Dead Déjà Vu

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Drkstarboard on October 15th, 2005, 3:41 pm
It's either Déjà Vu has a problem or it really got into the Fright Fest this year and descised as "Dead Déjà Vu" because it has been closed last weekend and this weekend. Does anyone know why it's been closed?

Last weekend I overheard a couple mechanics in the Demon station saying something about a problem with the "lift winch" on the reverse tower. It was hard to hear what they saying because I was right by a speaker.

I assumed they were talking about Vu since one of the mechanics was gesturing in that direction.

No, and if they did they probably can't say it. You can call the park, but they wont say anything either.

One of the lift cables on it was hanging and swinging in the wind before Fright Fest.

It's just having some downtime. And I think some of us are spoiled with its good season this year.

You can wait.

it did have a pretty good season this year, no real downtime til now.

But yeah, I also hear it is dead for the rest of the year, though I have not head a specific reason besides something is up with Tower 2

just don't worry about it. It's probably just taking some down time. Staffing could be an issue, but just leave it alone.... :D

People, people, the weather is not the reason Deja is closed. It does NOT cause stress fractures to the steel. Someone keeps telling you this, but you choose not to believe it. Well guess what, it's the truth. The reason it's down has to do with Tower 2 and nothing else.

I have said it once and will say it again and again and again until you all seem to get it through your heads. THE ONLY TIME COLD WEATHER CAUSES STRESS TO ROLLER COASTER STEEL TRACKS IS WHEN IT'S LESS THAN 30 DEGREES. It was 70 degrees yesterday, if the cold weather had anything to do with it's downtime, it would've been open yesterday. For cryin out loud people, use your heads.

No body really knows why the ride is closed. Except those who work at the park, and they aren't supposed to tell you. It's down, get over it, move on, and ride it next year.
Welcome to ShockWave please pull your harness down as far as it will go. While riding ShockWave please keep your hands and feet inside the car, and your head against the headrest, please hold on to all loose articles, especially hats and glasses. Enjoy your ride!

Its down because if you had to hear the old Demon song while waiting for Demon AND Deja Vu you would go clinically insane and hurt someone. End of story.

Don't get me wrong I like it too but they did a study on rats before Fright Fest and after they listened to the song for two hours they actually chewed through glass and steel to get out of the cage and ran to Canada. I'll try to find the link :o

Like everyone else is saying it's tower 2 ok? because sometime in the last month when they were closing down six flags for fright fest deja vu was closed for almost half the day and when it did open it was going up the second tower and stopped half way up so that is why it is closed the second tower is messed up its something wit the cable lift

No. It has barely anything to do with the retraction on tower two a few weeks ago.

It was up and running the next day.

If only Vekoma fixed their own ride...

My only question is if it was a prototype, who decided to build it in 3 different parks and why? I thought the idea was to get it working reliably before cloning.

4 different parks actually with the one in Europe.

Not sure why, but what ever reason they had, I'm sure it's retarded, especially after they built the first 3 Premeir launched Shuttle Coasters and all failed to open the year built(1997)(though SFGAdv's did open for like a day or 3 that year)
