While sifting through defunctparks.com, I came across a park in Kentucky called Fontaine Ferry Park. Shame small parks close, but, what I found intersting was that the carousel from that park was purchased by Six Flags in 1969. Now, I am confused, since it says that it was installed at Great America in 1976. As we all now, in 1976, Great America was owned by Marriot, not Six Flags. Maybe they just got the info wrong.
Its kinda of cool that alittle bit of that park stayed alive in its carousel at Great America. Now if they could find a way to get the Riverview carousel up from SFOG to Great America, where it should be. (Like that would ever happen)

I says that it was purchased in 69 by Six Flags, and installed at Great America in 1976. Six Flags didn't own the park in 1976. Doesn't really matter, just thought it was intersting.
So they made a mistake and forgot to say Marriott instead of Six Flags.
Anyway, I found this paragraph interesting at the bottom of the history page on that site.
"The carousel, presently located at Six Flags Great America, near Chicago, is shown on the left. It is worth $1,500,000. Since the acquisition of Kentucky Kingdom into the Six Flags chain, the city of Lousiville has been working on getting the carousel returned to its original home."
Well, now that this carousel is not being used, I wonder if the folks in Louisville are aware of this and should possibly be pushing Six Flags to move this carousel to Kentucky Kingdom.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
I think the carousel is still on property at GAm... I would think they would try to make an effort to get it to KK this summer if it were to be transported.
On the first page it says "The carousel is currently in storage and the park has no plans to reconstruct or open it to the public." I think they might have their information wrong because we were told by Ron Sevart at No Coaster Con that the park will reopen it. Ron Sevart could have changed his mind too. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.
I never did see the need for Ameri-Go-Round. I never really saw that many people go on it either. I mean it was even used for decartion during Fright Fest.
