Funniest/Stupidest thing I've ever seen (7/9/05)

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Coasterfan88 on July 9th, 2005, 12:28 am
Just spent a day at the park. There were a lot of people, but Hurricane Harbor really helped distribute the crowds to managable levels. Anyway, my friends and I were waiting in line for Superman, which seemed to be having a pretty rough day (it was breaking down often, about every half hour, and other people in line said the breakdowns had been happening all day) and we were two trains from riding, when we realized that the the train seemed to be waiting an unusually long time to leave the station. We then noticed other people in the station looking out over the space underneath superman's swooping turns and saw that a boy had jumped the queue line fence and was sprinting around undeneath the ride. The boy proceded to try to jump the fence surrounding the bottom of Superman's first drop when another man (presumably the boys father) ran out and wrestled the boy off of the fence. We then watched as supervisors and police ran out to escort the two away from the ride. The ride reopened about 5 minutes later, but still, I thought it was really funny to watch, but a truely stupid thing to do.

In another note, hurricane harbor was awesome though a little packed, and the rides had fairly decent wait times.

Dumbass and his son...haha.

About a week ago in SFOG I saw someone try to jump the airgates early for the Georgia Scorcher. I tried hard not to laugh when he landed head-first onto the train. Luckily, the ride ops still let him board, had they not, a delayance would have been inevitable.

Well, that's not really funny...but I can trump that. Last week after we got off Ice Mountain Splash, a kid was stuck in a boat. His knee was jammed up against the front padding and his foot was jammed at the bottom. They tried pouring water on him to make him slip out, but he just got wet. Then they called practically every EMT and park-op in the park to try to get him unstuck. After fifteen minutes of the ride being stopped with all his friends laughing uncontrollably, there were thirteen people trying to get him out. Finally they got the pad off and cut his shoes open. As a consolation the park gave him a pair of sandals. It was hilarious!

I'm sure that the dad was just trying to prevent his kid from jumping the fence, not wrestling him for fun.

He wasn't trying to jump the pretzel loop fence, he was trying to climb over the fence at the bottom of the first drop (when the train is still facing downward), before the pretzel loop. I don't think he would have gotten far enough to run all the way to the pretzel loop with security chasing him.
