Most Insane/Intense/OMFG WTF IS THIS Moment

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby BBH on September 13th, 2013, 7:27 pm
Great America has a phenomenal coaster and ride selection, and a fair few of them have bizarre/intense moments. Which moment on any ride is the most insane?

For me, it's Viper's one airtime hill, you think, "Oh, that's some nice floa--HOLY **** EJECTOR!"

^ I have to agree with you. I hate the bottom of that loop.

Id say the upward part of the SUF pretzel loop right after the bottom.

Until Goliath opens, nothing at SFGAm. Id say the Flying Snake Dive on Stormrunner or any hill on Skyrush

My favorite element on any coaster is by far Maverick's Stengel Dive, especially in the front seat!

In the back row. Love it, but any more intense and it would be too much for me.

For me it had to be back in 2006 I went to the park and some stoms started rolling though, well along with them came some lightning. Well this shouldn't be a WTF moment except that we were riding at the top of sky trek tower and liteally saw lightning all the way into Wisconsin and all the way into Chicago. Then we had to start down the tower with the lights off which was amazing during a lightning storm. Well we were all set to go home until my friend fogot that he got a characiature of his kid. So we went back and got it and got caught in the rain. Well the park cleared and so did the rain and most of the lightning. So on our way to get the drawing we noticed the Great America Raceway had no lines so we went around and around like 5 times it was f-in fantastic.

Other memorable moments include first rollercoaster ride ever Spacelys Sprocket Rockets didnt know what to expect and cursed a blue streak, first time on AE first drop. First ride on Revy spinning drop from top most height, and first ride on King Chaos at night.

1) Back row Demon. Cannot prepare.
2) First time on Eagle's drop. Was not prepared.

At SFGAM, it's definitely Superman's pretzel. At any park, I've gotta go with the launch on Top Thrill Dragster. Going to GADV next year, so I'll have to see if King Da Ka can top it.

^ From experience, I can tell you that Dragster and Ka feel exactly the same, but I like Dragster better because of the lap restraints versus the OTSRs.

Superman's pretzel loop is the most insane permanent element in the park, but namtaB in my opinion was far more insane, especially in the back (front?)

That pretzel loop is by far the worst... I ride Superman once a year. That is it... makes me feel really claustrophobic.

I will say, though, good thinking on Superman. That pretzel loop has caused far too many unintended pregnancies.

From our current crop of coasters, the pretzel loop was definitely a sensation I hadn't anticipated when I first rode SM:UF, but one of the most intense moments of a ride is something I have yet to hear mentioned much. It's from the now defunct Shockwave. It came directly after the 3rd loop, if you were sitting in the first few rows, the train has so much forward momentum coming out of the 3rd loop, then it shoots up an incline and darts sharply to the left with the craziest force into the block brakes. For me it always felt like the train was literally about to fly off the track and "ermahgerd" i freaking loved it!!!

I can remember the amount of force after that 3rd loop and into the block breaks. I never blacked out during that nasty move. Sure it was intense, but after having your head banged up a little, it really didn't bother me too much. I could handle it as easily as I handle Demon today, with minimal pain.

Now as for a WTF moment today, S:UF's pretzel loop - the bottom of it. At least it isn't as intense as that one move from Shockwave was. I also seem to recall a very intense moment on Iron Wolf, the corkscrew and the mess of track that followed it. That corkscrew was nasty.

Im guessing the top 3 wtf moments next year might come on Goliath next year. Possible contestants: first drop, overbanked turns, dive-drop, and the all new Zero-G inverted stall.

My Goliath WTF moment would probably start in the station. Think Stewie and the Ipecac I don wanna, I don wanna. I almost forgot Trailblazer that was a great ride especially my first one on it That was a great WTF moment. Oh but those lapbars tight fit.

I closed my eyes during the first drop on my first time on Raging bull. Why does everyone insist on taking coaster virgins to Raging Bull first?? Idk if thats a haha moment or just uncalled for. I hated Iron Wolf, that coaster was not meant for men. I can't recall any really OMFG moments....hmmm lets see....I threw up after Iron Wolf one year, superman another year (rainy day too btw), Batman at another point and The orbit as well a few years back. :?

American Eagle's first drop when I was nine. :D After that we spent the rest of the night back there running through the empty Que riding endlessly. :) Also when I discovered the the chain in the American eagle exit Que. Re-ride away. :o I'm not saying it's right but, Is it really line jumping? when there isn't a line. :?

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P
