Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's recent annoucement reguarding the changes in the rates for Illinois' tollway users becomes effective Jan 1, 2005. These changes will effect all Illinois users of all the tollway system but, especially those with-out I-Pass service.
Hey, I thought I heard a while back that IL was getting rid of the tolls? I guess I have to get Ipass too. The Gov must not like Indiana peeps. Every time I go to Great America it costs me an arm and a pint of blood for the blasted tolls and I don't even see the potholes and rough spots being fixed. What a crock!
Candy: What you lookin' at? Otis B. Driftwood: I'm lookin' at you, mama. Candy: Yeah, you see something you like? Otis B. Driftwood: Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed.
It will actually cost less for me next year because I'll just start taking 41 instead of 94. I don't care so much about the money, I'm just annoyed by all the ploys to try and get people to use IPASS.
No, most of the time I will just drive through the Ipass lanes without an Ipass.
And I don't think its that big of a deal. Gas prices keep going up so I guess we all have been paying more all along.
Jason: If you are serious in that you blow off tolls, take note that they are cracking down on this. Cameras recording license plate numbers are everywhere on the tollbooths.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
Yeah that really wouldnt be the greatest of ideas... The State of Illinois is in a huge budget shortfall. And Illinois finest wont hesitate to slap a 500 dollar fine on you.
But hey, it could be you doing your part....FOR ILLINOIS
Scott, Im serious I do skip through the IPASS lanes, but my car is registered as having an IPASS in it so they most likely wont send me a fine in the mail and if a cop does happen to get me then I will claim to have forgotten that I didnt have the IPASS.
I-Pass all the way baby.. I have had I-Pass since 2001 and love it! Back then I was living in Lockport, IL and my boyfriend (who is now my fiance) lived in Racine, WI!! So I-Pass was a godsend!
My parents have one and we have the velcro in both cars, so they switch it around, but half the time they forget to switch it, so i think we're getting a second one.
I think Illinois would be a better pick. Just because You're on an Interstate in Illinois doesn't mean you're going to pay tolls. You can still avoid tolls in Chicagoland on I-55,I-57,I-190, and I-290 and every Interstate south of here except I-80.
DejaVu The Ride wrote:My parents are getting I-pass because we travel a lot. It is obvious that Illinois wants it to eventually be mostly I-pass.
Heck, I don't see what the big deal is....I live in Iowa and have an IPASS. As often as I'm in the Chicago area it's worth it, especially since you just have to slow down a little for the toll plaza's.
The first couple coming from Iowa (Dixon and Dekalb) on I-88 kind of suck though. They have dedicated IPASS lanes but you still have to come to almost a complete stop. It still shaves off lots of travel time not having to wait in those other lines.
