Well I remember the line for X Flight when it was open for season pass holders only was about 20-30 minutes long. That's better than an hour or two. There WILL be some kind of a line however, it probably won't be to atrocious.

Im thinking about requesting May 23rd off for the season pass holder night. Can someone pm me and explain how it works to me because I have never been to one before and if someone can give me that information, that would be awesome. Please and thank you.

For everyone who is thinking that this ride will receive negative reviews because of length needs to see it through. The ride is short, but packs so much of a punch it will blow people away. It is also a bit longer than Outlaw Run which received incredible reviews so I wouldn't worry about it. Also who all is going the 23rd? I will for sure be there! I just hope Great America doesn't rush the theming or anything because of the said release date.

I think people are getting a little confused between the two events.

The nighttime event from Midnight - 2am is ONLY for people who got special tickets directly from the park. They were given out at NCC, construction tours, etc. They said they might sell tickets to the public, but nothing has been announced as of now.

The following day, Friday May 23rd, is a regular operating day for the park, 10:30 - 7. On that day, anyone can with a season pass can ride Goliath. Just show it at the queue entrance and you're good to go.

Something tells me everything is going to get pushed back some. Even the recent SFGAm SP emails says Goliath will be opening later this season rather than saying memorial day.

Yes on Friday, May 23rd. If you have a season pass, take that night as an opportunity to get as many rides in as you can on Goliath since the next day when Goliath opens to the GP, the line is going to be EXTREMELY long. Probably 2-3 hours or more. The thing that is starting to make me feel anxious is that if the line is that long, alot of the folks will say the ride was not worth it and it will receive negative reviews and everyone will think the ride was a letdown since the ride is relatively short.

Who cares? They aren't going to remove it after a few weeks because a few people gave it negative reviews. If anything, it's better for people who do like the ride, because the lines would be shorter.

That's really not an indication of anything - I don't think they've ever listed "Memorial Day" on anything they've sent out - they've always just said "this summer". Honestly, if you're the park, I don't think it makes any sense to really push one particular day (even if you are going to make it) - it makes no sense to really really push Memorial Day and then have Memorial Day get really crowded. They want people to come this summer (and for many years to come).

There continues to be no official word (or even rumors that are stronger than "I have a hunch" or "something tells me") that it'll be delayed, so until there is I don't see the point in this sort of speculation.

^I don't see the problem with speculating, that's part of the discussion boards after all. I would love to see them make the Memorial Day weekend opening, but I wouldn't be upset if it's delayed a week or two. This RMC crew endured one of the worst winters I've seen in my lifetime and have done a nice job.

I was only half way through Outlaw Run when I said in my head, "This is the greatest coaster I've ever ridden". It wasn't a long ride but I've never experienced another coaster where every single part (not exaggerating) was action packed. From the first drop, the inversions, and every little drop and turn throughout. Most coasters that people rave about, I end up going in with too high of expectations and they don't deliver. Outlaw Run still blew away my expectations that were extremely high. It was incredible and I can't wait to ride Goliath!

I have no idea whether it will be delayed, but they have absolutely no wiggle room at all. I'm actually surprised they're not working longer hours now that it's light out until 7:30pm.

Another factor that seems to be holding them up and causing the ride to be delayed is the fact that RMC does not work on Sundays.

^ Well we can't expect them to work seven days a week..
Besides, they knew the work schedule when planning the construction timeline, so it shouldn't push back anything. If anything would push back the opening, it's the winter we've had, not taking Sunday off.

It's really sad that everyone on here is worried about when the ride will open. It will open when they are ready for it to open and not any sooner! The fact that the winter was how it was, surprises me that they are not even further behind. I will be satisfied whenever they decide to open it, especially since we are getting probably one, if not the most anticipated coasters for 2014 after only 2 years after getting another major coaster X-Flight! We are very lucky to be getting a great addition to our coaster line up and no matter when it opens I will be happy with the 2014 season! :D

Goliath opening late (later than originally thought, anyway) could be a good thing for the park. People are there watching a HUGE new ride going up - and they want to come back to see the thing in action.

and besides that, after the date specified in the contract passes, SF/SFGAm starts making bank. Generally for most rides it's thousands of dollars per day that the ride is late. :D

Those people who are expecting that Goliath will be open on May 24th, just like the park said will be pissed off if it isnt open on that day. Has the lift hill gone up any higher than was seen last week in the webcam?

No, almost no visible progress has been made in the past week or so. That being said, I think people should calm down a little. RMC is clearly not just sitting back and doing nothing. We've seen how fast these guys work (finished tracking almost the entire dive loop in one day). If we haven't seen any visible work the past week, they are probably working on electrical systems by the lift/station. Whatever they are working on now, they would've had to work on it after the track was complete if not now and the coaster would be done at the same time. Towards the end of winter they said that they were on schedule. The brutal days were past us at that point so there is no reason to believe that a little snow here and there would make them fall behind if they managed to stay on schedule through the roughest winter we've had in a while.

^ The thing that concerns me is a lot of the electrical stuff can NOT be done until the lift and brake run are finished.

Doesn't the zero G roll have to be completed before the lift can reach its full height?
Or can they build the lift to its full height and track the zero G roll in under it?

transfer track too, there is a ton of control stuff involved, once the lift, station and trasnfer are done it's usually about 3-4 weeks until testing begins.

While we're talking about time and such, I just got this comment on my last youtube video:

"I highly doubt that they need 3 weeks of testing. My guess I'd that they probably need 1-2 weeks of testing... Construction is expected to be done by May 17th..."

Ok...
1. For what reason would they be done that late, and how would you know that?
2. One week of testing? The dates don't match up. That's LESS than a week from the current media day they have planned...

They are on schedule; we just do not know what the scheduled opening date is. People took it to hart when a few reports from the media said it was opening May 24th. Nowhere on their website or press release does it say when it is going to open. The fact that they still not saying a date makes be believe they are still not sure when it will open.

Based on the video post from Lake County and the way Brandon hesitated to even mention a month. He just said just before summer makes me believe that it will open on or around June 20, 2014.
