I had a dream the other night that my mom and I were taking Vu apart and were going to steal all the parts...but we took the whole coaster apart in ONE evening! I have actually had 4 dreams about Vu. The latest one, which I just had a few hours ago while I was taking a nap, was that I watched them take Vu down and they offered to sell Vu to me...
I think I'm gonna end up with this coaster no matter the circumstances!
Remember back when I said "the top priorities for the park should be the SWF/SSA area" ?
A reader contacted to park to check on the status of the missing attractions on the website (Castaway Creek was also found to be missing). Guest Services informed them that Triple Play and Castaway Creek would be back in 2008, but confirmed that Splashwater Falls, Déjà Vu and Space Shuttle America would not be returning.
Yay they listened, I feel like Ron Wolf.
But in all seriosness this is a great move for the park: adding an indoor coaster which they really needed and revamping some more dead areas of the park. The park really has exploded over the past few years:
2004: South half of Orleans Place revamped into Mardi Gras
2005: Hurricane Harbor replaces chunk of parking lot
2006: Tornado added to HH
2007: Wiggles World replaces queue house
2008 / 2009: Indoor Batman movie themed coaster / revamp of County Fair & Carousel Plaza
Good to hear about your coaster Dream DvuRulz. The only GAm dream that I remember is when I'm about to go down the big drop on Logger's Run, I climb out of the log and run and then slide down the 60ft drop.
To clear up the rumors (Or possibly keep them going) Screamscape said this:
Deja Vu : REMOVED (Sorry, at Least Magic Mountain's is up)
Splashwater Falls : REMOVED (That Rumored Dive Machine better be good and not a simple Oblivion clone but somthing exciting with a cool layout and floorless seats, because that's what I'm worried that it won't be cool. Instead be like Superman with an unexciting layout and built because it's a new type of ride. Batman was built with tons of new elements and a new ride type. Whew!!!)
Space Shuttle America : REMOVED (One of My Sister's Favorite Rides)
Triple Play : STAYING
Could they please repaint Iron Wolf like Riddler's Revenge at Magic Mountain now that Deja Vu is gone? (I have been sending Six Flags letters to repaint it for years now) It would breathe new life into it and make it look new. (General Public from Geauga Lake left in 2004 seeing Thunderhawk Teal and Red; came back with it Orange and Yellow; and thought it was a new coaster, Sorry Geauga Lake Fanboys, the new admission price is a joke in my opinion.)
I would assume the reason Iron Wolf hasnt been painted yet is because the extensive work it needs done on its foundations every offseason with its decreased popularity would make it a good candidate for removal in the near future, and painting a coaster is a large investment. They did paint DejaVu and take it down a few years later, so anythings possible .
I thought that Deja Vu was already sold. Why is it still listed for sale? If they dont find a buyer will it just sit around in pieces untill it gets sold?

Its custom
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
I'm just worried that Six Flags will "Pull a Busch Gardens" (I trademark that quote) and add a very simple layout with the 90 degree drop and inversions as it only things. Compare Griffin to Sheikra and you'll see that they are very similar, simple, layouts. I'm not saying Griffin is a bad coaster but I'm saying that it could have been more with a camelback hill, a helix, more tunnels, more than just left turns, and a ride that didn't have a break section about 25 seconds after the first drop.
Secondly, if Iron Wolf needs such maintenance every year, why don't they just get B&M to design new track and/or supports like Deep Spine Track to be even smoother (Silver Star at Europa Park has this and FParker could tell you for sure if it's smooth).
Personally, I think the reason why it's so rough is because of the trains. Compare an rcdb picture of Iron Wolf to Nowadays (You'll see the trains had red over the shoulder restraints and were like normal B&M Trains.)
My question, if anyone knows, is why did Iron Wolf get Intamin Trains after years of B&M?
^Those red restraints were Intamin's restraints. The ride has always had intamin trains they just switched the horse collars after a few years hoping that it would lead to a better ride experience.
I'll agree that dive coasters have very lame gimmacky layouts and that much more could be done with the coasters, but I also don't think we can get one anyway. What happened to that contract Busch apparently signed with B&M saying no dive coasters to any other parks for like 7 years or something like that?

It was till the end of 2007. So the park could build a dive machine if they wanted to.

I really think this is for the best interest of the park. I mean think about it...The GP knows this ride as the RIDE THATS ALWAYS CLOSED...might as well take it out..
"Oh My Gosh, She is such a whore!" - heard behind me exiting Raging Bull.
^ I understand that....I see it this way we lose Vu and get TDK but still I'm upset and hey i know it's been gone for 5 years now but I still miss Shockwave too. Vu was a good ride...when it was open.
^Jackluver, I gotta agree! I miss Shockwave and I never even rode it! Yeah that makes no sense...but I mean, the first year I went to sfgam, I wanted so badly to ride it, but it was 2003 and it wasn't there! The new Dark coaster is not going to replace Vu! Nothing can replace Vu! I'm with ya, girl! I'm upset too.
I'm not 100% sure that Six Flags will go through and add a Dive Machine. It doesn't make since in my Opinion unless they were like 150 or less feet tall. Dive Machines seem to go against anything that Shapiro wants. Let Me Explain:
Cost
Dive Machine : Griffin cost almost 16 Million
Mark Shapiro : No More 20 Million dollar Goliaths
Style
Dive Machine : Teen/ Adult Audience
Mark Shapiro : Family Audience
I think we're more likely to get a Euro Fighter than a B&M Dive Machine. But who knows, Maybe Shapiro will surprise us with a 200ft eventful Dive Machine. But right now, I'm thinking Oblivion with a Watersplash as opposed to a Griffin/ Sheikra, but that's just me.
I'm not trying to get anyone upset, but I'm guessing, based on the past few years.
I'm sad and disappointed, I never got to ride Vu. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to GAm very much the past few years, and when I did Vu was closed. And I also still miss Shockwave, I was 9 when it opened.
I don't think he's ever said no more 20 million dollar Goliaths. He has mentioned the fact that there would no longer be 2-3 parks getting one 20 million dollar ride, when he could get a package deal for the same price (at least for the near future anyway)
It isn't like he going to stop adding coaster and thrills. As of now, it is rather pointless to add one major coaster to a park, considering that a majority of the company is getting some sort of addition for that 20 million dollars that one park would have been able to get on a huge coaster.
Yea, and it has been two years since he took over and going on 3 for 2009. With GAm being the model park, why not give it something it desperately needs, a larger sized coaster, the parks hasn't got a decently sized coaster since 2003. The other two coasters were aimed toward families and I think he is starting to realize that he still needs to bring in the thrill rides to bring back the teens as well because he does make some money off of them as well. Anyways, we will see what is planned.
