SFGAm to announce 2011 addition on September 1st

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

^^I think you are on to something about the 1300 ft square expansion. ^For the text, it doesn't fit after near-vertical (water coaster) slide. The water coaster text doesn't fit. It might say coaster slide, but it can't say water coaster unless they are using small font. I think that's the reason why people got the idea near-vertical loop water slide, and if you go to Noah's Ark Scorpion Tail, they advertise it as "Oh, and did we mention America’s first nearly vertical waterslide loop? "
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"

With out a doubt it is going to be a Hurricane Harbor Expansion. I can tell by the writing: The Best Waterpark in the Nation Just Got Bigger. They are going to be adding a waterslide that will take you on a near Vertical Plunge probably around 130 feet. Thats why they had to go to the Gurnee Zoning board. And thats why there is the under funstruction barricades in the parking lot.

^And that is something that this waterpark was lacking. A vertical speed slide. Great addition in my opinion!!!!!
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Would anyone care to tell me why they would say "130ft" water slide on the top half and then list that same water slide under "featuring" a second time? That just doesn't make any sense to me.

What does make sense to me is a new slide complex.
Take a look at the picture it's a list.

-Near Vertical Water Slide
-Double Sided (something)
-Some sort of pool? (Maybe just a wading pool or something small like that?)

1300sq ft expansion with these three/four new additions. Place your bets people.

I was the first to call out expansion before the last thread disappeared, 1300 feet would equal the area where go karts and SSa (used to) be.

And would also allow for the movement of a brand new, completely separate entrance for hurricane harbor.

^Yes you were the first one to think of the idea. But i am now joining the bandwaggen with you. And a new HH gate would be beter for both parks, but still it will be interesting to see if HH will still maintain the big attendance it gets every day.

Possibly use the rear gate for season pass holders/people who have tics to both parks?

^^I feel a new gate would be bad for hoping that SFGAm regular park is going to get less crowded. It's going to get worse (the lines for roller coasters). There are a bunch of people that go to the waterpark not very long at all, and than leave. Those people aren't going to want to pay extra money just to stay in the waterpark all day. So, if separate gate what I see happening is that Hurricane Harbor decreasing in people, and regular Six Flags Great America increasing in people.

I would like to see how park capacity would work with a seperate gate. It either could be a EPIC PASS or a EPIC FAIL, i guess we will just have to wait and see(if there making a seperate gate). Epic fails are more fun to say, so i hope it will fail... Just sayin lol

I wish we could try it one year and if it doesn't work out then we don't keep it for the 2012 season

1300 sq ft is the size of an average house. An acre is 43,560 sq ft. That would make the SSA/go karts more like 130,000 sq ft.

I've looked on the Gurnee website and here and can't seem to find it, but wasn't there 2 things at the meeting they needed approval for? The first being the height of the coaster with the first drop, and the second was unknown? I swear it was around 130ft and it was confusing because the loop on Change was only 121. So maybe this was also planned for the season along with Chang? Now maybe they just redesigned it a little so they wouldn't have to go back to the board for the height approval? I'm just throwing this out there guys....you never know! :D

The variances were for the top of the lift, and the drop.

Very bad news that this year's addition is going to be too the water park. The main park itself is in need of major work and with limited money the last thing we need is too add a ride to the water park which has limited hours of operation, limited days it is open, and that is before you factor in inclement weather.
While Chang wouldnt have been a great addition, it would have been much better than what we are now getting. Also bad that valuable land that could be used for the main park is now lost when the park doesnt have a large amount of unused land.

You guys have no idea how small 1300 square feet is do you? My 2 bedroom house is around that size. If that is what the expansion is you couldn't have much more than a kiddie pool. 1300' worth of slide would make more sense.

It's funny. I think they thought that everyone would be clamoring over this ad scheme, but everyone seems to hate the outcome. (Facebook at least.)
