair Board). This way, there is no fear of one party or the other moving the ride to another location before the outcome of this "lease debate" is over.

Ok..I used "debate" as I'm not sure what to really call this between SF and the Kentucky State Fair Board.

I have no idea what the paperwork says as far as who owns what at the SFKK site. Once everything with this "lease debate" is over and resolved, then the crane company will either give the parts of Chang back to SF, or turn it over to the Kentucky State Fair. Until then, it will probably sit at the crane company.

You know why there was no evidence? If there was, someone would be fired. The rumor could have come from people involved with the project, who told a friend, and they leaked it on to the internet.

Pretty sure the park still does not want the general public who don't read these sites to find out about Chang before this season even got going. Still does not make ANY sense why a few important pieces are at Six Flags and other in Kentucky. Just checking that was Chang in the crane lot? We know the park has already put up signs for the 2011 attraction in SSA area. We know no park has a Thomas Town AND Wiggles World. If Chang was not coming here I really think all these extra parts of it would not have showed up here. They would have been kept altogether in Kentucky.

I think it is not about Chang but overall about Six Flags and Kentucky parting ways officially. Doesn't their lease end this month? Plus why pay to bring Chang here when they don't have permits for it and it does not open till 2011? We have: Train (s), staircase, support and track. I don't buy it will go back to SFKK. They are worried about getting an operator set for next season as they are losing tons of $$ by not opening this season. They probably don't care about a 12 year old coaster now. More important things to think about.

^That 12 year old coaster was the only thing to draft people to the draft part of the park.

I do agree with you that it is weird they moved part of the ride before knowing if they could build it. Then again, that didn't stop them before with one of The Dark Knights.

Six Flags will either A) Pay a relatively small fine OR B) Built some sort of water park they intended to

Kentucky has bigger concerns than Chang...Even though they had 3-4 offers recently, until they ended their dead with Six Flags this month they could not do any major discussions. U never know if any of those companies wants to resurrect the park in the end. They have one section of the park closed for what 2 years now? They can't afford to wait forever. They can't open the park without anything to replace Chang and one area of the park SBNO. Did Six Flags just not want to run it or was it not possible to run without a lot of $$
