no, they have begun to work on the rides, maintance has started their inspections, they'll soon start testing them, most likely not till the end of the month. They do it then because they have buyouts throughout April weekends.

I believe maintance should of been done a while ago on the cars and all, they should just have track inspections and loading all the cars back on left to do... besides testing of course.

I'm starting to wonder if they are going to get a late start with this unusually late snowfall garbage. Doesn't matter, I'm sure the snow will go away in time.

For those of you who care, check the webcam to see when Bull gets its trains put on the storage track. Also, Cedar Point already has 4 of Dragster's trains on the storage tracks and there is snow out there.(or was.)

Also, most rides(at SfGam) were ready a few years ago when it snowed in April, so I don't see this March snow to be so much of a road block for them.

Why do people think that the snow we are getting is late?

It's still technically winter. We have had major snowstorms in March in the past.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

We have had blizzards in the second week of March as early as 1998 i beleive when we got upwards of 18 inches of snow.

Its winter, its snows in the winter. Thats life :)

Is there a specific amount of times that rides need to test before the season starts?

Didn't somebody throw around the number of upwards to 100 times successfully to be certified by the state? I dunno...

Anyways I remember when we got over a foot of snow in May...

It's probably not going to snow again, and even if it does it probably won't matter. Do they operate rides if it's snowing or if it's below freezing?

I don't know if Great America does it, but I was at Darien Lake and they operated rides in the snow.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

There was just a trip report for Busch Gardens Williamsburg over on Coasterbuzz. According to the guy that posted it, B&M's have to have at least a 40 degree temp to operate. He said Alpengiest opened for awhile, and operated midway through a snow shower, then closed again.

Whether te 40 degree thing is totally true or not, I have no idea.
Finally Coaster Season!!
