Some people say the Marriott music is bland, but I say I miss it and with a passion! That's what made the park Great America. Now the park should be called "Corporate America".
Too bad Mr. Six didn't kick the GEEKO off the Viper!
I do have portions of the soundtracks on my Ipod already.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.
Hear ye, hear ye: "After 45 years, Six Flags has stopped smoking."
I'm in the park now (Cyber Cafe), and can confirm that some of the Marriott music is back. Hometown Square, Orleans Place are back to Marriott days as far as the music goes.
SW Territory is also back to the orginial music.
County Fair, is still the new pop music.
I did not hear any when I walked through Yankee or Yukon. I'll have to go back and check them out.
I wonder if they have just been doing this as an experiment. Kind of like the V2/Iron Wolf experiment with loose articles. I guess it's kind of a good thing being that it seems like management is more involved with the park. I don't think people will complain about the music anymore being that SF TV in the ques drown out the sounds and music from the Midway. Which wasn't the case before. Anyone remember waiting in line for dejavu in the switch backs hearing the 4 min loop of the country fair music for 1-2 hours on end? The one good thing about the County Fair music was that you could sing along to it and easily make your own lyrics.
I was in the park yesterday and what a difference it was. Something as little as the music gave the park it's character back. I didn't even care about the advertisements. However it was my first visit to the park since I've been back from CP. I supposed being used to a bland, boring, and theme less park all summer probably made me appreciate the park a bit more.

I remember hearing pop musc for Yukon. Also funny swear i heard it in SWT. Man the music in the front of the park is wonderful
^I need to pay more attention to the music i guess. I didnt notice a HUGE change in the music variety... But its getting beter! You have to remember, most of the GP love the popish/technoish music which was playing in the park
1- What was the Song they played during the Parade This Year?
2- Anyone else tired of hearing "SIX FLAGS Music" (Six Flags Play Music!!! Their Music Selection is more Limited than MTV has been in the last 5 Years)
3- I Will Lose my mind if I Hear "I Like To Move It, Move It", OR "My Life Would Suck Without You" at the park Again.
4- Can We have 2 Karaoke Places? 1 in Orleans Gazebo with 40s-90s & Farmers Market Stage playing 90s-10s.
1. "Let it Shine" it was written for the Glow in the Park Parades.
2/3- You clearly have not read the last several posts, go back and reread about changing park music.
4. Why? One Karaoke place is bad enough, no one wants to walk through the park hearing shy teens trying to sing Taylor Swift and just end up in a laughing fit.

Actually the old music they played in County Fair (that played from 1976 through 2005) was so horrible and corny that it was hilarious. I remember people frequently bursting into laughing fits over how cheesy it was (or being incredibly annoyed). Ive always thought the old music they played at Admission, Carousel Plaza, SWT, and Mardi Gras was good and fit the area but the other Marriott soundtracks need to be replaced with new themed music badly. It's cool that Marriott had custom music made for the parks themed areas (though the later built SWT was Jim Hendricks music and Mardi Gras Buckwheat Zydeco) but some areas were...odd to say the least. Anybody else remember listening to instrumental [keyboard] "drunken-sailor" while waiting in line for V2?

I won't however that's the only pop music that they should play. I think they are already on the way to doing that though. While waiting in line for S:UF today i heard I like to move at 4 and than New Orleans type of music

That experiment was interesting to say the least. Day 1: No line greeter; however, still enforcing the policy on platform and allowing sports bottles to be left... that was odd. "Yeah, you can leave your bottle there, but you can't ride because of your bag." Atleast day 2 abolished the policy all together. While it created confusion at other rides that were not experimenting... it was less annoying.

While I've no word on making it official, I agree that it does add some character back to the park. While unintended it seems Whizzer personified the "Bring back the old days" movement. Whizzer dropped it's ad-wraps and a week or so later the former red Demon train becomes immovable and they start to play the old music.
Now I'll definitely be more than happy if they play scary music at night for Frightfest this year. At least at night to give the park that certain ambiance and atmosphere it so truly needs. Hope the music is everywhere to be heard. Wonder if the park plays different scary music for each area or the same music for the whole park? Eager to see and hear what happens!
