Candy: What you lookin' at? Otis B. Driftwood: I'm lookin' at you, mama. Candy: Yeah, you see something you like? Otis B. Driftwood: Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed.
^ That path isn't wide enough for a scare zone. Bermuda Triangle will probably be contained to the area around the Pink Flamingo Cafe, actor wise at least.
I noticed that there is a scare pass and a slash pass this year. If you have the slash pass do you cut the entire line that the scare pass people wait in.

Last night was the Fright Fest preview - I was lucky enough to (again) be able to go and check everything out. I can confirm the whole "Slash Pass" ticket, as I got one last night. You are able to go straight to the front of every house as many times as you want.
All the houses and walkthroughs were working, aside from "The Abyss", which did not open. Not sure why. Here is the order I put the houses in. Keep in mind I hope they get better because as of last night the actors might still be slightly new and need to have a few more victims wander past them.
1. Manslaughter Manor was easily the best house of the night. The rooms were well done and the actors inside had the best performances. (Again, my opinion.)
2. Mausoleum of Terror is always a classic, but some parts were extremely dark when I felt you were suppose to be seeing something, so it took away from the whole scary/creepy aspect. Some walkways were difficult to see where you needed to walk on paths and such, so it's a little confusing. Necropolis is also smaller (I believe) due to construction of Goliath. You still go in the same way but the scenery doesn't start until you get to the (what do you want to call it) courtyard where the Freak Show used to be.
3. Massacre Medical Center was hugely improved (again, my opinion) from last year. Rooms were very similar, but I remember last year it was too bright in there (or something) and this year it had a much more creepy feel to it. It needed more actors - which hopefully appear before all of you wander through it. Lots of dead spots that could be used for good scares.
4. Wicked Woods was a letdown, until you get to the cave. Oh my, that was well done Short but sweet. Remember, go through only at night or it will be totally lame.
5. Total Darkness was a huge flop - but with the space they had I understand the limitations. I believe this haunt has two wings, left and right, to make the line move faster. I went right, or was told to go right (LOL) and after about 3-5 minutes I was back in Bermuda Triangle. So I wouldn't base buying a Haunted House ticket if you really wanted to go through this one, as it is incredibly short.
Someone wanted to know how Bermuda Triangle was. It has cool blue lights (that simulate waves, like on East River Kraken) and they are a lot of costumed actors around.
6. Abyss - Not open.
5 rides were open for the evening:
House of Conjure Terror Twister 2 East River Kraken Biohazard Demon
I know I always go on and on and on about how amazing Terror Twister 2 is (and not because I have some involvement) but I want to express how incredible it is this year. In my personal opinion, it is without a doubt the best this year than it ever has. Both foggers are working this year! Same as previous installments, 8 cycles (maybe some new ones )
House of Conjure finally got it right and added a healthy amount of fog. The room is blanketed with a nice layer of fog. "Bodies" by Drowning Pool blasts through the darkness (well, blacklight darkness) to help you decimate you enemies, or are they friends, I don't know I was so happy to see it operating this way as I felt just driving around in blacklights to be somewhat of a disappointment.
East River Kraken has two foggers, tons of lights, and 2 strobe lights. It was a ton of fun! Of course the ride blows all the fog away instantly but if you sit near the fogger before the ride cycle starts, you'll be blasted!
Biohazard was the same, as was the Demon. Demon had fog in the lift tunnel and light up tunnel, but the Demon's mouth either didn't have one yet or it wasn't on.
Ragin Cagin has a tombstone. The graveyard is outside the Southwest Amphitheater.
Ride names are as follows:
House of Conjure Blood Bath East River Kraken Valhalla Fire (did I spell this right?) It is not the Spider's Web. Pit and the Pendulum Black Widow Ricoslay Terror Twister 2 Giant Drop of Doom Snakes on a Train Biohazard Reactor Core
Larry and Tiny are ready to party, as well as "Cylde" (the drunk zombie outside Mausoleum). I offended him by referring to him as "the drunk zombie", so he corrected me with "Hey, I have a name, it's Clyde" and stumbled off. LOL.
On top of all of this is easily one of the best changes they made - they brought back ALL the old theme music! All the Halloween theme songs and various other themes play throughout the park! It was like classic Fright Fest to me, the background music they had been playing the last couple years, even though eerie and creepy at times never set the tone for the night than hearing the Halloween Theme as you enter the gates.
All in all, a solid night and what promises to be one of the best Fright Fest's in years. I was overly impressed with the evening and can't wait to go back. For all you going Saturday, unlike with past years, nearly everything is ready and waiting!
See you guys there soon! Here are some pictures to make your Friday go faster!

We'll just see how long that lasts before it causes a ghost train trouble light
I think it was just seeping in from outside, as in the line queue before you go through the rock hole (lift above you) has a fog tube stretching alongside it. I think it was coming from there, but when you come out of the tunnel going up the hill I was in a nice amount of fog.
Hey everyone! I attended Preview night last night with some friends. As for the harbor. Total Darkness was so confusing. but it was a okay haunt. The Abyss wasn't even open because they didn't finish it in time for preview night. they defiantly switched up a lot of things in the houses this year, and Manslaughter Manor seemed more intense. Necropolis was REALLY good this year. The scenes were amazing so they must have had new blood decorating it this year. Anyway, I would suggest getting the Haunt pass this year. Thats all. Have a great Friday!
When you get to the top, and you hear that click, you better hang on, because your coming down quick!
"Everyone, listen to me! These jerks killed Superboy. They've tried to kill us. Now they say they're going to tear this city apart. I say... like hell."
I love going to Fright Fest every year, but this year because of my work schedule, I'd only be able to go on one of the Thursday night dates where the park is open from 6 PM to 10 PM. I can get a discounted ticket from work for $39. I was wondering if anybody has gone to Fright Fest in a past year on one of these nights and if you could give me some insight into how the crowd turnout is. Would I be able to have enough time to ride at least every coaster once and maybe hit a haunted house or three?
I would say there might still be decent waits if this is the only time you are able to go and you want to hit every coaster then my advice is that you splurge and get a flash pass reg is 50 gold i think is some where between 65 and 75 and platinum is 115 but with platinum you get to ride twice which may be beneficial. use your judgement head towards superman and see what it looks like if you deem it waitable you should be ok. Some of the House lines were longer than others and some were like 5 10 minute waits. I think a lot of people are getting pissed off at the prices they are charging and arent bothering.
^ The bush people this year do exist, but not in Necropolis. The trees and bushes where they are normally located have been cleared and it is one giant open space. If you happen to go into one of the haunted houses, you will find them. I don't feel like saying which one, though...
