The Perfect Park

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Ilovthevu' on December 11th, 2004, 2:29 pm
The question is does SFGAm need anything done to it to make it better or is it perfect? I'm talking about the whole park now including shows, rides, games, foods, parking, walkways, benches, and anything else. I'll give you one of my suggestions.

I would say to move the Batman car because it gets beat up many times when I'm there by little kids climbing on it. I would probably move it on top of the ride if that were even possible.

Some things can improve. Such as Deja Vu's camouflage look.

I like most of the shows except Batman...I would definatly bring back the Batman Show. And put up a floorless...but let's nto start that. Otherwise I liked the line-up of shows this year. I also think I would put some kind of supway or monorail, or charilift or something that went from County Fair/SWT to Yankee/Yukon area. And I think I would take down Vu, and Put up a SWAT type ride, and a Ghostblasters. i think we have plenty of benches, walkways etc...

I think it would be the perfect park after there is no more room to expand. I know there are some spots left for coasters, but in about ten years i think we will have all of the current types of coasters.

Postby DejaVu The Ride on December 11th, 2004, 7:09 pm
These are things that I would do to make the park just a little bit closer to perfect.(Please don't say some of these things are not practical. Nothing is impossible.)

Things that need to be repainted:
Condor, Fiddler's Fling, Iron Wolf, American Eagle(hopefully by March :D ), DejaVu, and maybe a few shops and restaurants.

Keep park/ride capacity up as high as possible.
1. Better training to some ride ops to ensure ultimate capacity.(ig Rue Le Dodge.)
2. Have 2 ride ops(during peak hours) running many of the popular flat rides that usually don't(East River Crawler, Fiddler's Fling, Chubasco, Ricochet, Hometown Fun Machine)
3. Always run 3 trains on Raging Bull, Demon, and Whizzer.(At least when it is needed. ig when the line with 2 trains is at least a half hour long.)
4. Train the people in the ticket booths better.
5. Have more ticket booths open in the morning and all of the parking booths.
6. Groupers at DejaVu, Viper, Whizzer, V2 and S:UF at all times.
7. Fix the blocking on Ragin' Cajun in order to run all 9 cars.(They need to run it like Disney runs theirs.

Shows
1. Theatre Royale- Put the magic show here. The name even fits it better.
2. Mardi Gras Stage- Manny B. is fine where he is and so are the jugglers.)
3. Showshoe taphouse- Put some kind of western act here.
4. Southwest Territory Ampitheater- A stunt show would be a lot of fun.
5. Wilderness Theater- Have more special events or a summer concert tour of popular bands, etc. like other parks do(ig SfDL.)
6. Grand Music Hall- A creative dance/musical spectacle.(Don't ask.)
7. Columbia carousel stage- I like Six Flags Party.
9. Pictorium- Just a new show every year would be nice.
10. Nightly Parade- Make it a spectacle that everyone should see. More floats, more pyro, more street performers.
11. Dayly parade- Add a neat parade like around 2pm every afternoon. It would be cool.
12. Dj Bob is fine where he is too.

Games
1. Add new games that are more interesting.
2. Add newer arcade games and make sure all games are always working.

Food
1. New menu options.
2. Better atmosphere in all the restaurants.

Restrooms
1. Add a new bathroom in Mardi Gras.

Queue lines
1. I would add misters and fans in the unbearable lines.
2. More shading over Ragin' Cajun, V2, Batman's overflow queue(it is used often), and the extension to Logger's Run's queue line.
3. I would fix the Iron Wolf 1st row queue.
4. American Eagle queue needs to be reworked somehow.
5. Keep all the soda machines in lines working.
6. Have security often check lines to prevent line jumping. Also, be more strict in line jumping situations.
7. Fastlane is fine. Q-bot sounds as if it is one big problem.

Rides to fix
1. Try to only use light-medium trims on the double helix and light trims on the final helix.(I understand the structure issues.)
2. Keep the last trim on Raging Bull off.
3. Lighten up on the trims on Ragin' Cajun.
4. New Iron Wolf trains.
5. Run a better program on King Chaos. It's not like the kiddies are going to go on it as it is.
6. Maybe seatbelts on Fiddler's Fling. (This is one ride that I feel actually needs them.
7. Add the individual lap-bars that Zamperla has designed, for Ragin' Cajun.

Park atmosphere
1. Repave trouble spots in the park and the parking lot.
2. Have a nice variety of music for each section of the park.
3. Have sweepers always visible.

Rides to add
1. I would add a traditional ferris wheel. I'm not really sure where.(Not by STT though.
2. Sally Dark ride(Scooby?). I would add it near the exit to Pictorium and I would resituate the go-carts along with the entrance to Hurricane Harbor.
3. I would add a B&M floorless in the area between Viper and the Whizzer.
(That is it for now.)

More to add soon. :D

All of that stuff sounds good. They have security watching the lines on busy days sometimes for the rides with big lines. I think we should also get the water blasters working for kc and to get some unique/new type of ride to put us above all other parks.

For games, I'd like a ticket good for one prize at the end of the day, so people don't have to carry around large stuffed animals.
I'd rather be riding the Voyage

Repaint: Condor ( hope they do this over the offseason as part of the Refurbishment), Fiddler's Fling, Iron Wolf, Deja Vu, Orbit, HTFM, and touch up Batman...If just looks bad with Yellow and silver spots along the track...

Viper and Vu should have groupers at all time! Even on days when it's not crowded at all those stations are crazy.

Shows:
Picotium- Whatever Imax Film.
Grand Music Hall- A Looney Tunes Character Show
Southwest Amphitheatre- Batman Stunt Show
Market Stage: D.J. Bob
Wilderness Theatre- Special Events and P.T. Scarum at FF, so there can be more room in the Midways this year...I really didn't like the placement.
Snowshoe Saloon: Manny B.
Mardi Gras: Jugglers
Theatre Royale: Magic Whatever.
Parade:
Jumpin' Jammin' Jubille: 1 hour before the park closes.
Mardi Gras Parade (With beads): Every day at around 2. During Mardi Gras and on peak summer days.

Fright Fest Shows:
Pictorium: Whatever Imax Film
Grand Music Hall: Love at First Fright
Reflection Pond: Dead Elvis
Hometown Stage: I Think they should take SDMT around the whole park and have a pre-show here. as well as the Zombie Jamboree Pre-Show at Night, and the Monster Mardi Gras Parade Pre-Show early in the day.
Southwest Amphithetre: The Batman and Robin Halloween Spectacular!
Market Stage: Jugglers O' Death
Mariachi Stage: D.J. Bob
Wilderness Theatre: P.T. Scarum
Snowshoe Saloon: Looney Tunes: Fright Fest Buffet
Mardi Gras Stage: Manny B. Monster Show.

Food:
I have never seen Bayou Grill Open! It is tucked away and they never do anything with it! Either open it or build something more interesting then a white building with no purpose!

Also, I think a walk-in restaurant is Needed for County Fair...you could say Wascals, but I don't think that qualifys.

Lines:
They need to put up Vu-type shading over Ragin' Cajun's Line, It's horrible!

I think they shoulw get some line-entertainers. Like little card Trick people, or street performers. That would really make the time for by faster.

Atmosphere:
All of HTS needs to be repaved. There are marks and dents everywhere from the remains of Ally's trolley and the spiret of America Parade. I really hate walking through there! County Fair also needs some repaving around Farmer's MArket and Deja Vu.
Also: have more Looney Tunes. I don't think they should just wander around the park, But you could put them on unused Stages, Like the Mariachi Stage, and the hometown Gazebo, or under the bridges on the left side of the park. I think they should be in many places. The park seemed rather looney-deprived these past few seasons. I remember seeing Wile E. in Southwest Territory. Or running up to Foghorn in County Fair. And sylvester chasing my sister in a bright yellow shirt because he thought she was tweety. But you never see them anymore unless you make a reservation at Mooseburger, or want to sit and wait for them in Theatre Royale. I want them everywhere!

Rides:
I would put up some kind of Transport Ride between CT/SWT and Yankee/Yukon.
A B+M floorless.
Take down DV and put up a SWAT type ride and a "Ghostblasters."
Get some kind of LIM coaster...Like Jokers Jinx or Poltergeist.
Some kind of other flat ride...more for littler kids, like BEB and JWR.

That's what I would do!

Edit: I changed Jokers jinx. My mistake...All the batman names are weird.

After Bayou Grill opened in June/ Late May, I never saw it closed.

And all of County Fair was repaved last year as well as all of Orleans Place and the back the Carousel.

Deja Vu The Ride said: "3. Showshoe taphouse- Put some kind of western act here."

Why would you put a Western Themed show in an Eastern Themed area?

Also some other things that were said:
~ Orbit was rapainted 3 years ago. You can tell when the ride goes in the air.
~ Not the IW repainting thing again.
~ What would be the point of tearing down Deja Vu? It is a coaster that is getting better. It was the best it has been this year.

I would have:
1. Six Flags' Spirit of America Parade run every day at 2:30 with really ood parade floats, american music, dancers, a marching band, and looney tunes characters at the end.
2. Jolley trolleys run non-stop
3. Get ridd of small fountain in the plaza by orbit, get ridd of the fence surrounding hometown park, and get ridd of that big stone thing they put flowers in. Then rename the entire plaza hometown park after adding a lot of trees, flowers, and a statue of bugs bunny where the fountain once was.
4. Warner Brothers Western Stunt Show in the southwest territory amphitheatre
5. Have mariachi bands play on that stage in SWT and add a lot of mexican decorations.
6. Remove about 500 square feet of cement in that open area in front of chubasco where the hanging is located in a triangular shape pointing toward RB, and plant 3 large trees and other plants there. Surround it with an iron fence and benches. Also cut 2 feet from the front of chubasco where benches lie against it to plant flowers.
7. Make a SWT train station With its enterence by the nacho stand and its exit by the games in front of chobasco. The train should stop right on the bridge.
8. Have themed uniforms and character meet and greets dressed to thier themed locations throughout the park.
9. Re-design Yankee Harbor to make it way nicer.
10. Get ridd of Ice Mountain Spash, and get ridd of th line and station. Fill it up with water, and put themed fishing boats and a lighthouse in its place.
11. Put a nightime firework show either in carosuel plaza, shooting fireworks off behind the carosuel ,which would require expanding the plaza and moving the gates back behind the flags and trees to the street and making the plaza open and shaded, or on the waterfront where v2, loggers run, and the now demolished (in my mind) ice mountain splash. It could encorperate patriotic music, boats with orchestras on them, and fireworks being shot off from V2 (which will close its gates at 8 oclock) and from 4 different locations in the picnic grove.
12. Add more shading to Mardi Gras
13. Rename Roaring Rapids Bayue River Rapids and do the following: Theme the tunnel to be a swampy forrest with crocodiles, trees, and branches dangling from the schieling. Have bluegrass music in line, the station, and in the tunnel.
14. Play 3d films in the IMAX theatre.
15. Open the park in December for $15 admission and offer Polar Express in IMAX 3d in the pictorium, decorate all the buildings in Carosuel Plaza, Orleans Place, and hometown sqaure, make the reflection pond an ice skating rink, open all the shops and sell holiday suveniers, candles, decorations, and holiday drinks and food, keep open the bumper cars, have picture taking with santa, and have the trolleys and the train open. At night, have candle-lighting ceremonies and light a ton of candles on the hill in front of the train station. Have holiday parades in the day, and finally, have a holiday firework show at night with christmas songs. They could also do the drive thru winter lights thing that sfgdv did with cars entering the park near the go-carts ( thats the easiest place to do it since theres no trees and the midway is at parking lot level, allthough all this could change depending on where HH enterence will be) and turning right to circle the park and exit out the employee parking lot. This can be accomplished by sending the cars through yankee harbor, then out into the picnic grove (would require removing those ticket gates that are chained up and never used) and leading them through it untill the area where the freak show tent was located in 2003. That area opens into the parking lot when the gates arent locked up if I am remebering correctly, and the cars can then leave the park.

What do you guys think?

I agree with most of the painting ideas.

Something the park really needs to do is investigate why the pond by Deja Vu always reeks like no other, and how to fix it.

I've always wanted one of those too, assuming you meant Joker's Jinx. I absolutely love Flight Of Fear. An indoor coaster at GAm would be awesome!

Besides that, DejaVu The Ride pretty much stated it all. The only thing I'd do different would be to add Whizzer, Logger's Run, and Ice Mtn. to the repaint list.
Finally Coaster Season!!

Look, I don't mean to be rude, but if you can't spell properly, please run your posts through a spell check before posting. It is most irritating to have to try to figure out what the heck someone meant when their post is unreadable.

Anyway, Orbit definitely does NOT need a paint job; at least, not as bad as may other rides. It was just repainted when it was refurbished a few years ago. And Triple Play was painted JUST THIS PAST SEASON when it was refurbished. What more do you want?

rumors are that Wolf will be re-painted. not so much for Eagle, but it would make sense after the station rehab.
