Yes! Considering that we're the only major SF park left in the chain w/o a waterpark.
The other factor is that it beats driving 1.5-2 hours to the Dells when I can drive 45 min to Gurnee. I know it won't compare to the Dells (magnitude, a complete vacation package, etc.), but it's closer and probably more affordable.
with the only major waterpark near Chicago being, Noah's Ark in the Dells, it will be a huge success. I think it will draw people who do not generally go to theme parks and like water parks. they will probably spend the money and stay both at the waterpark and the amusement park even thought their main interest is the waterpark

Some would consider Magic Waters as a major water park. But either way you look at it, this will be huge for SfGaM especailly with it not being a seperate park where you have to pay for it in addition to the theme park like some Hurricane Harbors are i.e. SFMM's Hurricane Harbor. I say attendance sees a rise of about 5% this year compared to last years.
Yeah I think it will do great. It seems that if they keep Mr. Six as the person who advertises it, that people will be more attracted to it. I mean Mr. Six became nationally known in one season. He became famous pretty much overnight. So with his extra help in advertising HH will do amazing.
Mr. Six has won over the public, and everyone knows that damned song now. But if he advertises it, (Knowing he will) Hurricane Harbor will be a BIG success. No doubt about it.

Mr. Six really did not help SF that much. Sure, everyone knows who he is, but Mr. Six really did not draw more people to the parks. That is why I think that the major SF parks (MM, Gadv, GAM, Over Geogia, Over Texas) Need to be advertised farther away. They should have both KK and GAM comericials in Indy.
HH is going to be a success, it think that is a given. Water parks give an alterinitive form of fun at parks.
If you look at SF's bottom line Mr Six was no success. While people may have heard the song and seen the commerical, it didnt result increased attendance nor increased profit margins.
I hope that HH is a success but it will take several years to find out. You will have to factor in the cost of building it/extra employees's/maintence etc against how much EXTRA revenue it brings into the park. If it just cause's season passholders to visit more often that may increase attendance but not benefit the park much finanically. So only time will tell if this new addition will bring enough extra money to payoff the total cost of it and then add to the parks bottom line. Just moving spending from the main park to the water park without adding additional spending and (alot of it) will be of little benefit.
While this may increase the number of times i go to the park it wont add any money to the park unless the food offerings are much better than what has been offered in the past and the prices are in fact lowered, because all things being equal it wont cause me to spend any extra money in the park.
Yes, it will almost definately be a success, and for the reason that was mentioned above... People who aren't really into amusment parks, but like waterparks are going to be all over this. I know even my mom said she'd go to Great America this year because of the waterpark.
I think that the jump in attendance will be huge, but like Bob O said, that won't necessarily mean spending will jump too.
The main purpose of an advertising campaign is to get public aware of your product, not to earn more profits; that can be an added bonus. With this being said, Six Flags made the ultimate goal by making themselves a character people can relate to their parks. They had people talking, and people interested. Dictionary.com list the word advertising as: "To call the attention of the public to a product or business." So Mr. Six did get us somewhere.
I said yes because if there has been hype from people saying other SF waterparks are good, then we'll definetly be anticipating many people to go to HH. Also, it's good for tourists who come through the area because they don't just have a theme park to go to, and the admission to HH is included in the general admission for SFgam
I'm not sure. The reason why I say this is due to profits of the waterpark. If the park decides to put something in next year (something expensive), then the park is spending money too fast.
I am saying this because the waterpark basically costs the price of two rollercoasters which SHOULD be of value of two years (D Vu' and V2 were an exception). Actually, they lasted two years in reality.
So, the whole point is that the park has to be successful in value of two rollercoasters (2 SUF's maybe). Will the waterpark be crowded? My guess would be yes. However, I don't think that it will be as profitable as two rollercoasters would be especially when admission is "free" to HH when someone pays to go into the regular park.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Making people aware of your product is good, but if that doesnt result in increased sales and a better bottom line, then the campaign is a failure. Saturating a market with a commerical may increase awareness, but that doesnt mean much if it doesnt spur better revenue's. And since attendance was down and the compnies bottom line is awful its hard to spin the Mr Six campaign as a success.
As for HH, im ssure that operating the water park will cost SFGAM alot of money. I would guess that trained/certified lifeguards will be paid more than the average SF employee and the other costs with the water park ie-water quality/cleaning of tubes/slides etc. will add significant expenses. So to pay for this SFGAM will need new visitors coming more often and eating/drinking more to cover this. If they get season passholders visitng more often it may increase attendance numbers but not the bottom line.
Yes, that is why Six Flags must enforce a strict advertising campagin. Take a look at last year with Mardi Gras... Six Flags screwed themselves there by hardly advertising it. I think they could have gotten a much better response in attendance if they would have heavily pushed the new Mardi Gras section.
Now, SFGAm is between Milwaukee, and Chicago, so they have plenty of population to reach, but they must do the advertising consistantly. They really need to push the waterpark, as well as the FAMILY friendly atmosphere. Believe it or not, there are alot of people out there that won't go to Six Flags anymore, because all they've been adding are roller coasters. They really need to get the word out that there is a lot more for non-thrillseekers and families to do together, especially now with Hurricane Harbor.
They need to advertise in Indy! It is the country's 12th largest city! Sure, that would be intruding in SFKK's advertizing area, but no really goes to KK with CP and PKI around. SFGam is the only actual SF park in the area that can match up with the Ohio giants. I only wish the peeps at SF would listen to me...

Yeah, Magic Waters can be considered a major waterpark. They have decent attendance, but Hurricane Harbor is just going to destroy the park. Much of Magic Water's attendance comes from groups around the Chicago area. Many of those groups will now be going to Hurricane Harbor because of location.
Yes, Hurricane Harbor is going to be a huge success.
It will definatly be a success. Because unless you feel like drivng a really long time (to Rockford/wisconsin dells), there are no major waterparks in the chicago area.
