This state is just getting stupidier, having to put one more tollway that will cost us $.50 more to get to GAm. It will probably get backed up too, with the amount of people getting on and off there.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.
I was worried there for a minute, but I'm Safe HWY 41 is still toll free. To all of those concerned look at an alternative route it may be slower but it is cheeper.
While the tollway will generate more money from this move, the northbound Waukegan plaza is being eliminated so if you are travelling up to Wisconsin, you won't get hit twice.
If you want to avoid that possible new toll and you are coming northbound on the tollway, simply exit at Rte 120 (Belvidere Rd) east. Make a left on O'Plaine Rd. and take that down to Grand Ave and go left.
Another thing to note is that Great America and Gurnee Mills don't seem to pleased with this possible move. On top of that, the tollway would need to aquire extra land from Great America to build it. We will see how this plays out.

I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
I think it'll make it even worse to get to SFGAM on the busier days in the summer, and then people will know that there are two lanes on the exit making it take me 30 more minutes to get into the park.
Ya an I-PASS would be helpful but considering in all I only go there an average of 3 times a year (at a max) it would be kinda pointless. oh well, its no big problem other than traffic jams (if you go alot then buy- im sorry GET - a I-PASS, if you dont go often then whats a few extra bucks?)

You don't "buy" an I-PASS - it costs $50, but includes $40 worth of tolls and a $10 deposit you get back when you return it (although I'm sure not too many people are going to be giving theirs back, since it's not temporary or anything). It takes less than 10 minutes at any Jewel store. Besides, you pay only $0.50 instead of $1.50 at every toll.
I've never taken Delany Rd. from 120 to 132, instead I've always taken 120 to Rte. 21 to 132. (You exit Rte. 120 West, there is an interchange at 120 and 21)
Um..... TOLLS? i havent paid tolls to get to 6 flags in hrm.......... for ever..... from the north (wisconsin)....take I-94 till you get to the the Waukegan 41 - Indiana split... take I41 till you get to I21 which is a slight right. take that till GRAND and then take a right. and your there. not much more difference.
sorry that sounded bad. but so your saying they might add another toll plaza? or that you will have to pay to get in and off the interstate after the toll plaza? well either way i dont go through that way anymore i take I-94. take the left exit onto Waukegan 41...take that to the slight right onto 21.... gets you there just as close and stuff.
i dont get "Open-Tollway" For me as a NON-ipass user. that would just mean i would pay my toll AFter Grand? instead of AFter the boarder?
Well either way. i plan to not take i94 past the Waukegan 41 exit anymore. ya, it takes an extra 5 minutes. but stopping for the toll also takes a min or 2 depending on traffic
that's just plain stupid, they make ehough money off of us from all of the OTHER tolls, why make another one? i think its a waste of time on both party's parts
Open-road tolling means that if you have an I-PASS, you don't have to slow down to go through the I-PASS lanes, which take up the entire width of the highway. If you don't have an I-PASS, you have to exit off to the side to manual lanes, pay, then get back on. It really has nothing to do with the location of the new tollboth, if it is built.
I'm from Iowa and I do have IPASS because of the amount of time I spend in and around Chicago. It doesz save a bunch of time and since Jan 01, $$ too!
Are they actually planning on trying to implement "Open Tolling" on all of the Illinois Tollway System? I know your governer wants to improve the system but that sounds like a monumental undertaking.
Yeah, but it should take a few years. Originally, the toll system was temporary until the entire system was built. Obviously, that is no longer true...
