i keep seeing people say that there will for sure not be a new coaster this offseason. I was just wondering how you all know for sure and hy there wont be a new one.
People are probably basing this on the parks history of installing coasters. The only real exception is the installation of 2 coasters in one year being DV and V2.Oh, and the other exception is the reprofiling of Turn of the Century to Demon in 1980 and the next year the installation of American Eagle.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
There is a two year pattern at GreatAm but your right know one really knows if we are going to recieve a new coaster or not. in my opinion we will get another this off season.
If you've noticed around the park, a lot of flats have been disappearing for various reasons. I have a feeling that instead of a coaster, we would be more in line for a flats package, rather than a coaster
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name
A flat ride package would be ideal for further expansion. The last time we got flats was when SWT opened. Also, another junior type coaster would be the most logical. They could fit one in Looney Tunes Land.

Flats are very fun to ride, at least good ones are. We could use some upgraded flats to help the park overall. No one knows what we will be getting next year, not even SF its self.....yet. Its all based on the amount of people they draw in this year. The decison will come by SF Corp. on who to give new rides to and who not to probally sometime in July, and we might get some hints as soon as Aug. if we do end up getting a new ride.
Six Flags has a pretty good idea on whats for 2004. You can't just say I want a coaster in a month. most coasters are planed a year in advance. TTD was planned 3 years in advance I heard.

If we are truly not getting a new coaster this year, then what do you think is the most important change/addition that needs to be made to the park?As for me, I really think that it's time to overhaul the Hometown Fun Machine, Triple Play, Fiddler's Fling, Condor, & Bumper Cars. The flats in Southwest Terr. look so good, why not make the rest of them throughout the park be as well maintained, painted, and themed as those. For example, a complete themeing and paint job is needed on the condor to make it either fit the New Orleans theme (finally!) or to accompany Superman, which it now sticks out against in a way it never did against Shockwave.Your opinions?
By the way, just to let you know, the above message was posted an hour and a half before this topic was started. Then my post was locked because this one had replies and mine didn't. This leads me to question, why wouldn't an insightful, gramatically correct, well-spelled post be responded to, but a typical post would be?I know I'm a newbie, but I don't understand the preference for replying.

In some cases yes. For a prototype of course they do, but SfWoA was supposed to be getting a hyper this year, but because of low-attendance it was pushed back anything can happen at this time of year, for decideing who gets what.
You could care less about flats? So, in other words, you're saying you'd like to see more flats at GAm?Lol, I had to get technical... Nothing personal, I'm assuming you meant "I couldn't care less about flats". It's a mistake a lot of people make, and I always seem to catch it for some reason.
Im not a big fan of flats but it would add a great addition to the park. I would hope a coaster next year goes to SFStL. That is a great park that deserves alot more attention. Maybe we will see a new coaster there but I doubt we get one here.

Speaking of my hyper I should have had this year... I want to know more about that!
i dont think were getting a new coaster. I read on a website 1 day (end of may '03) that Six Flags has arranged for 3 new coasters to be build for the 2004 season. Our park (Great America) is NOT on the list for a new coaster this year. I forgot what the 3 parks were too. So no luck this year.
