HH is not considered a ride per se and has since been put in many parks in the chain. I really think as much as we say it isn't so the majority of the people I talk to say they visit Cedar Point more than Six Flags even though it is farther. So CP is competition even though it is technically not in the Chicago/Midwest area.
1. Cedar Fair is not direct competition. Sure, a few people here and there from Chicago travel to CP, but it's not enough to make it a threat to SFGAm.
2. You can say what you want , but SFGAm has not been shafted at all. Maybe in your world, only high thrill coasters are essential. This park has 14 coasters, a water park included with admission, and a decent amount of flats. If that bores you, find another form of entertainment.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
Don't start Chi-Town. Don't start going on about finding other places to go to bleh bleh bleh. 14 coasters? Not everyone, especially the general public, consider eagle 2 coasters. Furthermore, when you have St.Louis, Great Adventure, Over Texas, magic Mountain get big rides in recent years and we get a family ride announced year after year you cannot help but feel disappointed.
I have the right to say that and i'm sorry you don't agree. For fans that want thrills, you have to omit Rajun Cagun and Dark Knight for the most part. Like I said, most people that go to the park and aren't web browsing fans like us, cosider Eagle ONE. Let us see:
Rajun Cagun The Dark Knight Buccaneer Battle Operation Spygirl Little Dipper Wiggles World
It is only natural fans want something like Chang now.
The GP likes to see a new thing every now and then. It seems that only die-hard fans seem to want Chang. I don't know why you are really fighting about this. People go to the park to have fun, not to find problems in everything.

So its the LIMs making the loud noise? What makes them make sucha noise?
It's very complicated and hard to explain. So without a technical explanation, you know when a motor runs it makes a low humming sound. It's the same thing with Linear Induction Motors though there is no casing to contain the noise. Also the long and flat fins vibrate a lot more than a big heavy wound rotor in a motor.

Even though u have 2 sides on Eagle, the experience on both is very similar and technically it is on the same structure and design. it is a racing wooden roller coaster that has 2 sides (blue & red) but that does not make the American Eagle count as 2 coasters. It is Six Flags way of making it seem like we are 3 rides away from the record.

Step 1. Get 2 sheets of wax paper. Step 2. Open Google Earth or another imaging program. Step 3. Trace American Eagle Blue on one sheet of wax paper. Step 4. Trace American Eagle Red on the other. Step 5. Try to super impose them, or try to flip one upside down and superimpose them to prove that they are mirror images. Step 6. Come back on here and admit that eagle red and blue are two different coasters.
Remember, there's nothing but air beneath the chair.

I'm gonna go ahead and destroy your argument.
First and foremost, you listed three roller coasters in that list out of 6. Yeah, they are smaller coasters, but our park had a gaping whole in the kids department in 2004, now its pretty solid. Second, I know it might to be a roller coaster, but you forgot Hurricane Harbor which cost more than 3 coasters and its still FREE for us to use, that right there shows that our park HAS been invested in heavily.
Next, think of the 6 or 7 years before 2004. We got: Viper Giant Drop/Southwest Territory Raging Bull SUF Vertical Velocity Deja Vu
So it's only natural that corporate believes our park has seen a lot of investment in thrills and gears it toward other people for a period. If it doesn't make 5% of their customers happy, so be it. Most people go to the park because they wanna ride Raging Bull and Batman or go to that shiny nice waterpark they get for free. I'm not saying we aren't going to see another big ride soon, because I actually think we will see a major addition in the next 2 years, but don't hold your breath afterwards for another 6 or 7 years.
It's business, we make money as a park, and have no tough competition. Why invest more than you need to?

I don't want Chang at Great America. The way I look at it, it's a waste of a "new coaster". If they have waited this long to add a new coaster they should add something better (not bigger though). I don't know why they can't add a GCI like Terminator Salvation. There cheap and awesome and extremely customizable.
Also people like Wooden coasters. I don't know of anyone that would say "why would they add another wooden coaster, they already have Eagle and Viper"? SFStl has people riding all three. The same would happen at GAm.
In my honest opinion...Chang is a boring and force less B&M. It would just tone down our coaster collection.
^I can't say anything about Terminator, but GCI's are great wooden coasters. The only one that i've ridden has been Evel Knievel at SFStL, but they are very fast paced with lots of curves and great pops of airtime throughout the ride. Eagle and Viper are fun, but in my opinion Evel Knievel is better.

I like GCI's a lot (except Rumbler and Prowler). My favorites are Renegade and Evil. Terminator had great pacing a didn't let up, yet it also wasn't just a bunch of small (half turn- half bunny hills). It doesn't matter if it would be better then Viper or Eagle. If a custom GCI came to the park people would ride it, people would like it, it would help out the park tremendously. Besides, Six Flags seems to like GCI a lot already so it really just makes sense.
From what I have experienced, even when they move rides to other parks they are still not that popular and are rarely "a huge hit". If they added Chang the hype would die pretty fast. Besides, just really try to image a big Yellow B&M in the park...it just doesn't fit. And I really hope Six Flags has learned from there past that they can't just move/add rides on concrete.
